It’s been a long time since a real pop diva came to Edmonton. So is Mariah Carey real enough for you?
The pop diva to end all pop divas is set to perform at Rexall Place on Sept. 21. Carey is still hot from her wins at the last Grammy Awards and her most successful album in years, The Emancipation of Mimi. She’s launched an extensive world tour behind it, dubbed The Adventures of Mimi: The Voice, the Hits, the Tour, which needs no further description.
From humble beginnings as a songbird with a five octave range and a well-publicized marriage to - and then a break-up from - the president of her record company, Tommy Mottola, Carey became one of the top-selling female artists in the world. She can still sing like the dickens.
Tickets to the show are $109.50, $89.50 or $69.50 and go on sale Friday at 2 p.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets (451-8000).
