Let's impeach a President for making an case for war on lies and deceit - of importance, not a BJ - and save another 1800 lives since we won't then be marching into Iran when the polls dip below 40%.

And Dukie wonders why they hate us.
It's partly because there are so many of you out there, D.
I'd add a "wink" or a "smilie" but y'know, it just ain't funny.

Oh, and how's your buddy Pat Robertson doing? You ought to go on the 700 Club with him, hold hands, sing "Kumbaya", and pray for more death and destruction.

Can't the American government administration decide who are their enemies? One day it is the Shiites, then it is the Sunnis, then it is Chavez these days...Next thing you know their enemies will be aliens from outer space. Who would they be without their enemies?

if this was 50 years ago we would have blown the region to shreds.
I sometimes wonder if we are fighting a war to win or a war that tries not to offend anyone. Since the later isn't working we might as well do the former.

Why do you say that? We didn't march into Moscow when we were done with Hitler.

We have not "fought a war to win a war" since WW II. Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq 1 and 2... all were political miscalculations. While I agree that with Iraq 1 we had to go in and stop the invasion of sovereign nation Kuwait by Iraq, I wondered at the time why we didn't remove Saddam then. In his book, Bush senior writes how his advisors said the US was not prepared to fight an urban war, and that by removing Saddam the country would fall into chaos. Tis a shame the son hasn't a tenth of the father's wisdom on that issue.

If you don't expect an invaded country to offer some resistance, then you are living in a fantasy world...
Iraq is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Enlighten me to whom in the American Administration said Chavez was the enemy.
If your intimating to what Pat Robertson said, you are being very hypocritical. I dont see you holding your religious leaders responsible for calling for the deaths of other groups of peoples.Robertson is a religious leader to some people.Hes not in our Government.
Ive always wanted to ask you a question. What country do you live in?????

Condi Rice said, in her confirmation hearings, that Chavez was a "negative influence" in our hemisphere.
To my knowledge, that's the highest-level official comment, although there could be others.

When I say enemy,I mean as in opponents. The U.S. has said that Chavez is a "negative force" in the region and they surely see him as an enemy and opponent. Anyone who is against U.S. foreign policies, whether it be a foreign leader, politicians or even U.S. citizens, they are seen as opponents by those who head the U.S. government.
And who is talking about Pat Robertson's or other fanatical groups of other religious leaders insane and blatant comments?
Where do I live?I've lived in Canada since I was 6 after we fled the Gulf War.

I agree with you, but did you ever stop to consider that American foreign policy is, for the most part, developed in organizations outside the Government? Though many of the individuals who help shape these policies do eventually make it to government posts (going back to Wilson), the reality is the Secretary of State, Defense, etc., etc., are not elected individuals...and almost everyone in the measurable past has come from these think tanks.

If you knew your WWII history, you'd know that was a calculated risk. We did not go after Russia then because Russia was of some use to us at the conclusion of hostilities...in other words, they thought through the downside and decided to play it the way they did for the immediate, not long term, strategic advantage. The same kind of thinking that led us to take the side of the mujaheeden (sp?) during the Afghan conflict with Russia.

I don't disagree with this statement...blame it on the think tanks...

but I am aware that it was a calculated risk, and once again the politicians decided to get into bed with someone who had their eye on the 3rd input. If you need an explanation listen to Howard Stern.
