She's won five Grammys and gone platinum several times over. But there's one thing Mariah Carey hasn't done -- played a concert in Albany.
That's going to change on Sept. 1 when Carey brings her "Adventures of Mimi" tour to the Pepsi Arena. She'll be joined by opening act Sean Paul. Arena officials made the announcement Tuesday morning.
Over the past year, Carey has staged an amazing comeback, selling more than six million copies of her latest album.
This won't be the first time Carey has been to the Capital Region. Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady was chosen as the site for her first concert special in 1993, and the theatre is featured in the video for her hit "Hero."
Concert Promoter Stu Green said, "She did promise that she would come back and play Albany because that really helped get her career really jump-started and move onto that direction."
Tickets for the Pepsi Arena concert go on sale June 2. Prices range from $20 to $155.
