Well, don't know about Stamey's but just down the road from Greensboro is the state's best barbecue:

Just an FYI...
Warner Stamey taught most of the current Lexington legends how to make bbq. He learned his craft from Jesse Swicegood and Sid Weaver...the fathers of Lexington 'cue.
Get a tray of sliced barbecue with some dip from the kitchen(not the bottled sauce on the table)...followed by peach cobbler w/ice cream.
You'll love it.

Just make sure you're eating eastern North Carolina barbecue. Western North Carolina barbecue is not the same thing and, in my never humble opinion, is not all that great.

It is indeed a blasphemy that western Carolina barbecue even exists. ;)
I grew up on the eastern variety and I'm quite sure my blood bleeds that tangy, vinegary sauce. Yum, yum, yum.

Oh Andrew, what do you know about barbecue? What is that stuff the British eat---bangers and mash? St. Louis barbecue---pffffffftttt. You need to change your mind about coming to Greensboro and I will feed you some grits for breakfast and barbecue for lunch. :)

The only good thing that comes out of N.C is I-85 heading south  to Atlanta where all the REAL fans will be on the Saturday night whilst you are at home peeling grits or whatever you do with them
