"Increaingly irrelevant" is what the White House had to say about Jimmy Carter, who had earlier called Bush's administration the worst in history in regards to foreign policy.

How would Bush know? Carter's the one who is still internationally respected... And his legacy here after his time served I think surpasses anything Bush will do tenfold. Heck, I've applied to join the Jimmy Carter Work Project with Habitat this fall. Can't picture Bush doing anything like that.

The President of the United States is a position that is going to be criticized...no matter what you do.

However, as the sitting president, your administration should not be taking part in trading barbs like this with former Presidents. President Bush's admin is in no place to be making comments like that.
