View Full Version : Rival's words can't bring Britney down

BY BILL ZWECKER SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST (http://www.suntimes.com/output/zwecker/cst-ftr-zp11.html)

Sounds as if Christina Aguilera has found a way to renew her old feud with longtime rival Britney Spears. The Latin diva has soundly dissed the pregnant pop tart -- telling the Contactmusic.com Web site the new Mrs. Federline has ''let herself go too much'' to reclaim her sex-symbol appeal after she delivers her first child next month. ''I can't see a comeback in the cards,'' added the ''Dirrty" singer.

Aguilera didn't stop there, saying she was ''horrified'' (yeah, I bet!) by the ''deterioration'' in Britney's appearance recently.

A call to Spears' camp only elicited a fairly loud ''Hahahahaha'' stream of hysterical laughter, followed by a quick, ''Consider the source. No comment.''

Click.

2.- NOBODY CAN BRING BRITNEY DOWN, CUZ SHE ALREADY PUT HERSELF THERE :funny:
3.- BTW, this is old news, did U just got back from your mothership? How come U didn't know about this?

Please if Britney was down they wouldn't have signed her again for another 3 album deal. Also Elizabeth Arden wouldn't want someone in the dumps selling their product right? Wrong. Curious is still selling like hot cakes and it has almost been a year. Fantasy it going to come out in about 1 month and it's going to sell as much or more than Curious. Britney's career is still going strong after 7 years, while others are fading into oblivion. Y'all are just pissed off that Britney is better and has always been the best. No need to hate.

Right. Britney can sing (even if you don't think she can), she can dance up a storm, she can sell her music, she can write some good music Everytime, Someday amoung others, she can act (she was okay in Crossroads, she was really funny on snl), she can be a great spokesperson, she's written books, she plays the piano, and guitar. I'm not saying she's an expert but she does what she can. She can sell out stadiums like nobody's business. She's an excellent performer she can get the crowd hyped up even if she's not on the stage yet. All these things take talent.

Oh please, who cares about some stupid perfume. Do you honestly think she had anything to do with it ? No one cares about britney's music anymore. The only reason she's in the spotlight now is because she's become a media whore. Look at the the new issue of People, she whored out her baby shower. Her and gold digging, white trash husband are a joke. And don't mention her amazing record sales because that was in the PAST. Her record sales now suck. Plus someday, MP, Do Something all flopped.

aww you are upset because christina has never been on the cover of people magazine and she only sold 20 bottles of her perfume. and speaking of sucking, her last two singles (carwash and tyhb) both flopped, as did her her attempted U.S. tour that didn't even get off the ground.

This may be just another opinion but it's one I agree with.

http://popdirt.com/article35387.html
After a year in which Christina has not released anything but in which Britney did all she can to attract public interest, it is a real success for christina that she debuted at top 5 among Usher, Eminem, Destiny's Child and Britney...this shows that even with a soundtrack for some kids movie, Christina can beat many of other artists in the UK. ‘My Prerogative’ on the other hand, spent only three weeks in the top twenty and fell out of the chart. This basically explains that Britney can not stay in the charts for a long time...remember that ‘Stripped’ debuted at number 2 in the billboard charts however sold much more than in the zone which debuted at number 1 selling 609000 copies in a week. In the ‘Car Wash’ and ‘My Prerogative’ competition, we witness the same incident. However while one of the songs (‘My Prerogative’) is a definite attempt to introduce an album for Britney, the other is only a song for a kids movie and made for fun. Even in this situation Christina is doing better. So who is the leading female in the UK?"

What tour?

the tour last year in which Christina for the first time attempted to tour U.S. arenas on her own (not opening up for Justin Timberlake), something Britney has done successfully twice (the DWAD and Onyx tours were 97% sold out), but it was cancelled due to lackluster ticket sales. Touring is where the real money is made. People pay up to $100-$200 dollars per ticket as opposed to $13 for a cd. The artist receives millions for touring and a few cents for cd sales. I'd take successful tours over a few cd sales any day.

cd sales aren't comparible to ticket sales. alicia keys last album sold more than in the zone. does that mean alicia can sell more concert tickets than britney? no. justin has headlined stadium crowds with n'sync. he is a bigger concert draw in the states than christina. promoters know who sells more tickets. that's why justin played last every night of the justified stripped tour.

