View Full Version : Is Beyoncé the biggest female at the moment?

Is Beyoncé the biggest female artist at the moment in the music scene? Britney hasn't made her comeback yet, Madonna's latest album and tour are almost done, same goes with Mariah, and Janet's latest was not that impressing saleswise.
Christina seems to be even with Beyoncé, just a little bit behind her (saleswise) and perhaps Fergie is another who has had some impact in both sides of the Atlantic. So is Beyoncé the female artist again even though she has had only one proper hit from Bday?

It depends on the year. I don't think Beyonce was that "big" in 2005. Mimi owned that year, I think.
And at the moment she has had one proper hit song. The early phases of BDay weren't that impressing and she received quite a lot critique from the press for certain things. But still she might be the biggest one at the moment.

I read the title of the thread and assumed we were talking about her weight. If thats the case, Mariah is the biggest female out there. And Beyonce is bigger than Christina.

Surprisingly, Fergie has been doing better than all the female singers that have been out lately, although Beyonce was a close second, at least when it comes to sales. I'd say that the most respected artists are Christina, Nelly, and Alicia. As for Mimi, we'll just have to wait and see if she could repeat her success with the next album. Britney may make an impact as well. Again, we'll just have to sit back and observe.
I have a feeling that Christina's a little wiser and will have a comeback that's bigger and better than ever! Y'all just watch...

I dont see Ferg being big her next time around. I find her boring as a entertainer but she did have some goond singles.
I think if Christina makes a mainstream album people would eat her up point blank. I think she IS the artist to watch out for. Nelly wont always sell big and Alicia will never sell HUGE but will always do really good for a soul singer.
I think people are waiting for her. I know alot of fruits that like her but didnt get into the retro thing. Her music was too smart this time around let her simplify and make an adult stripped...LEGEND and we wont be the only ones calling her that.

I just noticed this a year-old thread.
UPDATE: Rihanna dethroned Beyonce last year and continues to do reign in early 2008. But many actually proclaimed 2007 the Year of Britney.

Her tour flopped... don't forget we have Christina, Madonna, Britney, Joelma and a few others who are much better than Yonka.

:susp2: Pink has no album for 2 years. Alicia isn't big outside the US - in fact she isn't big outside of urban/rhymic appeal.
I think its obviously between Mariah and Madonna. After then Britney I guess.

Christina has only had 1 top ten hit in the last 5 years.
in what country?
Car Wash (UK) - #4.
TYHB (UK) - #5.
ANOM (UK) - #2.
Tell Me (UK) - #8.
I think you'll find that's more then 1 top ten hit in the last 5 years (UK anyways).

Europe's taste in music and UK's taste in music are usually two different things... UK is somewhat unique market within Europe. In the league of its own.

Yes. She will once again outshine every other female in the game in the minute she drops her first single.
Don't you guys remember that her flop 'Deja Vu' was bigger than many so called hits?

No they didn't. ROTF! Take your delusional, stan @ss back to the Britney boards.
Fergie doesn't have any hit films, and she's not making money like Beyonce. Beyonce is the biggest female right now, there's no denying it. Nobody can compare to what she's accomplished so far except maybe Alicia Keys.

It was? Because I remember it peaking and then falling fast.
And I also remember the day her video premiered and all the back lash she was getting from her fans because they hated it.

Jul 1st, 2008, 09:25 AM
It did fall fast. I said it had flopped but it still was bigger than most hits some singers releaed at that time. Let's use Christina as an example: the biggest hit off her last album peaked lower in the Hot 100 and was not as big as Deja Vu in airplay. ANOM had a longer run but never matched(?) Deva Ju's peak.
