View Full Version : Dinos and serial killers...

Well, in the ever-fascinating realm of sunshine's dreamworld...we seem to have switched my nightmare themes from dinos to mass murderers. Wonderful.
On Saturday night I dreamed that I lived in this big house with a bunch of people. Some of us kept leaving (to go shopping, go to work, etc) and when we'd come back, at least two people would be dead, stabbed to death. This happened three nights in a row and finally the killer tricked my friend and I into getting cornered in a stairwell with him. Right before I was killed I woke up. This is starting to become disturbing...oh and just a note, there was a toy dinosaur in the living room of my house in the dream. AND, I noticed that on my way to work every morning I pass by the Science Museum of MN, and on the outside there is a huge picture of Sue the T-Rex...maybe that's where the dinos are coming from...
Just thought I'd keep you all updated ;)

:p Oh be quiet X. Or I'll sick my dinos on you...
I like to think my dreams are my way of being creative since I don't get to use my creativity much anymore...

Perhaps that's why I've been dreaming that I'm living in Harry Potter world lately . . . it's an outlet for my creativity. I've got cool powers, though. I can turn into a bluejay! I like my dream world better. :(

FYI Sunny...:) Just in case it's not just your creativity. :p
Attacked
Dreams of being attacked typically represent feelings of being attacked, emotionally, in our waking lives. If we are able to identify the attacker in our dreams, we will learn who —or what— is causing us the distress.
Is the attacker someone we know? If so, we are alerted that we feel threatened (emotionally) by this person. Other common attack dreams— a man or woman being chased by males at night, someone shooting us or attacking us with a knife— may reflect literal fears of violence or vulnerability. If we resist and stand up to our attackers it is a positive sign of self-confidence and assertion. If we are attacked and are unable to defend ourselves, this reflects a feeling of powerless against whomever or whatever our attacker represents. Attackers may also represent internal struggles—“battles” with drug, alcohol, or food addictions, for example, that a person “just can’t beat.” Attackers may also represent social pressures to conform.
Killing
If you are killing someone in your dreams, you are probably expressing hostile feelings. Consider this an opportunity to look at your negative feelings and decide what would be the best and the least destructive way to address them. If you are a witness to a killing, you may be reflecting on changes going on around you that you don't particularly like
Danger
If you are in a dangerous situation in your dream, you may consider this a sign from your unconscious. Take the hint and pay closer attention to your finances, business matters, health, and things in general. If you faced the danger in your dream, it may be a positive sign and an indication that you are capable of overcoming current obstacles.
Death
Dreaming about death is very common and it can be interpreted in many different ways. Death is usually a symbol of some type of closure or end. It implies an end to one thing and a beginning of another. Death dreams usually have positive symbolism. If you are the dead person in your dream, it could imply that you would like to leave all of your worries and struggles behind and begin anew. Dreaming about someone that you care about may express your fear about losing them. Dreaming that one of your parents died may express fear of loss, but it also may be an unconscious valve through which you release anger and other negative feelings. In some cultures dreaming about death and dying is a very good omen that represents longevity and prosperity
Knife
This tool does not have positive connotations. It may reflect the unrest and difficulty that you are experiencing. If you are self-mutilating, consider your actions and/or addictions. Take a hint from your unconscious and modify or discontinue your harmful thoughts or actions.

What about magic, bluejays, and kids with lightening bolt scars, Nik? I also wear royal blue velvet robes in the dream . . . .
sunshinegirl
Jan 22nd, 2001, 11:22 AM
A knife doesn't have positive connotations? Or where do they come up with this stuff?
Well, let's see...I'm not self-mutilating, I'm not particularly hostile, there isn't anything wrong with my finances or health, I don't have any addictions...really, the only thing that makes any sense would be a fear of vulnerability, but that's no more pronounced than at any other time...
I think Dream-interpretation is going to be my new career choice...apparently you don't need to know much ;)

Besides the fact that you're just weird :p, this is the best I could do with your specific dream.
Birds
Carl Jung said that birds represent thoughts while birds in flight symbolize moving and changing thoughts. Birds are generally associated with freedom and abandon. In old dream interpretation books, birds are considered lucky omens (except for blackbirds, which are generally negative). Doves and eagles are generally spiritual symbols. Your dream depends on its details, but if the birds in your dream were flying free, it may be symbolic of spiritual, psychological, or physical freedom.
Lightning
Lightning represents energy and a fantastic, altering force. It is generally a positive dream symbol which represents the dreamers "awakened" state of consciousness. At times, a sudden shift in awareness, or unpredictable news, may shock us and leave us feeling anxious. However, enlightenment of any kind has long term positive implications. When interpreting this dream, make attempts to connect it to important and highly charged events from your daily life which have suddenly occurred or come into your awareness
Magic
To dream of magic and magicians denotes many pleasant happenings in your life and portends happiness and success. If you dream of seeing a magician you can expect some travel in the near future. To see others performing this art shows the dreamer will have many profitable changes taking place in his or her life.