If the cirtics told you you were a trashy whore, you'd believe it?

I BET YOU WOULD!

God, get a personality, and some individuality while you're at it.

Have you ever put thought into the lyrics? Other than superficial aspects that people tell you believe, perhaps you'd realize that Dirrty was choreographed/directed that way, because gee, it was about letting loose, having a good time, and maybe -- just maybe -- that acting/singing/dressing "Dirrty" was a euphamism for all of that? It's a figure of speech, sweety. Learn about it. Heaven forbid you'd think that "I'm a Slave 4 U" was actually about slavery? OH, that's RIGHT! It WAS! Oh no, we can't have that, that's a treacherously bad thing, isn't it?

Britney's video was just as slutty as Christina's. If you can't look at these things objectively, there's no point in you arguing about anything of, really. It's one thing to be a fangirl, but it's quite another to trick yourself into believing that you're a TRASHY WHORE.

=) I think there's room for a third option, don't you agree?

Christina's voice is respected... yes. it's her words/opinions that have no crediblity. she says a lot of dumb things, contradicts herself, tries too hard to sound intelligent in interviews (when she isn't) and takes herself way too seriously with her "i'm an artist" crap. And no Britney isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer either, but at least she doesn't pretend to be. :funny:

Britney hasn't said ANYTHING smart in interviews, from the ones I've watched anyway. All that comes out of her mouth is just laughing, "it's cool, hehe, I'M A FREAKIN DORK" and she acts like a 12 year old by doing those goofy faces all the time. Christina tries to prove her point by talking about what her songs are about in interviews, not talking about who is she getting pregnant to next.

Yes, because being stupid is better than at least pretending to be smart?

That's like saying going naked to the grocery store is better than WANTING to go naked, but instead wearing pants. Whether Christina is as intellectual as she portrays herself to be or not, at least she's trying.

How, pray tell, does she, or HAS she contradicted herself? Give me a list. And tell me if it's a bigger contradiction than claiming to follow a certain religion and doing everything that the religion is against.

I mean, seriously the only difference between Britney Spears and that damned Numa, Numa kid, is that when his video was discovered, people actually cared. I mean, it had all of the aspects of a Britney performance, right? Lipping? Dancing? Corny lyrics?

Oh, and anyways, the article is obviously a fake anyways, because I doubt Britney is actually stupid enough to say "consider the source" in response to Christina when she know's SHE'S Britney Spears.

Yes, because being stupid is better than at least pretending to be smart?

yes it is actually. because despite the effort she still doesn't come across as intelligent. moreso as someone trying too hard, who's insecure and taking herself too seriously. which is far more annoying than the person who has flaws but is at least being themselves.

I think one of the true great female rock stars of our era, Shirley Manson, said it best in Gear magazine:

She used to hate Britney Spears, but has changed her mind. The 16-year-old panty-wearing Spears on the cover of Rolling Stone disturbed her. "But now that she's older and has a sense of humor about the whole thing, I like her. Out of all of them, she seems the most real. Everybody eventually ends up liking Britney. You can't help it. Now Christina Aguilera..." She gives an arch look.

Most people don't even KNOW who Shirley Manson is anyways. And since you say everyone ends up liking Britney (no, it was her quote, but you quoted her so obviously you agree) why don't you show a list of celebrities of name and worth who actually would choose her over Christina.

in what way do Mariah and Whitney gravitate towards Christina? do you have quotes from them? just because they are her influences doesn't mean they gravitate towards her. have any of these people actually stated they prefer Christina or are we assuming? because if we are, just off the top of my head:

This better be sarcasm. Being the biggest joke in all of music for 8 years running isn't a major accomplishment. I mean, come on Ashlee Simpson is caught lipsynching, does a silly ho-down dance, and STILL she's not as big of a joke musically as Britney. It's quite depressing. No wonder she needs cheetos and penis to survive.

So suddenly congratulating her on her pregnancy = fan? Get real. Oh, and quotes please. Looks like you just pulled a bunch of celeb names out of a hat and posted them.

Yeah..you still suck, but good post.

