Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, proposed to his girlfriend Kari Ann Peniche on stage last night in Las Vegas, a source tells Us. Carter initially planned to go directly to a local chapel but decided a proper wedding needed some planning. The couple reportedly plans to wed in the next six months.

Peniche, 22, was named Miss United States Teen in 2003 but had her title revoked after she posed for Playboy. According to her MySpace profile, updated yesterday, she is currently single and does not want kids. She might want to update that.

Carter, 18, is the youngest solo male singer to have four Top 40 singles. "House of Carters," a reality show about his life with brother Nick and their three sisters, premieres next month on E!.

The engaged pair stayed at the Palms Casino Resort. It will be the first marriage for both. Carter's rep could not be reached for comment.

This is Aaron we're talking about here. I'm not trying to say it could never happen, but in this day in age, it's highly unlikely. Your parents were married in a COMPLETELY different time. Marriage isn't taken as seriously now a days as it was back then. To me, now, not trying to bad mouth my generation, but the maturity level of teenagers has definently dropped in the past 20 years or so. Especially when it comes to making HUGE decisions like that. Yes, I know, I'm talking about myself here since I'm 17, but I'm smart enough to realize that kids my age throw some crap around that really shouldn't be thrown around. We jump the gun because of stupid urges, and then we have to pay for them later. So, it's really hard to believe that an 18 year old, and a 22 year old of this generation, or day in age, could actually make a marriage last. Come on, 18! That's barely legal. She's 22, barely legal to drink. So, now you wanna get married? It's almost funny, but sad at the same time.

Honestly, all of this commotion may be for absolutely nothing, and I'm sure someones gonna set things straight within the next few days. The pictures are questionable though, I'll give you that. The quotes though, lmao, they weren't as convincing. Seemed kinda rehearsed, but we shall see.

Well, if I was in her shoes I'd be worried too if my 18-year-old brother proposed to a girl he barely knows. She knows him better than any of us do and I guess she just sees Aaron's wonderful idea backfiring on him soon. Angel may talk too much but it's only logical that she is worried.

I understand she's worried. And I understand why she's worried. But let's put this into retrospect: Where was Angel when Aaron was hitting the drugs? Or sleeping around? She didn't seem too worried about him then, otherwise, don't you think she would have done a little something to intervene? I just find it hard to understand why she'd be so worried now, I find it hard to believe that Aaron's best interests are her top priority. But I do however understand that she is worried. But that doesn't mean she has to shoot off her mouth about this girl to people on the internet. If she has a problem, she needs to take it up with Aaron---whenever he's comfortable to start talking about it.

Well, I agree with that. I think that after what happened last weekend, Aaron's like in seclusion really thinking about this whole mess. I don't think that he really knew what he was doing back then, and maybe, just maybe, he is not so sure of what to do anymore. Many peopl are saying so and the fact that he isn't picking the phone from anybody says a lot of someone who should be all happy that he is engaged. In any case, this is not the way go about things when you mean to commit yourself to someone for love. Dating for a while is the way to go. You don't get engaged to someone after a week because it's bond not to work. We are not talking about Romeo and Juliet here.

I see what you're saying, Raquel. I certainly don't agree with the way he's gone about doing this, but I say that in the sense that it's something I would not choose to do myself. For Aaron, this could turn out to be the best thing that he's ever done. But we don't know. My guess is he hasn't been answering the phone to his family because he's too chicken s hi t to talk about what he's done. I'm sure he's read Angel's flattering online comments. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not Angel's biggest fan right now, but that's something they'll just have to work out between themselves, if that's the case. Maybe it could be the basis for HOC Season 2, perhaps? lol
