I just got this off U2torrent and dime. The sound is simply amazing. I will burn this for 2 people who will then be asked to burn it for 2 or more. Im going to again ask that you have 100 or more posts to initially sign up.
IM GOING TO MAKE THE TREE ON SATURDAY.
So please just sign up and say how many you will burn for. If you cant burn please just say "burnerless". If your a leaf its up to you to contact by pm your burner. After I post the tree on Saturday then you folks with less then 100 posts can hop in by adding yourself to a burner.
Heres the disk info for you geeks:

DocBox #8 - a series of concerts from a box in Doc basement

(Seed first torrented 21 June 2005.)

Parts of this appear all over the place, but here, in excellent quality, is most of the "good stuff" (i.e., the artists I care about) from the day-long, summer 1986 "Conspiracy Of Hope" concert in Giants Stadium, NJ, for Amnesty International. If you're as old as I am, you might remember watching this--MTV covered the whole thing (I think that is veejay Martha Quinn that you hear on some of the voiceovers here), and the commercials, mostly for Amnesty, were awesome ("dictatorship is a bitch" by Robin Williams, comes to mind).

This is from master, first-gen FM tapes in my basement (UDXL-IIs, NR off), taped directly off of the air. The tapes sound great--excellent dynamic range, not much hiss. The only processing I did was some fade ins/outs during the concert. No tape flips during songs (yeah, baby--that takes TALENT!). Included are the complete sets by Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, Joni Mitchell (played great with an impromptu band, despite the fact that you can hear her asking people to "stop pitching " at her), Peter Gabriel, The Police (re-formed after a breakup in the earlier 80s, and an incredibly energetic, tight set here), U2 is on the 3rd Disk. (their set is also very good, with a rockin' "Sun City" which included most of the other acts as well).

I noticed avery brief dropouts (fraction of a sec) during "I Am A Patriot", low vocals initially during the first song of Joni's set--this was a mix problem and was corrected during the song. No diginoise, no saturation. All-in-all, a nearly 20-year-old tape that has held up very well.

Enjoy!

-Doc

I was THERE all day gettin a hell of a tan! We were first row across the field from the stage. Six of us got those tix and another six got 200 level seats. Well, after Jackson Browne finished, the six people next to us left, so we sent our ticket stubs up to them and wound up with 12 high school friends together for most of the show! To us, of course, it was basically a U2 concert with a ton of opening acts. (Too bad you didn't record the set by Third World. I have never been able to find a recording of the song they did that day "96 degrees in the shade"--I sure remember loving it though, and still hum parts of it on hot days LOL)

Great Great show and memories. I still have the well worn t-shirt in a box of other old concert shirts, and the ticket stub is below.

Needless to say, I would LOVE to get a copy of this, and will even (use Ashley's burner to) burn for someone else. Thanks for the offer!

Is there artwork for this set?
I found some artwork, but it was for the DVD. So it was the wrong size and only had the Police and U2 on it. So I made my own, and you are all welcome to use it. In it's original form (Serif PhotoPlus .Spp file) it is exactly the right size. e-mail me if you want that format. Otherwise, here are some .jpg files that should be close to the correct size, or usable with CD cover formatting software.