It's funny how whenever a celeb talks about Christina positively it's to dote on her voice and such, but whenever anybody comments on Britney it's to either scold or congratulate her on something she's done in her personal life. THE BITCH IS A SINGER!! IF NOBODY COMMENTS ON HER MUSIC POSITIVELY, THAT SAYS A FRIGGIN' GOT. If all they can say is "congrats on the kid" that has to show you what we know about her. That's not a fan.

You want Quotes? I'll give you Quotes.

Kanye West From Radar Magazine:
There are only two Britney Spears songs I like, but I love them: “…Baby One More Time” and “Toxic.” “Toxic” is my .

Joss Stone
Joss Stone recently sent out a list of songs that she liked to Itunes along with a number of other celebrities explaining why they are on their Ipod playlist and why they like them. Joss Stone says about Everytime, "It's a really pretty song and I love the video...please leave Britney alone." Source: www.britneyunleashed.com

Those aren't the only ones trust me. There are more I'm trying to find them.

Adam Levin
"Toxic is the perfect combination between an amazing video, and an amazing song. Plus Britney looks so hot in all those outfits. She definitely has to win Best Pop video and Best Female video. If Britney doesn't win, we are going to leave the VMAs."

Madonna
"Can I just say that I find it really irritating that everyone beats up on Britney Spears? I want to do nothing but support her and praise her and wish her the best. I mean, she's 18 years old! It's just shocking. I was so gawky and geeky and awkward and unsure of myself."

"I feel really protective of her. Don't even ask me why. there's something about her. Even though she's terribly successful, for some reason I think of her as an underdog."

"It's like when you go to a party and there's a girl, and everyone's avoiding her because she's really pretty, or whatever. I always want to go over and talk to that person. is a victim of snobbery. People are going, 'oh she's this', and 'oh she's got fake tits' and blah blah blah, and you know as soon as I see somebody getting picked on, I just want to go and, you know, talk to them at the party. Maybe to a certain extent I can relate to it, because I feel that I was certainly a victim of snobbery when I first started. I can't even count the number of things that I read about myself that kept dismissing me and the fact that I had talent or that I could sing or any of those things. And now I just see everybody doing it to Britney, so I feel defensive of her and protective of her. It's so easy to get up and criticize people, isn't it?"

[B]Lindsay Lohan
"How can you not like Britney Spears?"

Melissa Ethridge
“Melissa Etheridge admitted her fondness for Britney Spears. When asked “Christina or Britney?” she responded, "Truth? I love Christina's voice, but I kind of dig Britney's whole thing. Yep, I really think Christina has great chops. She kind of overdoes it, but that's what everyone's into right now. But she's got a huge voice, and I like listening to it. Yet if a video of hers came on, I'm not that interested in watching it, whereas I will stop in the room and watch a Britney video.” (quotation from Rolling Stone)

Debbie Gibson
“As one of the top teen performers of the '80s, Debbie Gibson influenced a generation with perky, poppy songs such as "Only in My Dreams," "Foolish Beat" and "Electric Youth" before dropping out of the music business to focus her energies on the Broadway stage. While Gibson said she's awed by the sexual energy Britney exudes, she doesn't target Spears as an especially bad influence on today's electric youth. "I think she knows to a degree that she's playing a role," Gibson said. "It seems as though she can distinguish between what she does onstage and what she does in her life. She puts on her face and her clothes and her hair extensions, turns up the energy and goes for it, which I enjoy. I don't get the feeling she takes that side of herself too seriously. She always has a little tongue-in-cheek glint in her eye when she performs."

K.D. Lang
"K.D. Lang shared her feelings on Mariah Carey and Britney Spears to The New York Post's Liz Smith saying, "You know they are both really good singers. But they are caught in the push to be overly sexy and to sell themselves as objects when it's enough that they are great singers. I feel for them. They're in the grip of the celebrity sex madness that is going on. I'm not a prude, but where do they go from here?"" (from another site)

Taryn Manning
"'Crossroads' star Taryn Manning has nothing but praise for her co-star in the film, Britney Spears. The actress struck up a friendship with Spears on the set of this year's road movie, and was amazed by her natural talent. "It was really cool," Manning said of working with the singer. "The biggest surprise was that she could actually sing. In real life she has a beautiful voice. I don't understand why people don't like her. She's got a great edge to her too. She's like, 'I'm not perfect. Accept it.' I think that's great.""

