Musharaff Reveals New Bin Laden Intelligence

September 19, 2006 6:08 PM

Brian Ross Reports:

For the first time, Pakistani President Pervez Musharaff has revealed that his government may know the general whereabouts of Osama bin Laden.

Speaking at a meeting in New York earlier this week, Musharaff conceded that bin Laden may well be in his country, according to people who heard his comments.

"We believe he is somewhere between Bajaur, Pakistan, and the province of Kunar in Afghanistan," he said at a meeting connected to his appearance at the United Nations.

As recently as last week, Pakistani government spokespeople had said bin Laden's whereabouts were a complete mystery.

The area described by Musharaff is a mountainous region north of the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Musharaff told the New York audience that bin Laden "could be in either Pakistan or Afghanistan."

Given the fact that it wasn't Pakistan that bin Laden attacked on 9/11, maybe it isn't really Pakistan's responsibility to bring him to justice. Maybe the United States should have stayed the course in pursuing him rather than cutting and running to Iraq.

^ Gee, there's a thought.

Since our beloved President has indicated that he's not concerned about bin Laden, why should Pakistan pick up his slack?

"I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country."

-- George W. Bush talking about bin Laden, 3/13/02

meanwhile we continue to fight in Iraq......i guess getting the people responsible for 9/11 is not important.

The only thing important to Dubya right now is lining the pockets of himself and his oil cronies. Oh and possibly starting World War III with Iran ...

^ Nostradamus may have been off by a few years, but he may yet pin WWIII acurately too.

My Foxism for the day: One of their headlines heading into the Bush speech yesterday: "Bush to Use Iran to Show What is Wrong With Middle East." Or something to that effect. Yet Bush went on to say He wasn't against Muslim society... Am I missing something that those two demographics are very closely intertwined?
