View Full Version : Who wants to be a millionaire

MJ
Jan 15th, 2001, 12:26 PM
"Millionaire" continues to do well in the ratings airing four times a
week, its audience is among the oldest on TV and has increased ABC's
median age to 46, second oldest only to CBS. That's a concern in
Hollywood, where advertisers place a premium on youth. "We're not
unhappy at all," Bloomberg said. Still, the network is bringing
proven magnets with young people - Nick Carter and Howie Dorough of
the Backstreet Boys - on the game show in February. Metallica's Lars
Ulrich, KISS singer Gene Simmons, Emily Robinson of the Dixie Chicks,
Sisqo and Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath also will be on the music-themed
special episodes.

Looks like we're getting some musical celebrities this time.I hardly ever watch the show but I'll watch Mark McGrath.Have you ever seen him on Rock N Roll Jeapordy...He's a machine...he beat everyone else by 20,000 dollars

iggy
Jan 15th, 2001, 12:31 PM
And Emily beat the other Chicks when they were on Musical Jeopardy! I have low hopes for the Backstreet Boobs.

Nick Carter on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? This I have to see...

Regis: And for $1,000,000... how many hostess cupcakes come in a box?

sunshinegirl

If Nick gets the first question, I'll be shocked beyond belief.

Lance was supposed to be the "smart" NSYNCer and he embarrassed himself...

NikDC
Jan 15th, 2001, 01:18 PM
If anyone remembers the debacle that passed as a quiz show on MTV's BackStreet Television, I think Nick's I Don't Know should compare to Rudy's similar answer on Survivor...that is if he can stop playing with the fast finger thing to answer the question.

At least WWTBAM won't make me listen to "Alright!" over and over as Nick plays with the buzzer like a monkey with a new toy.

sunshinegirl
Jan 15th, 2001, 01:25 PM
I saw the BSB on Rosie...

They played a game where they had to answer questions about the other guys in the group.

Nick has forgotten that he was in a garage band when he was younger and couldn't name the group...

talk about Einstein...

Jan 15th, 2001, 01:34 PM
What is WWTBAM? A song title?

iggy
Jan 15th, 2001, 01:37 PM
Who Wants to be a Millionaire...I'm so not apt at the acronym titles found on boyband boards usually...this one took me a while.

We should place bets out of which orafice Nick will bleed the most when he is asked a question. Or a full head explosion is a possibility also. If Kevin is his phone a friend, he's doomed. Kevin can't complete a sentence in 30 minutes, much less seconds.

sunshinegirl

"Who Wants to be a Millionaire"...

You must have been looking at the ceiling through this topic ISOJ ;)

sunshinegirl
Jan 15th, 2001, 01:40 PM
Kevin is one of the biggest morons on earth.

How much you want to bet that if Kevin IS a phone-a-friend that he'll find some way to whine about NSYNC during the question...

iggy
Jan 15th, 2001, 01:43 PM
It would never work. All the grease in his hair would prevent the phone from staying in place during the critical time period. Reeeg would only hear, "Whoa, I dropped the phone...whoa, there is goes again. Damn NSYNC."

I don't know, I thought that, when one hates something, one avoids talking about it. Guess I was wrong.
I would have never expected ya'all to be that immature; guess i was wrong again.

Jennifer K.

Real maturity here. Gee I thought this was the 80s forum, not diss the Backstreet Boys forum. Its not like you're going to get the money anyway.

Jan 15th, 2001, 08:59 PM
I thought the proper pronunction of alright was "aight" these days. And if I'm being peddy does that mean I do bad things to children? New slang term for pedophile or something?

sunshinegirl
Jan 15th, 2001, 09:19 PM
I don't know Bonz...it's hard to keep up with the kids' slang nowadays...

And I thought that part of being "mature" was being able to take a joke. But apparently now maturity is defined by picking fights with people who do not give a damn...

Jan 16th, 2001, 09:09 AM
Nikki or Richard, maybe one of you can help me out with this question. Why is it that we've been told to stay away from the BSB board and not to go over starting fights with them etc....then when they feel the need to come over and intrude into one of our conversations it is okay. I can recall several occasions where some of the members of this board went into the BSB board and started something or simply gave our thoughts about a topic. Once all the little girlies got upset we were told to leave and to not come back, leave them alone, stay on our board etc. Yet, when one of our topics wanders (as it always does) some members from the BSB board can freely come over and say whatever is on their mind. If I had been here I wouldn't have been as nice as bonz, sunny, iggy and whoever else responded and I would have been reported to the 'higher authorities' and a request would have been made to block me. Has something changed and now all boards are fair game and we can go and let our opinions be known without any repercussions? Or are we still supposed to sit back and let the little people speak their minds and say nothing? It seems to me that if we have been told to stay away from their board that they should be told to stay away from ours so that their feelings don't get hurt.

iggy
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:18 AM
I reckon that the higher ups believe it's alright if it takes place in the confines of our little realm. We have fun rattling others...and it gives them an escape if they can't take it. The worst thing that's ever happened is Nikki became our moderator...blessing in disguise. Would have happened sooner or later. We're fine with it...and it rarely occurs.

Yes, I said reckon and yes I complimented Nikki.

sunshinegirl
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:27 AM
Chicken little, the sky is falling!

