Sen. Carl Levin Says Senate Will Pay For Iraq War
Michigan Democrat Carl Levin says the U-S Senate won't stop paying for the Iraq war.
But he says his fellow lawmakers will keep insisting that President Bush press the Baghdad government for a negotiated end to the violence.
Levin is chairman of the Senate Armed Service Committee chairman and appeared Sunday on A-B-C T-V's "This Week."
He says he opposes a move by fellow Democrat and Majority Leader Harry Reid to cut off money for the war next year as a way to end U-S involvement.
Bush has asked Congress for an extra 100 (B) billion dollars to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan this year.
