Matt Drudge has a banner headline floating a conspiracy theory that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has gone into hiding:

Drudge writes:
The woman who would be speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has oddly stayed out of the national spotlight in the week leading up to the big vote.
The high profile, potentially history-making democrat has turned dramatically low-key.
The last photo of vanishing Pelosi on the wires was from an October 21 fundraiser.
And since Pelosi appeared on the October 22 broadcast of 60 MINUTES, national TV hits have been nonexistent.
Nancy Pelosi is apparently the worst vanisher ever. Just last night, Pelosi appeared at a sold-out rally at the Warfield Theater with former President Clinton (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/11/02/BAGHOM4FC51.DTL&hw=pelosi&sn=006&sc=645). Portions of the rally were broadcast on television:

Drudge is also wrong about Pelosi avoiding national television appearances. Yesterday CNN aired a feature interview with Pelosi:

Drudge really ought to stop pretending to be a reporter.

Luckily, just about nobody's idiotic enough to follow Drudge down his path of lies... right Regis?

Nancy Pelosi

http://www.dcpox.com/images/Pelosi2.jpg

Aliases: Speaker-annointed, Speaker-to-be, Miss America

Sex: Female (that's the rumor, anyway)

Appearance: 60-ish, has had so many facelifts face doesn't move when she speaks, wears gobs of makeup to hide effects of aging, uses hair dye by the gallon.

Last seen: Made appearance on "60 Minutes", scared the hell out of all Americans just before Halloween.

Favorite phrase: "I'm in charge!"

Known Accomplices: "Dingy" Harry Reid, known for his shady land deals in Las Vegas. Reid and Pelosi mysteriously vanished about the same time. May be hiding together until coast is clear after election.

Information: Since both Pelosi and Reid are far-leftwing liberal wussies, authorities doubt either is armed (gun control) but are still considered dangerous because of their liberal views. Should approach with caution as both have been known to whine incessantly when cornered or confronted with the truth.

WHERE'S NANCY?

Thu Nov 02 2006 20:25:05 ET

The woman who would be speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has oddly stayed out of the national spotlight in the week leading up to the big vote.

The high profile, potentially history-making democrat has turned dramatically low-key.

The last photo of vanishing Pelosi on the wires was from an October 21 fundraiser.

And since Pelosi appeared on the October 22 broadcast of 60 MINUTES, national TV hits have been nonexistent.

A source close to the congresswoman explains she has been busy behind the scenes.

Pelosi made a brief appearance with Bill Clinton this week in San Fransisco.

I get it... Fox isn't covering her busy schedule of public appearances and those who think Fox really is a news operation (Drudge, Limbaugh and the sheep that follow them) can't understand that there's a whole world going on that Fox News doesn't pay attention to.

‘Vanishing’ Pelosi To Appear At Multiple Public Rallies Tomorrow

The right-wing media — including Matt Drudge, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News — have launched a baseless campaign (already picked up by MSNBC) suggesting that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has gone into hiding before Tuesday’s election.

Here’s an image from Fox News moments ago:

In fact, as ThinkProgress has documented, Pelosi has been featured in numerous public and media appearances recently. Two days ago, she appeared at a public rally with former President Clinton, portions of which aired on television, and in a feature interview on CNN. She also appeared in interviews on CNBC’s Kudlow & Company on 10/24, ABC’s Good Morning America and ABC’s World News Tonight on 10/26, and conducted interviews for profiles in the New York Times (10/30), Newsweek (10/23), and the Baltimore Sun (10/27).

Nancy Pelosi will continue to be in “hiding” throughout the weekend, appearing at numerous public rallies (though Pelosi has indicated that if her daughter gives birth to her sixth grandchild this weekend, she will leave the campaign trail). Here’s where she’ll be tomorrow:

1:30 p.m. Rally with Leader Pelosi, candidate Joe Sestak, Vice President Gore, and Governor Rendell in Radnor, PA

3:00 p.m. Rally with Leader Pelosi, candidates Lois Murphy and Bob Casey, Senator Obama, and Governor Rendell in Norristown, PA

4:30 p.m. Rally with Leader Pelosi candidate Patrick Murphy, Senator Obama, and Governor Rendell in Glenside, PA

Man, there's a photo of the Speaker-to-be on DRUDGE and she looks like she spent her vacation in the plastic surgeons office. Tight, toned and tanned. Wonder how much botox she went through???

Pelosi, D-Calif., was cautiously optimistic about her party's chances Tuesday. "We are thankful for where we are today, to be poised for success," she said in Colchester, Conn. "But we have two Mount Everests we have to climb — they are called Monday and Tuesday."

Her party appears increasingly confident it can ride a wave of public disenchantment with the administration's policies to victory in the House and, possibly, the Senate.

Two days before the election, both parties focused on turning out voters. The numbers historically are low in nonpresidential year elections, with only about 40 percent of U.S. citizens of voting age population casting ballots.

Republicans and Democrats have sent out thousands of volunteers in states with the most contested races to work phone banks and canvass neighborhoods. Both parties also have assembled legal teams for possible challengers in case of voting problems.

Candidates were making their final pitches. Republicans repeated their assertion that Democrats would raise taxes and prematurely pull out of Iraq if they controlled Congress. Democrats pressed their case for change, arguing that Republicans on Capitol Hill blindly have followed Bush's "failed policy."

Pelosi hasn't been missing or on vacation, Richie. I think your brain has been, though.
