Bemused sibilations in the biz this week over a Variety report that Good Girl Mariah Carey is making a movie comeback. The trillion-album-selling bathetic warbler, who does possess a remarkable eight-octave vocal range, stunned the world with her brilliant journey into the heart of mawkishness in the cliche grinder Glitter. (She followed up with a more controlled performance opposite Mira Sorvino in Wisegirls.) She is slated to star in Tennessee, a drama from Monster’s Ball producer Lee Daniels about a waitress searching for her estranged father to help save her younger bro from leukemia.
