Currently 80% fresh at rottentomatoes.com (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/serenity/), it's being hailed as the best genre movie of the year and the best science fiction adventure in decades -- far surpassing all three Star Wars prequels -- earning incredible critical acclaim and near-unanimous audience praise (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/serenity/reviews_users.php) from its clever storytelling, heartfelt characters, and intense action.
The trouble is, not enough people are seeing it; its target audience is few and apparently people are confused as to what the movie is supposed to be about. This is unfortunate because according to exit polls, the movie is actually incredibly viewer-friendly; very few people I've seen it with were confused about the storyline at all.
But, for the uninitiated, here is a brief but concise summary of the plot: "The crew of a transport ship has taken in a mentally unstable girl under their protection. She was part of a government experiment, but her brother broke her out. Now the government is hot on her trail, and the crew of the ship is trying to keep her safe."
If you've been disappointed in the sort of sci-fi we've been receiving the last few years, or even if you're not, or even if you're not even remotely a fan of sci-fi at all...you'll want to see this movie.