Oh sure...Merry dreams of "pleasant" things and "happiness", while I get "You may be a psycho, go get help immediately"...nice...
It's amazing that I am so normal in my waking life! ;)

Wonder what it means if it's me turning into a bird . . . probably me longing for freedom. Which is true. See, Sunny? My waking moments suck so much that my brain has created a fantasy land in which I may dwell at night (with the help of J.K. Rowlings, apparently). Your brain, on the other hand, is creating these horrors b/c you must otherwise be so blissfully happy! (Hey! Just trying for the positive spin!)
sunshinegirl
Jan 22nd, 2001, 11:47 AM
Makes sense! ;)
I am blissfully happy, after all!
Ok, maybe not "blissfully"...but I'm pretty happy all-around.
I like this idea Mer! Thanks! LOL

Mer, you should be a spin doctor. :p
If it makes you feel better, Sunny, my reoccuring dreams are about things like losing teeth (which is a sign of feeling helpless and losing power) and rollercoasters while being chased by a psycho clown (sign of turmoil in life, ups and downs and out of control--we won't even get into the clown) so I'm about as bad as you are. :p
I know I had a doozy last night but for the life of me I can't remember it.

I have a policy to not eat four hours before bedtime...I sleep in a very dark room with no music on or any other distractions in a warm, comfy bed with a stuffed fish. I don't understand.
The 3rd...what day of the week is that? I may be up for that ISOJ! :D I love Valentines!
Ig~your last comment almost made me spit out my pop...

Maybe it's the stuffed fish that are giving you the bad dreams. Do they come alive at night? Do you have trolls living in your walls? Leave no stone unturned.
The 3rd is a Saturday. 2-4pm. Come one, come all... it should be fun. I went to Michael's and bought $50 worth of valentine making stuff... who knew there was $50 worth of valentine making stuff to be bought? Not I.

Hmm...sounds like fun. Let me check my dayplanner  and I'll let you know :D
No, it's stuffed fish, in the singular. Just one...she's blue and pink and large and she's a kissing fish. Funny that I never slept with stuffed animals until I was 20...
I don't think it's her fault though...
Trolls in the walls need to be looked into though...

I didn't sleep with a Teddy bear until recently too, Sunny. Be proud. :D
My pre-hensile hair is also out of control today. Just thought I'd share.

My hair was washed and immediately thrown into a ponytail, which is still thawing after I went out in the subzero weather with it still soaking wet. It's frozen into submission...

Adult onesies, now that is a concept...LOL..someone needs to patent that!
As for the dreams, I have been having some very weird ones myself, the other night I dreamed that i was beaten up and stabbed three times, don't know who the attacker was though....strange.
Anyway, hi everyone too, i'm venturing from my regular boards :) ~~waves~~

Hey shorts.
I think I remember that some designer once made dress shirts with attached boxers or briefs. Makes sense, but I wouldn't want to be the first one seen undressing in the locker room in my onesie.

Hi shorts.
While I understand the practicality, having worn my fair share of bodysuits and such, I just can't imagine them being very comfy if they aren't fuzzy warm flannel which I don't see as the latest fad in dress suits. Perhaps I should give Hugo Boss a call...
Not to mention the acrobats needed when having to go to the bathroom...

Bodysuits with snaps in the crotches that would rub on your leg when you walked and cause you to have blisters in places you shouldn't ever have blisters... not a good thing.
Those were popular right around the same time Bell Biv Devoe was popular... they probably caused a few crotch blisters too.
Hey Sunny, our tickets have been printed. :)

Jan 23rd, 2001, 08:02 AM
Not onsies, literally. There would be no snaps. Just normal drawers with a dress shirt attached to the top. No chafing.

Jan 23rd, 2001, 08:04 AM
Oh yea, I had a few of those blouses/shirts with the crotch snaps. You had to be very cautious of going to washroom well in advance of it being absolutely necessary.
And forget about it after a few drinks. The tabs usually ended up somewhere on your shoulder.

I was thinking last night that the name of this thread would be a good name for some post-punk band. I can hear the echoing, gravely announcer voice:
"Green Day . . . with opening act from Waukesha, Wisconsin . . . Dinos and Serial Killers . . . get your tickets now at Tickemaster.com before they're GONE GONE GONE . . . ."
Maybe that's what your dream is, Sunny. It's suggesting an alternate career choice for you. Skip law school, go for the neo-punk band . . . .

Why on earth did you use the town of Waukasha, WI in your example Merry? Who, except people who live up here even knows that Waukasha exists?

City of Waukesha is involved in a case I'm working on and a doc. with "Waukesha" on it was sitting right in front of me when I wrote that post. Just thought Waukesha sounded like a funny play for a punk band to come from . . . . :)