Anson Mount
Anson Mount: "There's no mistaking the fact that Britney Spears is beautiful and intelligent and talented and genuine."

Zoe Saldana
"She's not just talented, she's also a great person."

Kim Cattrall
"She's so dynamic and wonderful. The Sex and the City girls love her music. They play it in the trailer."

Diana Warren
"She's a better singer than people give her credit for."

Lauren Christy
"She’s very professional, totally unaffected by her fame—really a great girl, down to earth...Good voice. She’s underrated, I think, as a singer."

Michael Jackson
God bless you Britney, and I love you. (on tv 30th anniversary special)

As an Actress

Matthew Barry (casting director)
Have any of you SEEN her work? No. I have. I was there. I worked with her. She was amazing. WAY beyond what you have previously seen. Was she the best? Nobody was better than Rachel, but hats off to her. She worked her ass off and impressed everyone.

I would hire her in a second - and probably will for the next film we're doing - knock her all you want, but she is DISCIPLINED, which many - I mean MANY - don't have that.

AND, you can name MOST young actresses and they tried out for the role - Britney was better than most of them

Her "image" may be tainted, but she has TALENT.

Rachel McAdams
"I'm sure Britney would have done a great job."

Ryan Gosling
"I'm sure it would've been a totally different movie. I hadn't seen her since she was probably 12. She's grown up. She was really good, actually. She did a really nice job."

Nicole Kidman
"I adore her and so do my kids. We just can't get enough of her and I really think she's a great actress."

Pink
"She's very nice. She's very talented. She's probably one of the cutest persons I've ever met."

P.Diddy
"As a performer, an artist and a songwriter she's really top. It was a pleasure to work with her. She was very quick. Very quick. And I wouldn't go in a studio with someone who doesn't motivate me. She did. She did it her style and we mixed it up with my edge and I think it's probably one of the hottest things you've ever heard."

I mean, Christina got no chance. Britney will always be better, 'though Christina got a great voice. No disrespecting, but I think Britney is the bigger Icon. But I still like Christina."

Chad Kroeger
"It doesn't matter if I got a Britney Spears CD or not, but she really deserves her success."

Ashanti
"She's fine. She got some great songs and I actually like her voice. Hot little Lady...!"

Hilary Duff
"I love her. She was always the biggest inspiration to me. My favorite song would be Toxic. I really love that one. It's so hooky... I don't care about the things the press says about her. I think she's an amazing woman and a great role model for younger kids."

Craig David
"She was the one that inspired me to become a singer. I remember watching "Baby one more time" and thinkin 'Oh man, I'd love to do that one day'. She's the biggest out there."

Ashton Kutcher
"The whole music industry is so awful right now and everything is just so conventional. Thank god for Britney. Life would just be so boring if it wasn't for her performances. Definetely, I've never met anyone who owns the stage as well as she does, and I don't think that there is one single person that can deny that."

Carmen Electra
"My favorite Britney-Song is "Toxic". I would kiss Britney."

Kylie Minogue

Nelly Furtado

Ricky Martin: 'Her talent has made her the favorite vocalist of today. A great chemistry developed between us and we went into the studio to experiment. The result, a great duet. Her voice is magical and really impressive.'

Missy Elliot: 'I got a chance to work with Christina Aguilera, she's a really cool girl. Christina is one of the best vocalists. Somewhere between Whitney and Mariah.'

Rockwilder: 'Christina Aguilera has made an excellent crossover from pop princess to here to stay R&B vixen. She has done something her female pop counterparts don't dream of doing.'

Pink: 'I think Christina can sing her butt off.'

Julia Roberts: On her favorite singer - 'Funny you ask. I recently became a Christina Aguilera fan. I guess you could call her the leading lady of pop music. My niece has always really liked her and I watched some concert tape she had of Christina's and it was amazing. Her voice and performance skills almost make me want to become a singer. (laughs) No, I won't put you all through that.'

