"Big Labor" as we know it is dead in this country. More bad news for the Democratic party.

And if you don't think that the Christian right is anything different than "big labor" you're nuts. At least big labor doesn't hide what it is and what it does. Clear Channle and other such groups are absolutely no less hypocritical. At least many of the "smaller" people in America have benefitted from thier associations with unions.

I spent a few years in a union and I'm not sure what it did for me but take a good portion of my check and provide me zero motivation to become distinguished based on excellence in my trade.

Everyone is different but my dad keeps reminding me that union wages helped him pay off his mortgage in 3 years and pay for me to go to Notre Dame. No, he is not involved in union management, he is a proud member of IBEW 134.

I;m happy for him and you. I was in IBEW Local 3 and when I left they got to keep thousands and thousands of my hard earned schwag and got to pay me off at $250 a month for forever. Or I could take a lump sum and get about half. Bum deal. Not to mention getting the job done in a timely manner was never part of the equation.
