Now it's typhoid or something, some "water-borne" disease. He's either close to death, recently dead, or been dead for the past few years. Take your pick.
Do some people actually believe that when he dies, terrorism will cease? Do people still believe that al-Qaeda will die with bin Laden? *coughBushcough*

This is what, his fourth death?

I thought the first rule of journalism is not to claim rumors like these. It makes people look like ameteurs(sp?) IMO. There have been reports that he attended an American hospital around July 2001, so I wouldn't be surprised if he died around that time.

The government has a way of running with the smallest rumors and turning them into war and hysteria... So I wouldn't go pointing out what the media does with such things.
Besides, I'd definitely call this newsworthy, so long as the basis of the story is stated.
And don't worry, Osama will be healthy enough the next time Bush needs him...
Or will he turn it the other way. Kill off this character, say "see, no longer a threat!" (and watch his numbers rise) and create a new public enemy number one? Will that be Iran? Mussaraf? The PTB better not play with Pakistan too much... If India gets too many ideas, we could have serious problems.

Are you kidding? When was the last time the media passed up a good rumor? Remember the so-called "massacres and looting" after Katrina? Turned out to be false.
I don't know if Bin Laden is dead or not. I do think he's been sick though. And that's why we haven't seen him on TV for a couple of years. Maybe they're planting this rumor in the press in order to get him to come out from hiding and prove he's still here. Hopefully they can get some clues on his whereabouts and health from a new video...just a thought. He does have a bit of an ego, ya know...

So if he dies of natural causes, will that be justice for you?

Bin Laden may feel lure to disprove his "death"
Sun Sep 24, 2006 10:01am ET
By Mark Trevelyan, Security Correspondent
LONDON (Reuters) - A leaked intelligence report of Osama bin Laden's death has met scepticism from Western and Muslim governments but may increase a clamor from his followers to show himself on video for the first time in nearly two years.
One theory surrounding the mysterious French leak is that it was designed precisely to flush the al Qaeda leader into the open, prompting him to release a new tape that might give a clue to his whereabouts and state of health.
"Western intelligence, the Americans, the Saudis want bin Laden to appear," said Diaa Rashwan, an expert on Islamist groups at the al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo.
"Perhaps they're trying to agitate him to appear by video to try to fix some information about his real (location)."
Rashwan said expectations of an imminent appearance by bin Laden had mounted among contributors to Islamist Web sites discussing the report of his demise.
The French regional daily L'Est Republican quoted France's DGSE foreign intelligence agency as saying the Saudi secret services were convinced the al Qaeda leader had died of typhoid in Pakistan in late August.
You see? Your friendly conservative board member hit the nail on the head!
They're playing on his ego. They're hoping he'll be enraged by this report and show himself on video again to prove the report wrong. Let's hope he takes the bait. :]
P.S. No, I did not read this report before my above post. Honest!

*sigh* I'm sorry, I don't mean to stereotype you lefties but you make it so easy. This is such a typical liberal response.
It's like we should just let him go because if we kill him it won't stop Al Qaeda and they'll just hit us again. Well, they'll hit us again regardless of what happens to Bin Laden. They hit us on 9/11 totally unprovoked. Same with the U.S. Embassies in Africa. Same with the U.S.S. Cole. Same with Kobar Towers. Same with the first attack on The World Trade Center in 1993.
I'd prefer to see Bin Laden die in front of a U.S. firing squad but if he dies from typhoid he dies from typhoid. *sigh*

How do you think Jesus would respond, Regis? Or does Christianity not apply when it's not convenient?

No, our friendly conservative board member found an article containing quotes from others whose theories aligned with his own. I don't know why that's such a big deal, but you seem mighty proud of yourself. There is no proof that the story was leaked for this specific purpose.

You just did stereotype all liberals. I don't accept your insincere apology, because you consistently stereotype liberals.
Bring bin Laden to justice, sure. It's a matter for law inforcement and always has been in my book. No need to invade sovereign countries.

LOL @ when anybody asks Regis about Christianity, he doesn't respond. It wouldn't fit his agenda, idiot.

Just saw a CNN interview with the French reporter who wrote the story. He's sticking by it. They also showed a clip of President Chirac asking for an investigation about how this memo was leaked. So, it seems there really was a memo about the supposed Saudi info on bin Laden's death. Still no actual confirmation that he is dead, though.

Once again, you're wrong. My point was that death by natural causes wasn't exactly bringing him to justice.