Charlotte Church: 'Christina Aguilera is fantastic. I think our voices are very similar and we would be great together. My favorite track of Christina's is 'Lady Marmalade.' '

Brandy: 'Christina Aguilera is my girl, and she puts on a great great show. I went to a lot of summer jams and radio-sponsored concerts, and a lot of artists like Pink, Mya, Tamia just really made me miss the stage.'

Faith Hill: 'I think Christina has what it takes to stay around a long time, she's got it all.'

Toni Braxton: 'I listened to a lot of versions before I went in and did my Christmas record, then I tried to implement my own ideas, to make it more Toni-ish. Like, I thought Frank Sinatra's Christmas album was fabulous, and Christina's album was wonderful. I couldn't decide whether to make it sound classic, more current, or to split the difference.'

Mariah Carey: 'I think that she is a very talented singer.'

Freddie Prinze Jr.: 'Christina is the most talented of all of them - by far.'

Brian McKnight: In his liner notes to 'Superhero' - 'To Christina Aguilera, it was a pleasure working with you.'

Orlando Sentinel: 'Britney or Christina: Of course, it's like comparing Gouda with Cheez Whiz. Britney was all over-choreographed, pre-packaged, and tape-recorded. Christina, on the other hand, is the real deal. Real stage banter. Real stage presence. Heck, real singing.'

Dave Matthews: On VH1 performance - 'I think Christina did incredibly well. I'm always impressed with her. She can belt it out and has a smokin' band, too. And they can dance. Good music with dance steps.'

Snoop Dog: 'Christina Aguilera's got a pretty voice.I like her voice. No disrespect to Britney Spears - she got a nice voice too, but I think Christina Aguilera could do more soul with her voice. She could probably sound better on a hip-hop track than that pop.'
Jason Cook (Days of Our Lives): 'I think Christina Aguilera has an amazing voice.'

Jessica Simpson: 'I would love to sing with Christina...she has so much talent...she has an amazing voice.'

Sarah Michelle Gellar: 'People stereotype pop stars, but Christina (Aguilera) proves them wrong with her unique style and talent.'

Neil Diamond: 'Listen to her sing a couple of songs - she is very talented.'

O Town:
On Britney vs. Christina:
Dan: 'Overall, Christina.'
Erik-Michael: 'Mi amiga Latina Christina!'
Jacob: 'I'm big that if you're in the music business, you should sing. So I'm gonna say Christina.'

Chyna: 'She's so lovely and she carries herself perfect, and the belly thing is hot, if my body was like that at her age I wouldn't be where I am today - I'd be...better off.'

Jerico: 'No question about it Christina would be my lady luck! I mean she as I do has the most delicious flowing blonde hair, and we wear the most unique gear, and her voice has gotten her a place on my stand right next to my WWF CDs and my Fozzy album!'

The Rock: 'All The Rock has to say to Christina and her little blonde hair, blue eyed, hip hugging, belly reveiling clothes is....just bring it, the rock will be happy enough to, show you want a girl wants, and he's always had a thing for genies. It don't matter Barbara Eden, Robin Williams, Genie of Coaco. The Rock says Christina is..great.'

Willa Ford: 'Voice-wise, I think I have a unique type of voice! Out of all of us though, Christina has pipes til' heaven, ya' know, that girl gotta voice that would blow Mariah outta the water. I'm NO competition for her!'

Ricky Martin: Responding to claims Christina is a snob - 'I think Christina is a nice girl, actually. She's been just hearing 'you're amazing, you're amazing' since her birth.'

Matt from No Use for a Name: 'Christina Aguilera. Oh my God! She is an absolute goddess in all accounts. Not only is she a complete knockout, but listen to her sing. She's better than Whitney Houston. She's better than all these great singers. She gets up there and dances. She does all the dances and all the singing. Now Brittany Spears doesn't do that. A lot of times I've seen her at shows where she'll lip-sync or she gets tired and can't do all the vocal range stuff that... Christina is an insane singer. Christina. I'm in love with her.'

Patti LaBelle (original singer of 'Lady Marmalade' in 1975):
'Christina sang her butt off!' (She loved the remake!)

Kathy Griffith: 'Christina Aguilera - she can sing, dance and she is sooo gorgeous, Doesn't it make you want to kick her ass.'

