Ive had the same. They dont like English cos the English dont speak French. They dont like the French cos they abadoned Quebec during the war. They dont like Canada cos they are owned by Canada. And they dont like the US cos not everyone is catholic there!
Ive experienced it.

I am not English, I'm Welsh, but I'm supporting England! I always do and the other home nations and the Republic of Ireland if they qualify. I usually end up picking a random team as well. For instance, in Euro 2004 I supported Latvia as well as England.

Wow, cool. You get to go to a match. Let us know how it goes. I went to Berlin this time last year with my ex. If I was still with him I'd be going to Germany to visit him as he's there right now. Ah well. I can settle for watching the games on the TV. He hated football anyway haha.

The first game has just finished. Lotsa goals! Two very good goals as well. I hope all the games are as open as that. Something tells me that they won't be though.

What a great goal by Kaka. I am thoroughly enjoying this World Cup. I hope England win on Thursday, even though I have adopted Trinidad and Tobago as my second team. The Ivory Coast are my third. I'm not English, but as a Brit I am supporting England. For the Czech Republic, that Rosicky looks like a good player.

Well, to be honest Brazil being the hot favourites definitely has to work hard to retain that title as the Champions of World Cup 2002 and for that i was expecting them to have an easy win over Croatia like maybe the most is 3 goals to nil but when i heard them won a slim margin by 1 - 0, i guess its time that we pay attention to the underdogs as well. Yes, 3 points is all that matters by the end of the day but when two teams are going for the 1st spot, definitely the number of goals makes a huge difference as well.

In fact i think the team that has a comfortable win is Australia, totally unexpected of that. But I am an [b]England fan so i hope that this time round, England will win by scoring for their team and not just waiting for the other team to make mistakes in their games. England did play well the other time, but definitely we are expecting a lil bit more spice in the next match.

Tonight, i can't wait to watch Spain vs Ukraine, gonna be an awesome match as well.

Gal1015
Jun 14th, 2006, 09:40 PM
Yesterday was a great match between Spain & Ukraine and i wasn't really expecting the scoreline to be that comfortable and even Germany's big score was 4 - 2 with the other team scoring two but in this one, its a clean sheet.

I was expecting the match to be a very close one like maybe 3-2 or 2-1 and no doubt that Spain totally possessed the entire match except that after the second half, i can see some of the Spanish players laid back a bit, perhaps due to the weather [its 32 degrees!] and as much as i supported Spain to win, the red card on one of the Ukraine player was not necessary. Yes, Spain was awarded with a penalty but at least have the player with a yellow card coz the contact from the reverse angle is not the one that major.

Anyway, i can't wait for England's 2nd match against Trinidad & Tobago this Friday the 16th at 12.00 midnight... eeerrr... which is tonight! lol...

Good luck to England and hopefully England wins tonight's match.

Jun 15th, 2006, 04:11 PM
Well, England certainly had me worried there for a while! I was not impressed when they took Michael Owen off (I'm a huge fan of his) but leaving Crouch on ended up being a good decision. I was happy to see Gerrard score as well. :)

I'm guessing then, Owen's removal by stretcher just a while back was a low point? :-\

Ugh, five months minimum out! Poor Michael Owen, he has just had so much bad luck with injuries this year. I am going to miss him so much. I will just have to turn my attentions to Stevie G now as he is my favourite player that is left in the tournament. Get well soon Michael!

Well, Portugal top the group and beat Mexico 2-1. Angola draw with Iran 1-1 so Mexico go through in second place. I wouldn't want to be in that group, because they'll face either Holland or Argentina in the second round I think.

Well, Argentina top the group with a 0-0 draw with Holland. Would anyone agree with me that Holland are possibly the best country to have not won the World Cup? I predicted 3-3 for this match in the predict-a-score thing I entered. Hmmm, got that a bit wrong haha.

Keller did a fine job. You can't blame him. All the goals against him, he didn't have any defense in front of him... Not including the PK. I'm glad to see the media agreeing with me that Arena messed this one up from start to finish. That still wasn't a PK, but that isn't why the U.S. lost.

