Could we start a board under "General stuff" for this category? I know there are other people on this board who are interested in these subjects as well. It would be appreciated. Thanks.

Or maybe a science forum? That way a broad range of topics would apply, including animals and the environment, but topics would not be limited to those two topics. :)

How about just having some kind science and math forum with subforums which include General Scientific Discussions, Scientific Opinions, Space and Astronomy, Biological and Health Sciences, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Math and Physics, and one more subforum for all the wierd stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere amongst the above.
I imagine if this idea goes through, it may take a little while but once people start discovering it (through Google, invitations, or whatever) I'd say that it would become quite a hit.
Note of advice: If this forum with its set of subforums does come into being there would be a need for moderators to keep the discussions moving smoothly by removing if neccessary off topic posts which have nothing to do with the topics being discussed.

It sounds like a good idea. Even though I would probably feel wierd posting about animal rights in a Science forum.

I like the idea, but shouldn't you narrow down the sub-forums a little bit? That seems like too many.

I agree with Colin. At least to start things off, a science forum alone would be sufficient, I think. Then if it became popular, there might be grounds to create the subforums you had in mind, Java.