Jason Cook (Days Of Our Lives): 'I'm blown away by her voice.'
Kelly Ripa from Live With Regis and Kelly: 'I'm so impressed by Britney and Christina's beauty and talent.'

Carson Daly: 'Christina's constantly had to fight being in Britney's shadow. She walks like a diva, so people think she has an attitude problem. I've never had a problem with her, but I don't have a real sense - by the time people come on TRL, its like they're behaving well in front of their parents. But whether you like her or not, the one thing that has really propelled her is sheer talent like no other teen pop star.'

Ja Rule: 'Christina Aguilera - just because she has one of the HOTTEST a$$es around! Her voice is off the hook, baby girl can sang!'
Would you ever take her out?
Ja Rule: 'Yeah,Yeah, She seems like the party type, ya' know! She seems pretty cool... I just want to meet her, ya' know what I'm sayin', keep it cool.'
So you don't believe what Eminem says about her?

Also, to britney_rocks I said name AND worth. Paris and Nicky, and even J-Lo don't matter. And I love Alien Ant Farm, but wasn't their last big hit a cover song released 4 years ago?

Just like i thought. you have nothing to back up your statement about mariah, whitney et all gravitating towards Christina lol. like I said just because they are her influences doesn't mean they graviate towards her. provide some quotes from credible sources. until then it's just assumption.

britney rocks is right. Aretha and Patti have both complimented Britney also.

did she? Whitney praised britney on access hollywood once. I guess it depends on who she's being asked about at the time lol. bobby brown said he didn't like the cover of my prerogative because if it aint broke why fix it. but he said he loved the video. and he used toxic as his ringtone on his reality show.

I never said nobody has complimented Britney, I've said they haven't chosen her over Christina. Almost none of the quotes you've given have mentioned a comparison of the 2.

And Joss Stone has said numerous times that she would love to work with Christina. So her saying she likes Britney, means nothing. Actually most people you've quoted have ALSO complimented Christina, so again..means nothing. I asked you to find quotes of people choosing Britney OVER Christina. NOT people complimenting Britney. Because I've complimented her myself a few times. I still wouldn't be stupid enough to choose her over Christina.

Also, the Catherine Zeta Jones comment was more of a diss than a compliment anyway, lol.

Also, where are the sources to your quotes anyways?

Also quoting people she's worked with once is not good. Considering when Pink and Christina did "Lady Marmalade" they were rumored to be lesbian lovers because of how close they were. Everyone dotes on the people they work with, because it'd make them look fairly bad to say she was a terrible actress, or singer.

britney_rocks

Well you can't really have one source. Most of them come from the tv shows. Access Hollywood, Extra, The Insider, ET, credible magazines, interviews from different countries.

Kylie Minogue said overseas that she liked Britney more than Christina.
This was on a show from much more music on channel 15 here in Canada. I forget what the show is called.

But in response to your first part of your post the comments they said about Britney aren't any less because you think they don't mean nothing. Someone else also asked if celebrities/musicians commented on Britney's talent. All of them have commented on her talent and that's why I posted these quotes. ;)

Why are you disecting them? Ryan Gosling is a friend of Britney's. I'm sure he'd tell her when she was doing bad or not. But he genuiely feels she did good for the part. Even the director says she was better than most of the "actresses" that auditioned. As for Crossroads what bad things do they have to say about Britney? When you meet her everyone says she's so nice. Especially people like Kelly Osbourne, Pink, Avril Lavigne. They all had a misrepresentation of Britney and when they met her they ended up liking her. It's funny that it doesn't work the other way around for Christina though, because of the things I've heard Pink, and Avril Lavigne said about her. ;)

You realize that you're pushing people like Pink, Avril and Kelly's opinions over people like Elton John, Herbie Hancock and Julie Andrews? I'm not trying to diss Britney AT ALL here.

I mean, how can you people say how much of a lack of credibility Aguilera has, but you bring up people like these?

You also bring up Ryan Gosling. Well, I like Ryan, and he can have his opinion of Britney, but what makes his opinion any more credible than Christina, when she knew her also? They were friends for a while, right?

