Helgeland Rewriting Scott's Nottingham
Source: The Hollywood Reporter June 5, 2007

Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential) has been brought on board to rewrite Nottingham, Universal Pictures' revisionist take on the legend of Robin Hood, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Russell Crowe is starring, Ridley Scott is directing and Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer is producing.

Crowe stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a scenario that sees him more noble lawman than an evil king's right-hand man and facing off with a more shadier Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest.

Universal is hoping to being production early next year.

I hope they get Emily Watson to play maid Marian and Jude Law for Robin Hood's character. What a love affair that trio would make!

Russell Crowe > humanity

They should get Keira! She already played Gwyn in some cheesy Brit adaptation and she's worked with Tony. It's about time she works with Ridley. :D

Doesn't she have a full plate ATM? Anyway, maid Marian should be played by Emily Watson or no one else. THE END.

She just finished two movies and she's filming something right now. She doesn't have anything lined up after that. The timing is perfect. She and Russell would produce mind-blowing chemistry.

OMG! V, what about that Abbie Cornish girl? They say she's good, and she seems to be raising her profile. She's in The Golden Age, and like a ton other movies, I think. She could get the job.

I really want to see Emily play Marian.

Abbie as Marian? No! She just played his niece or cousin in 'A Good Year'. That would be weird. :p I don't think I've seen her in anything else.

See, they've even worked together already! I'm just throwing her name as a possibility, but yeah, she's new.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Isn't Emily Watson close to his age? Or is she older than him?

He's 43. She's a little younger than he is.

They should get Shiloh. She's ripe.

And Universal's "Nottingham," starring Russell Crowe, is probably going to wind up with a 2009 release.

"We've always presumed that ‘Nottingham' would be a 2009 film but we would not set a date until our development is a little further along," Langley notes. "And we're not in a horse race with the other studios to get our pictures dated before the others.

I'm planning to watch 'APHC' soon. It's available on demand. I just have to make some time in my oh-so-busy schedule.

You too busy to see a movie? Intervention!!! What's wrong with you, V-womun? :noway:

You report to me as soon as you've seen that movie. I honestly just cannot wait for your reaction.

Hmm, many possibly good movies opening in '09. Nottingham, Disney's film version of Prince of Persia ( I seriously hope Michael Bay stays with the Transformers and he doesn't make this :( ) and Pixar's Up, which I posted about. Also Cameron's Avatar, which promises revolutionary special effects, and maybe Spielberg's Lincoln? I'm sure he'll make that after Indiana Jones.. Oh, apparently Wes' The Fantastic Mr. Fox won't be coming out until then. I was hoping it'd be out next year. But there's the Hindi movie this year! Did I say it right? Or should I have said Hindu?
