Many people think wrestling isn't as good as it used to be, but I think Smackdown! has been great quality television, especially the last several episodes. I just hope they can start pushing the Cruiserweight division again.

I was trying to figure out who the wrestler was who came in before Paul London when Kane and the Big Show were dominating Batista. I thought Cole had said Kidman but I remember he was released a while back. I guess it was Brian Kendrick. I'm not even familiar with who he is. Velocity doesn't air around here, so I don't get to see him.

Hmm. I would think Ken Kennedy is the best choice. The Undertaker is a possibility but they say he is coming back then so I don't think he's a possible choice. Orton, Benoit, Hardy, and Booker will probably be wrestling in singles matches so I don't think they'll be choices for the match. Kennedy would be the obvious choice I would think.

My brother was listening to a Holocaust debate so I'll have to watch it over again. I think they should have had Benoit wrestle Angle in the main event rather than Triple H. It was a good match though. WWE's main site has Nunzio listed as the Cruiserweight Champion yet Juventud had the title on Smackdown!. The title change must have taken place shortly after the show.

That's an odd decision. It appeared that Hardy and Orton would definitely be wrestling.

I was very happy with Smackdown! this week. I thought the wrestlers were genuine in the discussions they had about Guerrero. My father and brother constantly said that they were faking it, but I don't think that's the case. Were Misterio, Kennedy, and Booker all on Raw?

I thought Smackdown! was great. I'm really hoping they start pushing Ken Kennedy soon. Maybe even up to main event status. The Benoit vs. Booker matches should be superb.

He hasn't done too many promo's yet. If he can give great promo's, I think he has potential to achieve the kind of status that Austin, Hogan, and the Rock enjoyed. I could see him being in main events for many years to come. They have to turn him babyface soon.

I have a feeling they'll start to push Lashley in the future. Maybe in the same way they pushed Brock Lesner. I could definitely see Lashley and Angle wrestling at Wrestlemania next year.

It seems very predictable now. Obviously Benoit will win the next 3 matches. I'm thinking he'll win the next 4. I'm surprised they'd have Booker in a 3-0 lead.

Stopanimalabuse
Dec 16th, 2005, 09:07 AM
I think I'll send the WWE an email about getting the Boogeyman to stop eating worms sometime soon. They may not even read it, but I think it's best if they know that some of their fans are grossed out by that. I'm hoping they will at least read the email.

It was pretty gross. Benoit does need to win this in order to keep this rivalry going.

According to a wrestling news site I go on, Benoit may be leaving in January. I guess he hasn't made his decision yet, but he does want to work an easier schedule. He has been wrestling for maybe 18-20 years so I can understand that. He will be missed if he leaves. They also say Mexicool should be getting a push soon, and I guess Ken Kennedy may not come back until June or maybe even later. I guess Vince does think very highly of him, so we could see him in the main events within 2 or 3 years.

I was a little disappointed in the show last night. I thought it would have been best if they made it a review of the entire promotion rather than just Smackdown!. I would have loved to see any of the Michaels vs. Angle matches.

I've read that Booker T will be injured for the next 4-6 weeks. I wonder what will happen now. If Benoit stays, they'll wrestle their final match. Maybe at Wrestlemania? If Benoit leaves by January, they'll have to find a way for Booker(maybe a replacement for him?) to win the match and Booker wins the title based on another wrestler's win? That wouldn't make much sense.

I thought the "Press conference" with Melina was not very exciting and quite pointless. Mark Henry has been pushed before but the fans didn't seem to care;I don't see how it will be any different this time.

I don't even think he was signed under the company but I guess he wrestled some dark matches and was very impressive. I wonder if Henry will be wrestling Batista at Royal Rumble.

I think, at this point, that Melina has potential to become one of wrestling's greatest heel managers. My brother thinks pretty much the opposite I do about her though. Following the show, they said that Orton and Benoit will be wrestling in the seventh match, but I hope that's not true. I'd love to see Benoit and Booker wrestle at Royal Rumble. It's great to see Ken Kennedy back.

