This may be the first movie since Sith that I try to see on opening day. At first I was put out by the idea Disney would make a movie about my favorite childhood Disney ride, but when I saw the first Pirates, I loved it.

The only thing which would make this movie (and the soon-to-be-released third flick) classic already is if the rumors of Keith Richards as papa Sparrow came to light.

I had heard that he is shooting his scenes in September.

I can't wait to see "Dead Man's Chest" either. Not only because Johnny Depp, Kiera and Orlando are in it, but also because it looks like a good movie (I loved the first one), it looks funny, and I love the fact that it's in the Carribbean which is the perfect back drop to any movie.

My fav quote from that movie is said by Orlando.

"What about Jack?! I can't leave with out Jack!" *Turns to see Jack being chased* "Never Mind, Lets go!"

Haha, Something like that.

I think my favorite quote as seen in the trailers so far is from Depp: "Elizabeth!" (turns away and whispers) "Hide the rum."

The trailers have been good, giving away a number of good hints for those who liked the first movie. For instance, seeing Orlando Bloom slapped by wone of the ladies of the night in the pirate town. Also that at least one of the previously bad pirates (the comic relief ones, and not the guy from the BBC version of "The Office") is on board.

Ugh!!! It doesn't open here until next Thursday. And I was in the U.S. up until yesterday! I should've stayed for 2 more days and seen both Pirates and A Scanner Darkly.

Argh, matey! The theater I want to go to tonight doesn't have advance sales online... I'm gonna risk it though.

A co-worker told me this joke that he heard on radio a few days ago:

A pirate captain walks into a bar with a pirate ship wheel between his leg. The bartender is understandably curious and asks the captain "why do you have a ship's wheel between your legs?" The pirate replies...

"Argh. Drives me nuts." :manson:

db, that is one of my favorite jokes!

A Scanner Darkly wasn't that great, by the way...

I just saw it! Fabulous! Absolutely great, with so many nuances regarding the first movie, a number of surprises, absolutely hysterical and great swords play... And Kiera Knightley is hot! Not that that's any big secret.

I saw it again... Probably the last time until I buy it on DVD.

You can tell this wasn't an opening day crowd. They didn't get half the jokes, clap at some of the hommages and surprises based on the first movie.

That's why we decided to spend the $8.50 each to see it at midnight. We wanted to go with the fans.

There were 8 sold out theatres. Amazing!

A question for other people who have seen the movie so far...

Or I guess somthing to be on the look for when people see the movie.

It's something a few people I spoke to at work today (who saw the movie) also noticed:

When we see Tortuga, the pirate town, and the guy being dunked in the well, doesn't he look like he's Disney animatronics?

I liked it much better than the first one. I didn't think it was all that great, but it was fun. I'm really glad it shattered all of those records, though. Good for Johnny Depp. He's created one of the most memorable characters in cinematic history. :music:

that was a great pirate joke, db44!!

i saw the movie opening night at the drive in, and i thought it was great! it had some really halarious scenes, great action, and some creepy sequences. it was a good mixture of everything, and it definitely deserved to break the records it broke. i cant wait for part 3!
