so have you given up completely on actually putting a paragraph from your stories in your post...or are you just going to continue linking stories?

I have five browsers on my computer and only one of them will connect to this site. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it won't copy and paste to this site though, so I'm left with copying down the link on a piece of paper and then typing it in. This is the only site where I can't copy and paste.

Not long ago, you were complaining that I posted too much from each article and that I should just post the link---make up your $#@& mind, would ya?!?

Did ya actually click on the link? This link goes to a graph, not an article, so I couldn't paste it here if I wanted to.

Back to the topic, Wilma now has 150 mph winds and is headed for southern Florida. They say she could be a CAT 4 or even a CAT 5 by the time she hits Florida. If a weak cold front comes down from the Midwest in time, it could "clip" the top off the storm and it may weaken to a CAT 3 or CAT 2.

This Hurricane season is the busiest since 1933, which begs the question, did they blame all the hurricanes on "global warming" back in '33? Did anyone even have a concept of global warming back then? I doubt it.

Within 24 hours, Wilma has become a hurricane and then strengthened into a catagory 5 storm. Sustained winds are 175 mph, 892 mb. Wow. I've never seem a storm get this big this fast.

Regis Philbin

Wilma is a CAT 5 already!

It has a minumum pressure of 884 MB...which is the lowest ever recorded for an Atlantic hurricane.

Man, it grew so fast, literally in just hours!

Why weren't there as many storms between 1933 and 2004?

Regis, are you one of those people who doesn't think global warming is real?

Wilma is now a Catagory 4 with winds down to 150 mph. This weakening was expected. It's slowed down to about 8 mph, which has made the forecast track less reliable. Models now show the storm coming ashore anywhere from the most southern part of west Florida all the way up to just south of Tampa.

My family down in Naples e-mailed my mom and said that they are going inland because of Wilma. My prayers are with the state of Florida.

I'm one of those people who are skeptical about it. Sure, the planet is getting warmer, but, is that the result of evil Republicans burning fossil fuels or is it just part of a natural cycle of some kind? So, what I'm saying is, let's not blame all the evil corporations and rich people and Republicans that don't care about the envirorment for the weather because we don't know what is causing it. What I'm sayin is, back in 1933 we had the same number of hurricanes as this year but we were burning a lot fewer fossil fuels then and in the years between '33 and '04 we burned a lot more fossil fuels but hurricanes weren't at such a high level then. And how do you know that back in 500 B.C. they didn't have hurricanes that were much worse than we have now?

By the way, Wilma has now weakened to a CAT 4 but she's still pretty freakin' dangerous and needs to be taken seriously.

Hurricanes, and even larger weather events wax and wane in cycles. Scientist agree on that. Scientist worldwide also agree that what humans put into the atmosphere effect the earth. There is a real hole in the ozone. That's not speculation, that's fact. There is a buildup of carbon dioxide caused by what humans put into the atmosphere that has led to the greehouse effect. That's not speculation either. The temperature on earth has risin one degree since the late 19th century, with the warmest temperatures on record since 1998. That's also fact. What scientists don't know for certain is exactly where and what will happen given the facts of global warning.

If you don't want to believe me, read this report which was requested by the Bush adminsitration in 2001. http://yosemite.epa.gov/oar/globalwarming.nsf/UniqueKeyLookup/SHSU5BUTQ4/$File/nas_ccsci_01.pdf

This is the EPA's global warming website. http://yosemite.epa.gov/oar/globalwarming.nsf/content/index.html

Regis, it seems to be that you are more intent on defending republicans than researching the facts. I'm not surprised. That seems to be the Bush administration's strategy as well.

By the way, we're already starting to see some cloud cover from the hurricane. It's very warm and muggy here. Even though my coastal county is in west central Florida, officials have already called for a state of emergency.

We're getting some pretty heavy rain now. The storm is still in Mexico. It's moving so slowly that I'm afraid there will be extensive flooding in many parts of central and southern Florida.

Global warming is getting worse, and it's due to EVERYONE who lives on this Earth, not just republicians or democrats. Every country on this Earth is to blame. If you think Bush has to do with it, well, look at it this way, even if he did sign ALL the environmenal issues which were put forth by the congress, we wouldn't see any changes in our environment for many years to come...cuz it takes time to make changes, and see their effects. If you want to blame any Presidents, then look back 10, 15 and even 20 yrs ago.

Weather does go in cycles, unfortunately, we are at one of the worse parts, and I believe it will get worse before it gets better. With those thoughts, I think we all need to get prepared, think about what we will do if a disaster comes our way, and actually prepare...not just talk about it. Put money aside, think about where you'd go and so on....cuz we can't depend on any one, but ourselves. And No I don't say that because our government has failed us this year with the disasters. Our federal gov't was never made for us to depend on, but it seems like over the years, that is what people expect from it.

Anyways, I hope every one stays safe in FL.....You are all our prayers.

Well, Wilma is a CAT 2 now but expected to be a CAT 3 by the time she hits Florida tomorrow. There's a new storm forming---"Alpha"---no telling where that one will go yet.

I'm already feeling the effects of Wilma. It's storming here, and tornado warnings are up for most of the west central Florida counties. Not a lot of wind yet. It's supposed to hit land around Naples about daybreak.

I see where Wilma is now a CAT 3 with winds of 115 mph, however, she has sped up and is moving at 18 mph so she will cross Florida faster than expected.