What a game! Thoroughly enjoyable. Mexico played really well, especially at the beginning. Heinze probably should have been sent off, but what a sensational goal by Rodriguez to clinch the win in extra time. Goal of the tournament? England tomorrow. I am getting worried that the English (not British) media is a little too confident about tomorrow's match against Ecuador. I know that on paper England should win, but this is football and anything can happen. It would be dangerous to underestimate Ecuador.

wow and i thought Argentina was gonna loose today for Mexico :P but at the end they won..it was a tough game and next will be against Germany...i cant wait to watch !!.

Aww poor Michael Owen..he is out..thats sad..lets see how England will play tomorrow...if im not mistaken its against Ecuador ?? Interesting match to watch for sure!.

I still dont know what to think about Brazil...i guess i will have to wait and see how they will play against Ghana. I just wished Ronaldo Gaścho would play a lil better than what he is playing so far...but at least the other Ronaldo scored 2 goals so im happy that he starting to get on the game although you can see he is not so thin as he was last World Cup.

I think it is fair to say that Ronaldo does not quite look his best. However, I have seen all the people on the TV covering the football criticise him and even say he's past it. A few years ago when Pete Sampras was not having a great time, I thought he should give up. Then he won the US Open. That taught me a lesson. Never write off champions. Ronaldo has done some amazing things so I didn't really want to say he was past it and what did he do? Score two goals! I wouldn't put it past him to get a few more and surpass the all time World Cup goal scoring record which he has already equalled. All week I have kind of been defending him, saying it's dangerous to write people like that off.

England today were, how shall I say it, not very good! I know Owen getting injured was a huge blow but I think they're missing Gary Neville the most. Hopefully he will be fit for the next game. I am glad Beckham got the goal and hopefully they will play better against Portugal. If they want to win, they will have to. I was so looking forward to the Holland v Portugal game and I thought Holland would win. Although some bookings were deserved, the refereeing display was terrible. He just made Graham Poll (the referee who handed out three yellow cards to the same player before sending him off!) look a whole lot better! I think there was a total of 16 yellow cards and 4 sendings off. I don't like to criticise referees too much because they do a difficult job without the advantages of replays, but this ref really was bad. All I can think is that he must just be having a bad day!

db44
Jun 26th, 2006, 10:54 AM
Wow. What an ending to Italy-Australia. Am I wrong in saying this one will be remembered for a long time? Australia played well, and I feel bad for them, but I can't fault the ref as that was a great fall by Italy.

muffins
Jun 26th, 2006, 04:13 PM
I think I have just watched the most boring game of the World Cup so far. Ukraine v Switzerland almost sent me to sleep, especially the second half! I got scared when the first two penalties of the shoot out were missed. I thought it was going to go on for another half an hour!

db44
Jun 27th, 2006, 09:05 AM
Nice move by Ronaldo to set the record...

Jun 27th, 2006, 04:05 PM
Yeah, congratulations to him. I didn't see it properly as I was in a pub, but in the France v Spain match it looked like Henry made out he had been elbowed when he hadn't.

Lehnmann just became a world-class goalie. He proved Klinsemann and a number of others right. Good job by him. I have a number of Arsenal fan friends who he always made nervous, and that went for me when I would root for the Gunners (as an American, I have now absolute loyalties. :p). I wanted Kahn, so I'm happy for Lehnmann for proving me wrong.

My dad's an Arsenal fan and he really likes Lehmann. Not as much as Seaman but I think that's impossible haha! My dad said he has been really good this season. Not that I support Germany, but I am glad they went through because I think these tournaments are better when the host nation does well.

edit: They now play Italy in the semi because they beat Ukraine 3-0. Pretty much what I expected Italy to do.

muffins
Jul 4th, 2006, 04:24 PM
Wow, what an amazing match! I thoroughly enjoyed watching that match. Well done to Italy, they deserved it., but I feel for Germany a bit. I like it when the host nation does well in the tournament. I can only hope that France v Portugal is as half as good! I hope it is played in a similar spirit.