I've heard that they're planning for Henry vs. Batista for Royal Rumble. I'm not sure how good of a match that will be.

The new tag team looks excellent. I think they're called Gyminini. I would love to see them create a great tag team division, and I think MNM and Mexicools along with the new tag team are a great start. Were they the Shane twins?

I guess there is a battle royal to determine the winner, but we'll both have to find out tomorrow. I'm happy if they do take the belt away from Batista. Champions should have to defend the belt frequently. He was supposedly angry over the decision, but, if he has 2 different injuries right now, he should allow another wrestler to hold the belt for a while.

I've also heard that Benoit plans to stay in the WWE. I just hope that is true.

Smackdown! was very interesting. Fit Finlay should be interesting to watch. I hope they push him greatly soon. I could see Kennedy vs. Finlay in the Wrestlemania main event a few years from now. It's good to see the Boogeyman finally wrestling somebody good. He hasn't shown too many wrestling moves yet, so this should be a good change for him.

Smackdown! was very interesting. Finlay's matches are the first ones I'm interested in right now. I can see him wrestling Benoit at Wrestlemania this year. I'm also surprised the Gyminini haven't been on Smackdown! 2 of the last 3 weeks. I thought they would be pushed more than they have been.

I was flipping back and fourth between the Olympics and Smackdown! I guess it's Benoit vs. Booker at No Way Out(at least I thought that was what I heard) but I was really hoping for Finlay vs. Benoit. I'm so sick of the Boogeyman by now. It's the same disgusting routine over and over. He hasn't even yet shown any abilities as a wrestler.

Stopanimalabuse
Feb 25th, 2006, 03:16 PM
I was only watching Smackdown! during Olympic commercials, so I can't say much about what happened. It is disappointing that they're bringing Tatanka back and pushing him. It would be one thing if he was a singles wrestler, but him being the Tag Team Champion with Matt Hardy makes the tag team division look terrible.

I thought it was a great show yesterday. It looks like Finlay and Lashley may be wrestling at Wrestlemania. That should be a good match, but Lashley is considered green. Animal's heel turn was a little bit of a surprise. Maybe they'll push him, but I have doubts about that.

Stopanimalabuse
Mar 6th, 2006, 10:40 AM
I heard that the were released recently. I thought they were a boring tag team(I didn't watch them wrestle too much so I can't say much about their wrestling ability), so I can understand why they would be released.

Stopanimalabuse

The Finlay-Lashley brawl was interesting. The lumberjack match should be good next week. One of the cruiserweights who interfered in Benoit's match appeared to be Jamie Noble, so I assume they have signed him again as rumored.

Stopanimalabuse
Mar 19th, 2006, 05:26 AM
I was happy to see Finlay win. I was expecting Lashley to win, so I'm glad he didn't. Lashley has a lot of potential, but he's still considered a bit green. My brother and father wanted to watch the basketball game, so I missed parts of it. What happened in Chris Benoit's match?

Stopanimalabuse
Mar 28th, 2006, 06:43 AM
I am a bit late. I enjoyed the Finlay-Misterio and Benoit-Regal matches. I think Finlay will definitely be one of the wrestlers to receive a big push over the next year.

I can't stand Melina's screaming. I just hope she stops doing that sometime soon, but I have a feeling that won't happen.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 1st, 2006, 02:36 PM
Angle vs. Misterio was a great match. Misterio is semi-awful on the mic, but there's no doubt he is a great wrestler. It's not only sad that William Perry is in the Hall, but they talked more about him than Tony Atlas being inducted. For them to make a huge deal about Perry's one mediocre wrestling appearance makes the league look like a joke IMO.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 8th, 2006, 05:16 PM
I wonder how they'll have that match next week if Orton is suspended. The King of the Ring tournament should be interesting. I think Finlay will win it. That guy who came out at the end reminded me of Giant Gonzales attacking the Undertaker at Royal Rumble. I don't know why I feel that way.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 15th, 2006, 08:12 AM
I'm tired of the Misterio video's by now. I thought the one they showed this week was similar to the one last week and the previous ones they have shown. I thoroughly enjoyed the Benoit-JBL cage match. I'm hoping they have a rematch at the next Smackdown! pay-per-view, but it looks like that may be the end of those two wrestling.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 22nd, 2006, 05:30 AM

