I hate to disappoint you, but this Bush supporter, who has gone on record criticizing recent actions of late, including the administration's handling of Iraq and Katrina, would vote for him all over again.

You cannot convince me that the nightmare of Katrina (or Iraq, for that matter) would have turned out any differently under the leadership of John Forbes Kerry.

But let's stay with Katrina since the new poll numbers reflect public opinion on this matter.

In reviewing legislation pertaining to flood control, budgets for the US Coast Guard, Army Corp of Enginers, etc., Mr. Kerry's voting card is as follows:

Voted No on HR 1141 (1999) which would have provided $900M for Tornado Disaster Relief to OK, AR, TX and TN; $621 Million for Central America/Caribbean Disaster Recovery Fund (Hurricane Mitch); $230 Million in supplemental funding to FEMa for National Disaster Recovery; $200 Million for CoZast Guard Operating Expenses

Did Not Vote on HR 2561 (not sure of year) included $1.27 for environmental restoration programs; $55.8 for DOD Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster and Civic Aid Program, among other items.

Voted Yes on HR 2311 (A Bush Package!) (Note: LA Governor voted Yes on this package, too -- think she may have worked a little harder on behalf of the needs of her state!) that included funding for a long laundry list of rivers and harbors, flood control, beach erosion and related projects...

Projects included dams up and down the Miss River; flood projects in CA, KY, Kansas, New Jersey...but no where in this magnificent funding package was there any mention of New Orleans or repairs to and/or replacement of the New Orleans levees. In fact, the funding was largely reactionary to the flooding effects of Hurricane Floyd; the tragic floods along the Mississippi and severe flooding in CA.

His voting record in this area is spotty, at best,
however, Mr. Kerry did manage to vote yes on all bills supporting the arts and humanities :noway:

And as we know, many of you libs were quick to point out that the troops would have arrived in New Orleans sooner if they weren't all in Iraq.

I do believe, however, that somewhere along the line Mr. Kerry actually campaigned on increasing the number of troops in Iraq and he clearly stated that he saw us in Iraq for at least four more years.

Who knows, if Mr. Kerry was President maybe all the military would have been in Iraq, with even fewer soldiers at home to handle the mess of Katrina.

So, like the Monday morning quaterbacks we Americans tend to be....your assumption that the new poll numbers indicate an easy election win for Kerry is probably wishful thinking on your part.

Knowing your politics I do not expect that you would vote any differently 10 months later, but what I would ask is would you still display bumper sticker or yard signs? (assuming you did); or could you have supported a different Democrat who was not seen as a despicable elite NE liberal?

Lowest approval rating since just before Nixon resigned. Pathetic.

To all of you who have catapulted bashing of this administration to new heights, please take a moment to read the following Washington Post article.

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/ content/article/2005/09/10/AR2005091001529.html (http://)

While it in no way absolves this adminstration of their role (or lack there of) in the quagmire known as Katrina, it does as good a job as about anything I have read or heard so far in summarizing what went wrong and where. As you will read, there is plenty of blame to go around and then some.

What's done is done. We cannot retrace our steps in order to respond differently anymore than we could have changed the course and intensity of the storm.

At this juncture we need to put away the daggers and focus on the future, because whether we like it or not, this storm will affect all of us for a long time to come.

So whether it's this administration or the next, perhaps we need to hold all of our elected officials more accountable.

P.S. -- Thanks, David! It worked!

The W04 sticker is still on my windowYeah, but its a sticker and its going to stick. At this point you have three choices; sell the car, drive with the thought that others may wonder "what kind of person is driving THAT car", or spend "whatever time and effort it takes" to try and remove that dang sticker while leaving leftover sticker stuff. ;)

The question I was really after was, if you could go back 10 months would you still put that sticker on? Or would you just go about voting and supporting Bush, but less enthusiastically?

1) You're welcome.

2) Katrina is a mess. Iraq is a quagmire.

I'd still put the sticker on. And I I do not feel any need to apologize for my decision or to tip toe quietly about and conceal my support. I'm not in the habit of deserting the quarterback.

And as what others may think of me and my sticker? Probably something like, wow, that's a really nice car!

I don't think it was an issue with Katrina. I do believe that Karl Rove thinks Lincoln got what he deserved.
