This is a fact:
Our great ally France has offered the following in the wake of Katrina: 600 tents, 1,000 cots, some kitchen kits, 60 generators and 12 experts to advise the American Red Cross.

Really? And the source of your "fact" is???? According to CNN:
France has offered mobile help from the French Antilles, which is relatively close to the affected regions, including a civil defense detachment of 35 people, tents, camp beds, generators, motor pumps, water treatment units and emergency kits, two CASA cargo aircraft, a ship (Batral Francis Garnier) and the frigate Ventose with its Panther helicopter, and a hurricane disaster unit (20 soldiers and 900 kg of specialized supplies and medical support).
-- France has also offered assistance from the French mainland including: one or two C-135 planes, one A-310 aircraft , and four C-160 Transalls, an airborne emergency unit. In addition, the NGO Telecoms Sans Frontieres, which specializes in restoring phone lines and Internet service in disasters, is ready to send a team of experts and equipment. Veolia Environment, which has facilities in Louisiana, has offered to make its local water management resources available to the American authorities or the Red Cross. It can also quickly send in a team of hydraulic experts.

Perhaps the "Channel 4 News" somewhere in New Jersey is wrong. Since I provided a link to my factual information, it's not unreasonable to expect the same of you. But more to the point -- I don't see you complaining about Great Britain's contribution to Katrina relief. Gee, do you think that's because they supported the US invasion of Iraq?

France's Saddam deals revealed
Antony Barnett and Martin Bright
Sunday October 10, 2004
The Observer
Dramatic new details of France's secret dealings with Saddam Hussein's regime have emerged as part of a fresh corruption investigation into alleged illicit oil deals.
Three executives of France's largest oil corporation have been charged in Paris over claims that they funnelled millions of dollars through a Swiss company in order to bribe officials to gain oil deals in Iraq and Russia.
The disclosure will embarrass President Jacques Chirac as it follows on from claims last week by the Iraq Survey Group that Saddam indirectly paid French politicians and individuals to gain support for lifting UN sanctions and influencing French policy. The ISG's claims were dismissed by Chirac as politically motivated.

Whatever, kdrago. I shouldn't be feeding your hate so I'll stop now. I'll be anxiously awaiting the link to your source and for your condemnation of Great Britain's contribution to Katrina relief.

I heard it too about the donation from France. It doesn't suprise me of the continued lack of respect from France.

Bush Rejects French Offer of Medical Aid, Water Filters
Bloomberg | September 2, 2005
Germany and France, the two leading European opponents of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, have offered aid to the U.S. to help the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, which probably killed thousands of people in four Gulf coast states.
Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said Germany is ready to provide help including airlift capacities, vaccination, water purification, medical supplies and pumping services. The aid is available in the short term and can be brought to the U.S. on German air force and chartered planes, Schroeder said. The U.S. government has agreed to receive the help in principle, he said.
``The pictures that we see on television are hard to bear,'' Schroeder told reporters today at the Chancellery in Berlin. ``It is not only our historical duty because we've received unlimited help from the American people after the war, but it also goes without saying'' that Germany will try to help as much as it can.
France has 35 disaster relief workers in the Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe ready to leave for the U.S. the minute they are asked, Denis Simonneau, deputy spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry, said at a press briefing today. A 60-strong disaster relief team in mainland France could be sent ``very quickly,'' he said.
Simonneau said France has offered 600 tents, 1000 camp beds, 60 generators, and three portable water treatment plants that are stockpiled in Martinique. In addition two planes, two naval ships and a hospital ship are standing ready in the Caribbean, he said.
French Experience
``We have lots of experience with hurricanes in Martinique and Guadeloupe,'' French ambassador to the U.S. Jean-David Levitte said at a press lunch in Paris yesterday. ``President (Jacques) Chirac has made it clear that France will provide whatever help is requested.''
Nathalie Loiseau, a spokeswoman at the French embassy in Washington, said France made its offer yesterday and is awaiting a response. ``We weren't expecting a response within hours,'' Loiseau said. ``There's an inter-agency committee that meets every day and they will examine the offers and decide which ones conform to what they need and what the U.S. have the means to accept.''

It's interesting that the most hate-spewing person on this thread is you. You should stand back and take a look at what you sound like. It's amazing how many peace-loving, self-proclaiming tolerant folks I know have proven themselves to be vicious, unbendable and intolerant people.

And I would send the mirror right back to you, David, if the stupid ads weren't covering the quote button. That's ridiculous, by the way. You and I have conversations and discussions about politics, and we will never agree with each other, but we also have never been hateful, unlike the person I just responded to, who accused another of hate.
So back off, please.

If I have never been hateful, why send the mirror back at me? :D
And it has been very clear for very long that kdrago is a simmering cauldron of venom and hate. So if Lester calls him on that, does that make him hateful? I realize that in the Rovian world many seem to live in these days that that might be the case, but I am not sure it is warranted here.

I wasn't aware that calling people on their bs is now defined as "hate." Kdrago spews venom on a regular basis around here. His posts are a veritable hate machine. I have no need to stand back and take a look at what I sound like, because I have nothing of which to be ashamed.
And btw, indirectly calling someone vicious, unbendable and intolerant isn't exactly a lovefest, so maybe you should stand back and listen to yourself before lecturing others. Have a lovely evening.

Actually, I take it back. You deserve the mirror after your response to my post on the other thread about the New Orleans evacuation plan. It's amazing how a discussion can degenerate the minute someone doesn't want to believe the facts. But Ties seems to be keeping up with you. School just started and I'm too tired to argue.
Oh, but just so you know, in Vermont we will save our own asses if necessary. That is why we live here. We have close friends, small towns where people know and trust each other, and we know that in the end we can only count on each other. And that includes all the blue liberals here, too, some of whom are my best friends and are respectful in political discussion, understanding that they, like me, have to wallow through all the lies to find the truth.
As for you Lester, I am having a lovely evening, sitting by a fire in the chiminea and watching shooting stars and looking at the milky way, so clear above our home. Watching out for the Northern Lights tonite, supposed to be a show.
Hope you are enjoying your evening, too.
