He quite possibly cost France the championship.
He should have used his head before he used his head.

*LOL* Very true.
What a farewell game it was for him!
Anyway, congrats to Italy! :D

How can he use his head if matarazzi or whatever his name is tells Zidane that Zidanes sister is a prostitue and zidane is a terrorist. That is just so poor. They need to use such poor methods to reach the championship. Dive Kings Holla.

Playing at that level, in that situation (2OT of the championship game), a true world class athlete would have shrugged it off as trash talk, and gotten his revenge with a winning goal.

Jul 10th, 2006, 07:12 PM
Oooh, a terrorist. I didn't know that had become the worst putdown in the world. Somebody better tell Bush to stop using such a dirty word, the FCC might have to fine the White House.
The pinch story is intruiging though.

So, if someone tells you the same in the street, you have the right to go and hit him?? That's not acceptable; what Materrazi said to him is not acceptable either; but still, he should have known that he just wants to get into him, and he did.

Jul 11th, 2006, 04:41 AM
well lol of course it wouldnt freak me out if somebody said such things to me. But well you always have to take a look at someones heritage and ethnical background. Of course its no excuse to do what he did to Matwhatever but well lol Its still a very very poor method from the italians to use SUCH ways to win the cup lmao.
I mean what about what they did to the Germans llol ? Fifa didnt want to charge german soccer player Frings for that what happened with Argentinia well an italian journalist watched the tape again and called the Fifa. He told the Fifa Frings would have threathened Cruz. LOL Thats just SO Poor.
and well against Australia . Holla holy dive !!!!
................ i would feel ashamed if i was an italian lol for sure !!

Mind games have always been a part of sports. Distract your opponent, and you get the advantage. In this case, it worked even better that Materrazi could have hoped.
Zidane is apparently too stupid to actually BE a terrorist!
db44
Jul 11th, 2006, 10:20 AM
Yeah, mind games are part of every sport. Yogi Berra would spit on rookies' pants as strike three was on the way to distract them. When George Brett got his 3,000th hit, the first baseman distracted him by talking about Brett's family in the stands. Brett got so into the conversation, he was easily picked off. Throwing high and tight... And these are all just baseball stories. You should hear some of the stuff said at the line of scrimmage during an NFL game.
I don't care if what they say Materrazi said is true. He didn't say anything cruel as far as I'm concerned. For that matter, if Zidane is that homophobic, then he is scummier than I thought.
It does add to the need to examine the ref in that Netherlands-Portugal match. He handed out all those cards, but no red for a headbutt there? "A clearly red card offense"? He should never be allowed to officiate again.

I would like to add this food for thought.
Yes, trash talking is a part of the sporting world. Soccer/Football is supposed to be a game played with the feet not the mouth.

It's part of being professional. If you can't handle taunting, it's as unprofessional as going over the line with it, imho.
A friend just gave me this link:
