Please take a couple of minutes and read this intro as well as the information about the ticket onsales. It would mean a lot to me.

My brother Anthony (senior in high school) and I (just graduated college) have put together this fundraising show entirely from scratch, including having to overcome many obstacles such as venue availability, obtaining funds to help cover the costs of renting the theater, and a myriad of other problems including insurance issues.

We believe strongly in this cause, and we think that everyone who attends this will truly be impressed by David and enjoy the show, otherwise we wouldn't have put in all our hard work and time.

It will mean a lot to Mr. Sancious, a lot to SPARKS International, a lot to us, and a lot to the children of Afghanistan who may attend the SPARKS Academy someday in the future, to look out at the seats on July 2 and see a full house. Please join us for the evening–you'll be happy that you did!!

-----------------------------------------------------------

I am happy to announce that tickets will go onsale this Monday for the concert, which will take place on Saturday July 2nd at 7:30 PM, in the intimate new Two River Theatre in Red Bank, NJ (where Bruce filmed VH1 Storytellers)! The theater is just a short walk from the New Jersey Transit train/bus station in Red Bank and is easily accessible from New York City.

---The concert will make for an exceptional 4th of July Weekend at the Shore, with Southside Johnny and Boccigalupe playing on Sunday night at the Stone Pony, and our own Stan G. offering a tour of Freehold and Asbury Sunday afternoon! So make a full Jersey Weekend out of it!---

Tickets are only $25 each(!) and as my previous post stated, every dollar of profit is going to the SPARKS International charity, a student-run organization based at Princeton University ( www.sharethespark.org (http://www.sharethespark.org) )

TO PURCHASE TICKETS:
Call the Two River Theatre Box Office at 732-345-1400
OR
Click on over to www.trtc.org (http://www.trtc.org) or go directly to the Two River Theatre tickets page (http://www.trtc.org/pages/2tickets/tickets.html)!

While most Bruce fans should know the name David Sancious (http://www.davidsancious.com/), just in case you aren't familiar with him, go put on New York City Serenade and you'll see why you should be at this concert. Many of the beautiful piano parts you hear on "Greetings "and "Wild & Innocent" were written by David, who also arranged the strings for songs such as NYC Serenade.

Sancious was the original keyboard player of the E Street Band and was a major part of the early Asbury music scene, playing the legendary late-night jams at the Upstage Club and with bands like Glory Road (featuring Bill Chinnock and several soon-to-be members of the E Street Band), The Sundance Blues Band with Southside Johnny and Little Steven, Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom, and The Bruce Springsteen Band.

He is, of course, also responsible for the name of the band, which they took from the name of the street he lived on in Belmar.

This particular fundraiser will be benefitting the SPARKS Academy in Kabul, Afghanistan, which was opened in November 2003 with praise from Afghan President Hamid Karzai. It is the first independent co-educational school of excellence (admission is based solely on merit) in the country and provides wonderful and unique opportunities for the children of the region.

Sancious' playing has appeared on over 100 albums, and he has toured and recorded with some of the biggest names in all of music including Eric Clapton, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, and many more. For one night only, he will return to the Jersey Shore for a very special benefit show.

This is definitely an event you won't want to miss!

I had heard that a number of years ago, when Davy was playing with Sting at the Garden State Arts Center, his mother was still alive and had a picnic for the band at her house on E Street in Belmar. Can you imagine Sting munching on a corn on the cob in the backyard of a little house down the Shore? Must have been pretty surreal.

Unfortunately, I just called the theater and they said as of this morning it was cancelled...Nick, any update on that..??

yes, unfortunately, I do have an update.

The show is NOT cancelled, but is being postponed until Late July (if things work out) due to a scheduling conflict for which the theater is responsible. David, SPARKS, nor we had any part in it. It's sickening to have this happen on the verge of all the press we're about to get, but it's not in our hands.

After thinking about it an awful lot over the past 24 hours, we've decided it would be best to try to stick with the theater, and hopefully for anyone that couldn't make it, this will work out better. For anyone that bought tickets, we are truly sorry, and hope you will be able to make it at the new date. Stay tuned!

Lousy news. I had just told mrs. mha, who is going to visit her folks over July 4th weekend, that I might go up to Red Bank for the Sancious show and then go see Southside and Bocci at the Pony next night. Then saw that the show has been moved. Need to re-evaluate my whole weekend.

It is a shame that it is being rescheduled because of all of the effort that was put into it. But I was unable to go on July 2 due to a busy holiday weekend, so hopefully I can go to the rescheduled date!

again, we really apologize, and if there was something we could do about it, we would.

I just went through seeing the anger and dissapointment that went with Bruce's two tour schedule changes, and I understand that this may well wreck people's travel plans and such. But rescheduling is the only way to put this event on and raise money for this group, and that's what this is all about.
