Dallas County To Bill Mexico For Immigrant Care
Dallas County, Texas, is planning to bill Mexico for medical services provided to illegal immigrants.
The plans were announced Wednesday.
Currently, Dallas County said it spends about $15 million a year on health care for illegal immigrants.
That is on top of the $27 million spent on free services for Texans living outside of Dallas County.

they already have free health care. my friend works in the County ER and any illegal that goes in there with a broken foot gets healthcare and no bill. my uninsured father goes in there with a broken foot and he gets charged up the ass for it.
sounds like illegal immigrant health care to me.

These illegals are going to bust our healthcare and welfare systems. They just drive up insurance premiums and taxes for the rest of us. It's ridiculous and the politicians (both parties) don't seem to care...

There are about 100 times more uninsured Americans that are accomplishing all that just fine, and will continue to do so long after the scared Republican fantasy fence is built.

Health insurance premiums are going up not because illegals, although they may have a tiny role in it, but because of:
1. America's aging population
2. More and more American's are getting expensive medical procedures done such as heart bypasses and hip replacements
3. More and more American's are suffering for health ailments at a younger age.
Regis, instead of being a mouthpiece for your beloved ill informed conservative pundits, why don't you do the research and find out for yourself why healtcare costs are rising.
Having said that, it is true that although illegals themselves don't use up a lot of state and federal resources, their kids, especially kids who are born here, are entriely dependent on such resources. At this point in time, it has simply inconvinient for Americans to have illegals around because their kids seem to be a burden on the government. I say that's the least the government can offer these family after decades of turning a blind eye to their rights for a fair wage.

So we just add another 12 million non-citizens to the rolls?
Sounds like typical lib logic to me. Free healthcare for eveyone!

Dallas hospital plans to bill Mexico
By Hugh Aynesworth
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
July 9, 2006
DALLAS -- Parkland Memorial Hospital plans to bill Mexico and other countries to help cover the costs of health care for indigents.
The plan, which also seeks payments from adjoining counties in Texas, has brought a negative response from the Mexican government, with a diplomat terming it "an act of discrimination."
Last year, hospital officials said, Dallas County spent $76.5 million to treat people from outside Dallas. Of that, almost $27 million was not reimbursed.
Much of the cost was for treating patients from adjoining counties in Texas, which Dallas County officials claim is unfair to local taxpayers.
Collin County, just north of here and one of the state's richest counties, owed the most of any single entity, Parkland officials said -- about $7.6 million.
County Judge Margaret Keliher said she was not hopeful that other counties -- or countries -- would pay up.
But, she said, the county commission thought the matter should be made public and bills sent.

Regis, do you know the difference between the meanings of indigent and illegal? If so, why are you using a misleading headline yet again? One can be a legal resident, or a native-born citizen of this country, and still be medically indigent, thanks to this country's fabulous health care system.
Be sure to post a follow-up on the hospital's success in collecting money from Mexico. That ought to be no problem at all.