It's great to see that they're pushing Gyminini(sp?). At least they've been on Smackdown! for two weeks now. If they can start bringing in new tag teams for them to wrestle, I think they could have an excellent tag team division over time.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 27th, 2006, 11:37 AM
The guy who has competed with Teddy Long in the past(I think his name was Palmer Carson) may not be with the company anymore, and I guess he wants out of his contract. I'm not sure if that will have any effect on Smackdown! but I'm sure people will miss him.

Stopanimalabuse
Apr 29th, 2006, 06:03 AM
I didn't care for the ending of the show too much. I was hoping for a clean finish, as I think that's the only way you can make Misterio look like a credible champion. I remember Smackdown! ending with Henry splashing a wrestler on the table at least once in the past.

Stopanimalabuse
May 6th, 2006, 05:00 AM
The Benoit-Finlay match was excellent. About as good as you'd expect from these two. They're doing a terrible job of pushing Misterio as a "credible" Champion. If he is dominated next week against Kalhi, then it'll hurt him even more. I have a feeling that's what will happen.

Stopanimalabuse
May 8th, 2006, 06:43 AM
Are they planning to turn Smackdown! into an ECW show? With Styles' speech on Raw and with all these ECW wrestlers who have signed, I'm thinking that may be their plan. Especially if they keep the two seperate and distinct from one another, I really think something like that could work.

Stopanimalabuse
May 13th, 2006, 05:28 AM
They're giving people no reason to watch the show. The Champion should be the first person you push, yet he loses two straight matches and is squashed in a third. He looked terrible against Kalhi. It certainly won't help Judgement Day's buyrate. I'm sure Tatanka's "rebirth" will help a lot as well. He was popular around 1993, but fans just don't seem to care for him today.

Stopanimalabuse
May 17th, 2006, 07:04 AM
I guess they're trying to have an ECW show on one of the cable networks in the Fall, so it looks like Smackdown! will continue to be a show. Many wrestlers on the ECW will be leaving Smackdown! so I wonder how they're going to do that.

Stopanimalabuse
May 20th, 2006, 06:37 AM
Misterio is dominated again, so he hasn't really defeated anyone. He reportedly needs surgery, so he'll likely lose the belt at Judgement Day. He'll go down as one of the worst Champions ever, but I'm hopeful he'll win it back. The Kalhi interviews seem to be the same every week, and there were far too many recaps.

Stopanimalabuse
May 22nd, 2006, 05:29 AM

The Misterio-Angle match was definitely the best of the show. If William Regal continues his "all hail King Booker" chants as much as he did this past show, I think that could turn people off(it is very annoying after all) and I'm not sure whether that new host will be able to help ratings either. It looks like he is imitating Ryan Seacrest. It is great to see new wrestlers in the main event, and I am very happy to see Mr. Kennedy coming back. I can't wait.

I'm curious to see who becomes the new announcer. The Miz would seem like a good choice, but I don't think that would help the show in ratings. Maybe they'll only have one announcer for a while.

There was no mention(at least that I had heard) of Earthquake's death. That's a shame. Mr. Perfect, the Big Boss Man, and Earthquake were all main eventers at some point, and I don't recall any of the three being mentioned after they had died. Even just a small tribute would have been nice.

JBL wasn't bad as the new announcer, but I don't if I'm going to like hearing his voice every week. I'm assuming this is just part-time. It typically takes a while for announcers to get used to each other so I don't think moving Tazz to ECW is the smartest idea. It does look like Super Crazy and Psicosis will be splitting up. I can't wait for that match.

Kid Kash and Jamie Noble have a gimmick that was in the OLD ECW called the Pittbulls NOT the Steiner brothers.

