Mariah Carey, who was a finalist in seven categories, won five awards at tonight's Billboard Music Awards!
Mariah capped her 2005 comeback as she received the awards for:
Female Billboard 200 Album Artist
Female R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year
Hot 100 Song
Hot 100 Airplay of the Year
Rhythmic Top 40 Title of the Year
The awards ceremony was broadcast live on Fox from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena and hosted by artist/actor LL Cool J.
Mariah walked on stage twice during the ceremony to accept her awards. Her first trip to the stage was to accept the awards for "Female R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year" and "Female Billboard 200 Album Artist". The second time, while accepting her three extra awards, Mariah read out her speech from her cellphone!
This is the first time in Mariah's career that she tops the year-end Billboard category for "Hot 100 Song of the Year". Congratulations Mariah!

Sorry, I'm just trying to like... it's really exciting to be able to hold these awards and just stand here and revel in the moment 'cause I have to thank God for this incredible year really. Everything in my life, the ups and downs whatever, everything is just part of the plan to get you to another level so anybody out there going through any type of struggle, just keep believing and don't let anybody discourage you from reaching your dreams.
Okay, I had to write this down because I forget you know sometimes. (And I love you back) Jermaine Dupri, I love you with all of my heart and I thank you so much for being you, being the kind of person you are. Randy Jackson, thank you so much, I love you, I can never thank you enough. Mark Sudack, absolutely fantastic. Benny Medina, doing your thing. Mike Richardson, Gina Rainville, Lucy I have to thank... they're from the International...see I had to be here tonight, they were trying to keep me in Europe and I said, 'I gotta be with the fans when I'm receiving this award!' so I just had to be here (hey!