The BSB girls can come over all they want. I find their pathetic antics amusing...

vester
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:27 AM
Hope I'm not intruding on this ...

It's ridiculous to say you can't say what you want on this board. Or state your opinion in any other forum. I love 'NSync (there I've said it, first step is admittance) but do I not see humour in them? Of course I do. Did I cringe when Lance was on WWTBAM? Holy cow, yes.

This is one of the wittiest forums on here and when you have a chance to be "peddy" and immature - take it!

iggy
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:31 AM
Vester likes us...vester really likes us. Most importantly, (assuming) she gets us. It's all done in fun. There are too many terrible things going on outside my window to worry about stepping on cyber toes. Education and experience will teach anybody that.

Theoretically, I like NSYNC too, but I'll crack on them till it gets dark if it provides me amusement.

garnet
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:40 AM
What struck me funny about that post is that there are people in the BSB forum who talk like that. Somebody posted a topic about the boys being on the show and there was some "concern" noted about their knowledge, especially Nick's.

There aren't a lot of people in this forum that like BSB and like to joke about them but I don't get offended.

vester
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:40 AM
Absolutely! I will tell you my theory on Lance. If you ever look at any pictures of NSync, Lance is never looking at the camera. My theory - he sees dead people.

sunshinegirl
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:41 AM
"gets us"? I didn't realize there was something to "get". But then again, I sometimes forget the level of some of the people we are dealing with...

Hi vester, btw!

iggy
Jan 16th, 2001, 09:44 AM
Yeah, Lance's eyes are unholy.

Anybody, group, or action is fair game with us. We kid because we care...okay, that was a stretch.

Well, shut my mouth! iggy said something nice about me. :o

KY...ig's comment about does it. There's also a smaller group in here and it's easier to say that it won't get out of hand. If you go over there and say something, unbelieveable chaos ensues and everyone and their brother comes in. Juju and Tania have enough problems over there without adding to it. As long as it's here, it's just general comments not intended to start anything.

Fear not...if they poke y'all with sticks, I'll bring down the wrath of Nikki upon them. :D

Jan 18th, 2001, 10:17 AM
Well, I hate to butt in here again, but I just better stick up for myself. I know you guys are talking about something serious, and I understand. There is NO ONE out there in the world that deserves to die to such a horrible disease, and at such a young age...its very terrible. I guess you can only say prayers for his family and hope they are ok, along with his friends, fans, and anyone else who cared for him. I agree MTV should be more serious about it, and they should also make a documentary about the people whose lives were cut short this year. They make documentaries about everything else.....

Anyway, I just wanted to reply to those who were offended because I called you guys immature for bashing the Backstreet Boys. I myself am completely offended to be referred to as a "little girl" when I am not, and I never heard anyone in the BSB forum refer to any of you guys in a belittling manner. I am not a little girl, and yes I am a BSB fan. Because I am a fan of theirs does not imply that I am 15 and desperate, and I think its also rather rude, since most 15 year old BSB fans are a lot more mature than people think. But anyway, I never thought there was a rule not to post in a forum, nor do I think what I wrote was offensive in any way. I came here because I wanted to see what the forum was about, and I thought it was weird to see people in here calling them names like moron and once again bashing Nick about his weight, but hey, if you don't like them and that's the way you want to express it, that's cool.

Think whatever you want. Nick is fat, Kevin is a moron, they all suck....That's fine with me, but just don't refer to all BSB fans as crying little girls, when we just simply replied in a pretty mature way. I also have nothing against having a little fun, and I didn't know you guys were joking around. I thought you were serious...

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that I have no problem with any of you guys, and I am newer to the LD board, so I don't know what happened earlier with the bashing. If you were stating your opinion at the BSB forum, then why do you have a problem with me stating mine? Its not even an opinion, more of a reply, and it certainly wasn't derogatory. Oh well...thanks for the time, and I apologize if I added to the annoyance in any way. Don't think all BSB fans hate people that don't like BSB. I am totally cool with you guys, just not being referred to as a little teenybopper when I am not.

The backstreet boys are the greatest musicians in this entire filthy planet. Just look... they truly BELIEVE in what they're saying, they write all that complicated, beautiful music, they are hideously deformed, yet THEY STILL APPEAR IN THEIR MUSIC VIDEOS. They are just trying to bring their "message" to this ungrateful world. And that message is: "glark! floooooooooooook! marnqweee klacken egwaaarp." If you aren't able to get behind those words of inspirational wisdom, sir, then I'll gladly eat my hat. And furthermore, I think that these United States have gone too long without contributing anything positive to the cultural world in general. Think! Right this minute, the Backstreet Boys are somewhere on earth (or elsewhere) giving it 101% for cultural enlightenment of those other backwards yobs all over the world. Without the glory of His Highness the Lord Pope Egberto Mosquito III and his words of scripture (affiliated in no way with Menudo), where would we be??? Am I rambling on? Okay. Farewell!

You could be right....He may just be a moron. I agree he needs to wash the hair though. You'd think with the money they make they could afford some shampoo. Oh well, lately maybe they haven't been making that much, or perhaps he has spent it all on those long coats he always wears-or hair gel...

Anyhow, umm...you guys forgot Howie is on the show as well. Its not just Nick. Although Howie doesn't watch tv or read the newspaper, he may be the only chance they have. Yup! I'm seeing the money now.....