Melina and Johnny Nitro on Raw and Joey Mercury was sent into rehab.

I don't think JBL is just part-time as a announcer, his career has been winding down and hes got a fairly bad back injury.

Tazz IS ECW they had to move him.

I don't get to watch Velocity, but I have heard their gimmick being compared to the Steiner brothers. If one of them walks around barking, then there are at least some comparisons. Only time will tell whether that happens. If its ratings fall enough, it may not have a TV station which wants it. I could imagine that, if that happened, people like Tazz, Sabu, Sandman, and Rob Van Dam would be on Smackdown! or Raw, but would a lot of the other wrestlers lose their contracts?

suzanne

There's already a lot of wrestling on, so I think it would be best to get rid of Velocity and Heat and just have the wrestlers not on Raw or Smackdown! wrestle before the show airs.

I'm glad to see Kennedy wasn't squashed. I am surprised the Pit Bulls didn't win the belts, but I'm not too surprised Chavo turned against Rey. I had heard that they were planning for him to turn heel for a while. The problem is that maybe 3 matches had been changed from advertised. That is a ridiculous decision. Otherwise, it has received decent reviews(at least from what I've read).
From what i have read Kennedy did get hurt and needed medical attention right after the match. From what i heard from someone who watched it Batista really squashed him so to speak. lol

I feel disappointed about their product as of late. The musical chairs segment was embarassing and Booker's celebration seemed so pointless. Bradshaw's constant complaints about how his mother watches the show gets very old very quickly, and I may have to mute Vito's matches if he continues to announce like this.At least the new wrestler could have potential.

It looks as if Batista will be wrestling Booker for the title at Summerslam. So, basically he returns, defeats Mr. Kennedy in one match, and becomes the top contender to the title. That makes a lot of sense.

I haven't followed the ratings too much lately, but I would assume that's true. They should have had the third match between Kennedy and Batista at Summerslam. There aren't too many popular baby faces on Smackdown!, but the Undertaker could have made a good challenger. Batista can help the ratings even without the title.

In other news, Jeff Hardy has signed with the WWE and will most likely appear on Smackdown! The Hardy Boys could do a lot of good for the tag team division, but I hope they modify their gimmick a little bit. I didn't realize he was having drug problems.

Thanks. That could mean 6 Raw matches? That's a bit absurd. This makes me think that even a Rey-Chavo match may not happen. Raw is their most popular brand, but for 6 of the 9 matches or so to be Raw is an insult to Smackdown! and ECW.

Spoilers for tonights SD:

Dark Match: Gregory Helms vs Scotty 2 Hotty
Decent opener, the crowd was very hot. Scotty goes for the worm, but gets caught with a shining wizard by Helms for the win.

JBL and Cole come out with JBL still playing the heel, throwing up Longhorn signals to get heat. And Smackdown starts.

Opening Segment showing what happened with the "Royal Court" attacking Cena on Raw. Immediatly Cena's music hits (no opening pyro!) and he comes out to 99.9% cheers. Cena talks about how tonight he has backup in the form of Lashley and Batista and will kick Booker's ass.

Match 1: Rey Mysterio vs Elijah Burke
Turkai (Sp?) was ringside the entire match. Pretty good match with Mysterio hitting the 619 and a huracanrana for the win. After the match Turkai stares down Mysterio then destroys him. I think Chavo and Vicky interferred as well with Vicky landing a low blow on Mysterio. It was a long night and its hard to remember.

Match 2: Pitbulls vs Idol & Stevens for Tag Team Title shot at No Mercy
Not much high flying in this one. Basically it was a brawl, with the Pitbulls working their new "stiff" style. Pitbulls get the win and will face London and Kendrick at No Mercy.

Up next was a segment with Kennedy in the ring with memorial wreaths, he says Undertaker's legacy is unmatched and basically said he respects the Taker. Taker comes out to his wicked entrance and stares down Kennedy. Kennedy's mic sparks like it electricuted him thanks to Takers "magic". Kennedy cowers outside the ring for a while, then goes back in to get knocked back out by Taker. Taker posed in the ring with his purple light.

