Thoughts of Super Bowl 41:

First off I was rooting for the Colts, but thought the Bears would win. Glad it wasn't so. Congrats Colts, especially Dungy and Manning, who are two of my favorites in the NFL currently. Also condolences to Lovie Smith, who I really became fond of this week. Other than Smith, there's nobody who I really care for on the Bears, hence my Indy preference.

That said, for shame on the broadcasters, attacking Grossman from his second thrown pick on. He was solid until he had to take chances late. It was the kind of story where they hoped for it and waited for the moment to use it. Like how Jeter could have struck out in the 2001 World Series and he still would have been nicknamed "Mr. October."

The commericals I felt were a letdown. Faves were the GM retired factory machine, the Coke Black History Month and... Argh, forgetting already. K-Fed was okay... Bud with the crabs and the auctioneer priest were good too.

Rock, paper, scissors was excellent. In fact, pretty much all the Bud Light spots were good. The Coke ads were stupid.

Oh, and I think the Colts defense should have gotten a collective MVP instead of Manning. Peyton was good, not great. The D kept the Bears off balance the whole game.

Yeah, rock paper scissors was a good one. See I forgot that!

Peyton falls into that Jeter/Grossman category. He would have had to stunk up the joint even in a win not to get the MVP I think.

I also liked the gorillas.

I also agree that Peyton was a lock for the MVP unless he had completely choked. The way the press was talking before the game, they might as well not have bothered to play.

Oh, and it was nice to see the officiating not decide the outcome like it did last year.

The stats I had read are 3 touchdowns, 7 interceptions. Manning played terrible football once again in the playoffs, and certainly shouldn't have won a Championship. His father could have played better than this, if he had actually made the playoffs. That says a lot. It is good that Harrison won though.

It's funny because they had claimed Archie Manning is a legend on the pre-game show. He never even made a playoff game, and his career passer rating was around 68 or so. He was an all-pro for one year only. There is nothing that would make him a legend.