So what we're basically saying is that everybody's opinions are credible, unless they are against Britney? I mean...the fact that you've quoted Kelly Osbourne is proof that you're just taking the compliments into consideration. That's one thing that you guys have that Aguilera fans don't. There are at least a few of us who will call Christina out and side with a nay sayer. I mean, I've never called Shirley Manson uncredible. I'm not that glib.

They are still compliments whether you like them or not. You are trying to diss Britney. You said their opinions meant nothing. Who cares if their "credible." I do not care about that. These people do what they love to do. They don't need the credit because they know themselves that they can do anything without the "critic's opinions. The only people's opinions that matter are their own/their family/friends/fans. It's great to have other celebrities/musicians see your talents, and comment on your performances, but at the end of the day that doesn't matter. At least I can come up with that conclusion. Yeah...you're a Britney fan, so I must "consider the source" ;)

I shouldn't argue with people who spend 100 bucks for a glorified Mime act, and then call a serious artist's critique "unreliable". It's like explaining the importance of Audio/Video in schools to Helen Keller.

Yes, you have struck a nerve. It's kinda like when you get a really bad sore in your mouth, or under a tooth. And you HAVE to play with it with your tongue even though it hurts?

I keep responding because you keep looking more and more like an idiot, and other people's lack of brains intrigues me.

All of this brouhaha is because you children cannot see how pathetically preposterous your views are. I mean, you cite "Kelly Osbourne" as a reliable person who likes Britney, and call Christina Aguilera's opinion uncredible.

It's just pathetic to me that you are so desperate for people to like her that ANYBODY who says they do is cool in your book. And if they DON'T like her, no matter who it is, they're uncredible. Do you even for a moment get what I'm saying?

It's like saying "Christina said something bad? She's uncredible anyways" and then saying "But, Saddam Hussein likes her!!".

But the biggest thing here is that Britney fans would have the gull to call anybody else uncredible. The biggest joke to come out of music in the last 7 years. Who the only positive press she ever recieves is how "hot" she looked on stage. I've seen cuter girls with more talent on HBO's "Cathouse: The Series"

Jessica has one more year b4 she hits this "7 year milestone".
Ashlee's riding coattails.
Hilary's an actress first, then a singer. It's the same for Lindsay. So... let's see Britney last 7 years in Hollywood, hmm?
And even so, if Hilary or Lindsay sing one song on a soundtrack for one of their movies, they're still in the music business. One song every couple of years for the next 4-6 years is not really some phenomenal feat.

Lasting 7 years doesn't mean a damn thing.

What praise has she gotten for any of those besides from her fans and people who are far up her ass? I've never seen any of this "praise". Why does it seem whenever Christina, Jessica, Alicia Keys and other singers get praise and good reviews it's all over the press, but whenever Britney does it's always some inside story that only her fans know about?

Before you even have time to want another album from Britney, it's already on the shelves. A greatest hits album after 5 years. Yeah, that's longevity for you. Whitney waited 15 years before putting out a greatest hits album. Hell, even country stars put 10 years between their greatest hits albums. This way, they have time to compile actual great hits, not every single ever released from an album. Christina can take a 5 year break (which, pretty soon, it will be) and still leave us "bitches" salivating for more.

Yeah, I've yet to see one reliable celeb make reference to her as "a talent". I've heard them praise her as a great performer, and they've said her music is catchy, but I've never heard them say anything soley doted her vocals, or her substance in the industry.

Also, if you look into it, most of the stuff she gets praised on has little to do with her. And the stuff that does is usually completely unrelated to her profession, which is a SINGER.

The point is, Britney could have been anybody. Her songs are good, and she's a controversial figure. They could have pulled ANYbody off of the street and given them her songs, spread rumors about them, and they'd have been just as popular as Britney. There is nothing AT ALL about Britney that she has actually contributed to.

Okay, maybe she can dance, and her concerts are fun, and whatever. But come on...she's not a dancer by profession, and Barnum And Bailey still has the distinction of being the "Greatest Show On Earth" so obviously she's not impressing many.

That's the point...and her fans seem to think it's a good thing. They seem to think that her releasing new material proves she's good. No...anybody can release an album. But only the GREATS can actually take time off. Her people KNOW she's not that good, and that's why they need to keep saturating us with her.

