Aguilera blames papers for feud with Spears

LOS ANGELES, CA, United States (UPI) -- Christina Aguilera says she has the "utmost respect" for Britney Spears and blamed tabloids for fabricating a feud between the pop stars.

There have been several reports in recent weeks quoting Aguilera saying Spears "let herself go" and she "can`t see a comeback in the cards" for Spears, MTV.com reported Friday.

"It`s really sad to see that some tabloid magazines still have to manufacture ill will between Britney and me," Aguilera said in a post on her Web site. "We are both grown-ups and have the utmost respect for each other personally and professionally.

"If certain journalists want to throw their integrity out the window by spreading false information, then so be it," she wrote. "But I`m not falling for their lies and neither should my fans or Britney`s."

Okay, I am a fan of both Britney and Christina, but I have to say that of the two of them, Britney seems more mentally unstable. Did you people even watch Chaotic? The girl is, like, perpetually 16 and thinks that everything revolves around her. Just comparing their relationships with men, it seems clear to me that Britney has more self esteem issues than Christina does. I'm not saying Christina is perfect, nor do I deny that she has been known to talk crap about Britney, but I don't think it's because she's mentally unstable. I think it's because she gets hurt just like everyone else and, again, if you compare the way she deals with those things to the way Britney deals with them, Christina's way, while not as "nice," is a lot more healthy.

And as others have already pointed out, Christina's album doesn't come out for another year or so, so the argument that this is all a publicity stunt to make her seem perfect and sweet is off.

The last part of your post is so incredibly ludicrous that it pretty much discounts anything you say. I have to disagree with this as well. I, personally, feel that there are plenty of delusional people on both the Britney and Christina boards. You can say that "we" realize Britney isn't the smartest or best person in the world, but there are plenty of posts here that would indicate otherwise. And as for Christina's fans thinking she's a revolutionary artist, I have to say that compared to people like Britney, she is. I wouldn't necessarily call her revolutionary, but she is very talented musically AND as an entertainer. Britney makes fun music, but she doesn't exactly push herself or display a lot of talent in the musical aspect of her career. She's largely an entertainer, which is something in and of itself, but Christina is on a different level than she is.

ANYWAY, onto the actual topic of this post. I think it was good of Christina to try and clear the air like that. The whole feud thing is ridiculous and I hope that whatever problems the two have had in the past they've worked them out.
