View Full Version : How to backup Outlook Express email folders and settings

I want to reinstall Windows Xp soon, as I got a virus and after cleaning the computer doesn't work as smooth as before. I gives some strange erros and sometimes it justs hangs up... I want to backup Outlook Express emails and settings before reinstall, and restore afterwards. Any help?:nod:

Thank you for your suggestions. I also found Outlook Express Backup Genie http://www.amicutilities.com/outlook-express-backup which does the job right and fast. I will try them out more and then buy one! If you have any suggetions please let me know...:redcool:

I typically am running Thunderbird right now (would HIGHLY recommend over Outlook express).
What I do (and think you can do w/ outlook express) is to relocate my mail folder onto a different partition on my computer.
That way if I have to blow away the main C: for reinstall, etc.. I just repoint it back and it picks up the mail where I left off.
(Works great for data backup as well - that way you separate all your USER data onto another partition/drive for easier backup)