Match 3: The Miz vs Tatanka
Tatanka was way over, seeing as how we are in Oklahoma. Eventually Miz cheats to win. Tatanka agrues with ref and looks like he's gonna clock him by the entrance set.

I'm pretty sure Matt Hardy fought Chavo, but I went to the bathroom. When I got back Gregory Helms had cost Hardy the match.

Match 4: Sylvan vs Jimmy Wang Yang
Good match. Jimmy Yang was incredibly over with the crowd. Some funny moments when the crowd was chanting USA for Yang. Yang hit some great high risk moves, but Sylvan ends up winning out of no where.

Match 5: Lashley/Batista/Cena vs King Booker/Finlay/Regal
Great main event. Batista's pyro is insanely loud! The crowd was nuts the entire match. Not a person sat down. Cena had is arm all taped up (selling the Raw attack) and was isolated for most of the match. He eventually gets the hot tag and Lashley spears Finlay for the 1-2-3. The place explodes. Cena's posing in the ring and Edge appears out of nowhere and lays out Cena. Edge then left through the crowd.

Also when Edge was leaving a fan pelted him with a full large drink right in the face. Edge went crazy and tried to attack the fan. The fan tussled with Edge and security. No punches were thrown I think. The fan was ejected from the building.

It's so predictable that, coming into a major tag match, two of the wrestlers will have a solo match with the heels coming in at the end. Their writing can become so predictable. I was also surprised to see Mercury in action. I don't think they know which brand to put a few of their wrestlers into.

Stopanimalabuse

I hope that Mercury is able to recover well after that match. The ladder match reminds me of the year 2000 all over again back when they used to have plenty of them. Michael Hayes did a great job in his first Pay-Per-View, but obviously he won't have ladder matches every show. A big step in the right direction though.

I wonder what they're doing with the Boogeyman. He goes after a babyface ring announcer, and the crowd reaction to him seems like people don't want to cheer him. I have a feeling he'll be a heel by Wrestlemania.

That was amazing. The diva contest that they showed was far from being one of the highlights of the year, and the Undertaker/Kane vs. MVP/Kennedy was basically a squash match. Neither of those belonged on their year-end show.

The women's division seems to be repetitive already. They have to move them to Raw, bring in new females, or bring the Raw females to Smackdown! People will become bored over 4 women constantly wrestling each other time and time again.

It comes across as being very predictable. Obviously Kennedy won't win the title at the Rumble, then Kennedy will wrestle the Undertaker one last time at No Way Out(along with Benoit vs. Chavo, another rematch), and Undertaker and Batista meet at Wrestlemania.

Deuce and Domino could be an interesting tag team. It's great to see more tag teams in there. I had thought for sure that they'd continue the feud at least until No Way Out.

I'm surprised they'd have a match like Batista vs. Helms. Obviously keeping things fresh in 51 programs per year is a little difficult, but I don't think one person thought Helms would win. The Undertaker striking Batista seemed so predictable. Every time babyfaces wrestle each other(I'm assuming this is the beginning of their feud leading into Wrestlemania) something like this happens. At least the Undertaker has been involved in storylines much more frequently than normal. That's good to see.

suzanne

The point of the match wasn't a victory for Helms but rather to show he can hang with the bigger guys because it looks like they are moving him out of the Cruiserweight Division

Did Cherry play another character prior to this? She looks somewhat familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. My brother says Major Gunns, but I don't feel there's a resemblance there. The main event for "No Way Out" should be fantastic, even though I feel they should be seperating the two more. I think the Undertaker and Batista will win the match.

They have now scrapped the Ladder match. They'll either have the Hardy's vs. MNM at Wrestlemania(which I'm assuming won't happen if they're having another ladder match), or they'll have a 6-way like last year involved in a ladder match. I would prefer them have MNM vs. the Hardy's personally. 6 wrestlers is too much to keep track of.
