(Lowell, MA) -- The minor-league Lowell Spinners are trying to keep the Yankees out of Massachusetts. "Boston.com" reports the Red Sox affiliate wants to ban the team name from youth leagues throughout New England. Tim Bawmann, the team's GM, released a statement saying that children in the region become, quote, "devastated" if they get put on the Yankees. To help convince little league teams to drop the name, the Spinners are offering to pay to replace the jerseys of the offending team as well as a chance for the youth teams to play at the Spinners' home park. The New York Yankees are the arch-rivals of the Boston Red Sox.

It sounds proper to me, there is nothing any Red Sox fan would hate more than to play for the Yankees. Afterall those fans have a little more respect than Damon.

You make it sound like Damon was home-grown.

The Sox had plenty of time and the necessary money to wrap up the deal. They didn't.

As for the story at hand, I'm trying to remember if we ever had the Red Sox in our leagues. I was once on the Mets, which I remember being wishy-washy about. After all, a good Bronx boy doesn't recognize there's a major league team in Queens.