It's like Paris Hilton, and what I've always said about her. Every couple of months or so she'll have some new drama in her life so she can be in the public eye again, because she knows she's not important enough to last without attention on her.

Britney is proof positive of this. Why else would she claim she's going into semi-retirement and then, what? A few months later release a new single or album, or whatever it was? Because she knew that the faux-retirement bit would give her press. A true talent wouldn't need to do that. They could wait 15 years between albums and their true fans would still care.

Not to say the Christina fans are little bitches about waiting, they are (you kids that are lurking here, you truely are :p) but they aren't turning their backs on her. They're looking all the time for new info, clips, interviews, singles, duets...ect.

Britney puts out records because she can, and she wants to. When she wants to take a break she does. Although she can't really take a break because she's Britney Spears.
Anybody with a microphone and a computer can put out an album. And a whole lot of people want to (Star Search, American Idol, Nashville Star). That doesn't mean people want to buy them because the singer has such great talent.
Even the smallest things she does ends up in the papers, and all over the news. But that's not her fault. It's the media's fault.
That's true for every celebrity. It is her fault when she purposely puts it out there. Even Britney knows how to keep some things private.

Umm People magazine isn't a tabloid. You don't see Britney giving her pictures to Star magazine. <- That's a tabloid. Two completely different magazines.

So selling your story to a tabloid is different than seeling your story to a major publication? Is that like saying top dollar prostitutes are less skanky than cheap prositutes?

And what, pray tell, is your definition of a tabloid? Because I'm certain it's the antis of the ACTUAL definition

"a newspaper that is about half the page size of an ordinary newspaper and that contains news in condensed form and much photographic matter" basically what it means is that it's a small news paper, with more pictures rofl.

The content in a tabloid is no different, credibility-wise than that in "PEOPLE". the only thing in PEOPLE that is any bit more credible than "STAR" "ENQUIRER" and anything else are the EXCLUSIVE interviews. So giving your pictures to "PEOPLE" is no less tacky than giving them to the "EXAMINER"

Oh and one more thing. This talented singer gives praises to Britney on her Myspace account. She's a talented singer and you wouldn't think someone like her would like Britney but she does.

She mentioned her as an influence...that means nothing. She doesn't say because of her great vocals. She could just mean the music. Britney has great music, I've that several times and you've ignored it everytime. The point is, you'll NEVER find anybody praising her voice unless they're people who didn't start getting into music until she came out, and never listen to any other singer since her so to not be able to compare.

Also, she's a nobody. There are many no-name talents who praise Christina. I mean look at most AI contestants. The point is nullified.

And this is what I'll say:

I'm sorry, oh so sorry,
Can't you give me one more chance
To make it all up to you?

E-mail my heart
And say our love will never die
And that I know you're out there
And I know that you still care.

Email me back and say
Our love will stay alive forever,
Email my heart.

I can see you in my mind,
Coming on the line
And opening this letter
That I've sent a hundred times.
Here's a picture of us two,
I look so good on you
And can't you please forgive me
for the hurt I put you through.

I'm sorry, oh so sorry,
Can't you give me one more chance
To make it all up to you?

E-mail my heart
And say our love will never die
And that I know you're out there
And I know that you still care.

Email me back and say
Our love will stay alive forever,
Email my heart.

I'm sorry, oh so sorry,
Can't you give me one more chance
To make it all up to (you).

I'm sorry, oh so sorry,
Can't you give me one more chance
To make it all up to you?

E-mail my heart
And say our love will never die
And that I know you're out there
And I know that you still care.

Email me back and say
Our love will stay alive forever,
Email my heart.

So selling your story to a tabloid is different than seeling your story to a major publication? Is that like saying top dollar prostitutes are less skanky than cheap prositutes?

It's been hours, seems like days,
Since you went away,
And all I do is check the screen to see if you're ok.
You don't answer when I phone,
Guess you wanna be left alone.

And this is what I'll say:

I don't even know what the site really is about, my brother asked me to put it on as a favour

And since that is bogus, it must TOTALLY destroy all my credibility as having any knowledge about music...

She didn't deny the rumors. She does have an album coming out so she wants to seem all peachy keen for everyone to see.

When's the album coming out? Oh, that's right. NOBODY KNOWS WHEN.
