MARIAH CAREY just might be reading her own name this morning when the singer joins a diverse group of musicians to announce the nominees for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.
Mariah, who's had quite the year with her best-selling album The Emancipation of Mimi, will reveal the nominations along with Carly Simon, Patti LaBelle, John Legend, Big & Rich, Natasha Bedingfield, Nickelback's Chad Koreger and Cece Winans at 8:00 A.M ET from Gotham Hall in New York City.
Meanwhile, at the same location Wednesday night, the star-studded "2005 Recording Academy Honors" was held to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Miss Mariah, Jay-Z, Yoko Ono John Lennon as well as movie composer Howard Shore.
The annual event, formerly known as the Heroes Awards, supports the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy's efforts to assist area schools in need. This year's beneficiary is Thomas Jefferson High School, which will receive a $10,000 grant each year for the next three years to support after-school music classes and three annual scholarships for students who will pursue a career in the music industry.
As for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, music's biggest shindig will be held in Los Angeles February 8, 2006 and will air on CBS.
