Britney Spears is in the critical spotlight once again, this time with some words fired from the direction of the original Mr. Nasty, Pop Idol and X-Factor judge Simon Cowell. Cowell, speaking to Teen Hollywood, said first of Brits rival Christina Aguilera; "Great voice, great attitude. I just think this girl is a star. I really like her."

"Where (Britney's) different from Christina is that she is someone who's so reliant on great pop records produced and written for her, whereas Christina is a bit more kind of old school - just an unbelievable singer."

Well believe it or not, there still are people who work in the music business who really do seek for talent. For instance Kelly Clarksons record label . Of course, an artist has to make their record label profits that is a MUST for all labels BUT there's a difference in wanting to make money from talent and wanting to make money from ""CRAP"".... Britney Spears sadly is a part of the last category. Not to offend anyone. It's just my opinion. She has no talent. I find it very sad that there is so much talent today and who becomes a star? Stinky Spears. Also, talented artists like John Mayer and Jason Mraz have to work 10 times as hard as Britney Spears to make half the money she earns. :throwup:

First of all the persons comparing her to Elvis must have been stoned or something. They have absolutely nothing incommon. Elvis was talented, Britney isn't. Their music is different from eachother. who is this person comparing the two of them?

Second of all, How good an artist is has nothing to do with how many albums they sell. There are plenty of good artists out there who aren't selling that GREAT but who are very talented. THE only reason why Britney is selling alot of albums is because allher fans are teeny boppers. Period.

Third. An artist who does her own thing isn't mainstream. I think alot of Christinas fans are gonna appreciate her upcoming album. I'm not a fan and I know I will. She's a good singer, she's artistic and it will do well.

Lastly, I'll agree, Britney Spears is an ICON, or maybe more an image. Teenies want to be like her, look like here and so on. That's sad cause she can't sing at all, she's a product controlled by her record label.

3. Britney is a BIGGER star in terms of being a household name and being on tabloids. HOWEVER, the chances of the information/news being positive is rare. Same goes with Xtina but at least she the quantity is MUCH MUCH less.

4. WAY more people who know more about music and appreciate music for it's artistry or people in the business KNOW that Xtina is way more talented in singing, period.

5. Britney is more controlled by her label and Xtina...partly because the music Britney writes doesn't make the album; Xtina may have to bypass the record label but at least almost all her songs make the album and she chooses which people make it (aka no Dallas Austin)

6. Britney is the better dancer and has more elaborate shows; although I don't care for that stuff, if you can't back it up with the voice GOODBYE.

Many people care about what Simon thinks. Why do you think he's on one of the most popular shows in America? He's not arrogant, the music business is tough and you have to work hard if you want to make it. He's there to judge, they come on his show to get evaluated and to get discovered, they are aware of the conciquences. If they can't handle it they shouldn't be on the show. :cool:

once when Simon was a guest on the howard stern show they told him they had "an aspiring singer" for him to critique. after the guy performed (he sounded good) Simon basically told him he doesn't have an appealing voice and wouldn't make it in the business. then it was revealed the singer was actually Josey Scott, who sang "Hero" with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. He's been in the business for years and sold millions of albums lol it was great.
