This week in the Hip-Hop charts, Eminem heads for another top spot, the Black Eyed Peas continue to handle their Business and Chamillionaire and Juelz Santana drop heavily.
With the fourth quarter going into its final weeks, Hip-Hop releases are nowhere to be seen in the Top 10. Right on time, Slim Shady is poised to nab another #1 slot next week. According to early reports, Curtain Call, Em's greatest hits compilation, is on pace to register 350,000 units in its first week. Lil Wayne is also expected to debut high with The Carter II likely to sell between 225,000 and 250,000 units.
Only 25 weeks into the charts, the Peas' Monkey Business is close to surpassing the total sales of their last LP, Elephunk. This week, the quartet drops one position and 20% to land at #11- selling 92,364 CDs according to the Hits charts.
Three spots behind, Fiddy's Get Rich Or Die Trying soundtrack appears to be fading fast. In its 4th week, the compilation has sunk 9 spots to #14 and sold 78,299 units courtesy of a 61% chute.
Further down the charts is Chamillionaire who has taken a big hit in his second week on the charts. Though the Lil Flip-assisted "Turn It Up" is still spinning on radio and video countdowns, The Sound Of Revenge drops 56% and 11 slots to #21- selling 58,370 copies.
Right behind, Juelz Santana's What The Game's Been Missing has suffered a similar fate. Despite a healthy buzz and strong showings with his own "There It Go"(Whistle Song) and a verse on Chris Brown's "Run It," The Diplomats' young gun free falls 61% and 14 positions to #23- selling 55,713 CDs.
Lastly, Kanye West sets the pace on his way to triple platinum, Nelly quietly stacks numbers and Young Jeezy shows consistency. In 14 weeks, West's exposure has only slightly shrunk. Despite an atypical video, the rapper/producer's "Heard Em Say" is presently a regular on MTV's TRL and the Chicagoan received the Artist Achievement Award at the Billboard Music Awards earlier this week. And Late Registration is still going strong. This week, the album declines 38% and eight spots to #29 while moving 46,524 LPs. This brings his total number to 2,121,257. At the bottom, Nelly's Sweasuit drops 16 positions to #42 while Young Jeezy's Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 slips four slots to #49. In its second week, Pimp Juice slides 41% to push 38,358 records while Jeezy's 17% slump still allows him to sell 33,185 sets, in its 19th week according to the Hits charts. Thus far the St. Lois rep has moved a total of 102,984 units and The Snowman 1,139,025 CDs.
