I think it depends on how she presents herself the next time around

She's not over, but it really does depend on how well her comeback works. If she puts out good pop music and does what she does well, I think people will embrace her. But if she acts a fool and seems to disrespect her fans, the public, or her own job, I think people will drop her quickly.
Anyone is capable of a comeback at any time though. She could flop this time around and still come back in a couple years, it's all about timing and having the right product and attitude.

i think britney needs to step away from the spotlight for a while. her reputation has taken a hit this past year and people need time before they're able to change their perception of her.

No, All she really needs is that one BIG comeback performance (which I'm expecting at this years VMAs) and she'll be right back to where she was (or close to it anyways) :)

Britney doesn't have the ability to step away. They follow her everywhere she goes.
Even though she has made an extreme effort to stay away. She's only been photographed 5 times in 4 1/2 weeks. She's doing good.
Britney is a worldwide seller. Of course her career is not over. She has the most anticipated album of late 2007-2008.

I don't think she'll ever be as popular as she was in 2000-2003. But, she'll stick around.

i dont think her career is necessarily OVER, but she needs to wok really hard on making her music awesome and presenting herself really well. however, i agree with some other ppl in here in saying that i think she needs to take a break..stay outta the spotlight for a while and take time to figure herself out.

I think people have the word comeback all wrong. A comeback has to do with past musical cd failures which isn't the case with any promoted Britney album.
People called Mariah Carey's return a comeback because she actually didn't do well with her prior two albums before TEOM.

i really dont think Britneys career is over... she will come back and people will remember why she was great in first place.. there isnt a female Pop artist around that does it quite like britney and she will prove that with her comeback! as long as she keeps makin great music which im sure she will.. (and on that note i want her to work with max martin again! lol) then she will definately be back on track!
i used to HATE brit.. coz she was everywhere, then she went away and i realised how much i actually liked her and how BORINNNNNNG the VMA's were and to be honest every other award show! :(

i think she had a strong chance for a comeback after divorcing kevin when she went on letterman and was in magazines the next day and week with her new haircut and everyone was happy for her, and they even cheered and threw confetti on the view, etc. this would have been good had she just appeared occasionally in magazines for the next few months out with her kids, leaving a recording studio, etc. but then she screwed it up by getting drunk all the time with paris, flashing her cooch left and right and shaving her head. she should stay away from the public as much as possible for a while and avoid the paparazzi as much as she can, work on her music and come back in a few months looking good and performing good pop songs that she can dance to. she still has a chance, it's just a matter of whether or not she's willing to do what's necessary for the public to embrace her. she obviously still has their attention, but it's up to her to make it work! that said, singing aside, i still think she's one of this generation's best entertainers.

^ It would've been too soon anyway for an album. Because she was taking care of her kids to even before the partying you know what I mean? Now that the custody is final and she has a set time of when she sees the kids it's a great time to use for preparing the album and she is. She just had dance auditions this passed weekend, and was just in the studio for about 4 hours.

lets face it guys, britney has made mistakes both in her career and in her personal life, but what person her age hasn't made mistakes? everyone has made some of the same mistakes she has even, only everyone in the world knows about her's which isn't fair to her. she has a great chance of being just as good as she was before..she just has to do it at the right time and i dont think right now is that right time for her.

She has a small chance of a semi- decent comeback. But she has to do it big cause she lost the respect of many when she got married and had children so quickly. And then there is the whole thing with her flashing everyone.

exactly what i meant when i said she needs to find the right time to do it. i think what she really needs is some time to herself, away from the paparazzi and the press and everything. i know its next to impossible for her to have a real/normal life, but i think its what she really needs right now. time to sort stuff out.

I just hope for the best for her. I mean at the end of the day she is still going to be Britney Spears. Everywhere she goes she is gonna be followed and papos are going to take pix. She needs to start off by damage control and looking decent in public. She has improved from months back but still people see her as a joke. And its unfortunate cause she is probably one of the few talented performers out there. When I say performer doesnt mean that I am talking about vocals necessarily. There are other artist with better vocal arrangements but the whole Britney charm was that she was able to captivate the audience as a performer.

exactly!!! the one things really unique about britney was the fact that no matter if you liked her as a singer or not, ppl would still go to her shows just to see the dancing and the stage antics that she always does. which is something very cool.
i've always been a fan of her's and i always will be, and i feel bad for her right now. ppl need to lay off. just take a step back and try to see the world from her point of view.

the problem is that she was thrown into the world of stardom too young. And she blew up before she even hit 18 and people in Jive used her as their own guinea pig/puppet. And think she started to rely 100% on others (for example Justin) and when people left her she didnt know what to do cause she because so dependent on her. This contributed to her stupid marriage in Vegas and even stupider marriage to Fed Ex. And then the rebelling...

i totally agree..ppl handle stardom in different ways and react to the fame in different ways. she just didn't know how to react to it all i dont think, and when bad things happened in her life she tried to find something else to cover up her pain.

She ain’t over. She is too big to be over just like that. Having said that I cam sick of people saying she made mistakes everyone has made blah blah blah. It’s so OLD and OVER. There is NO NEED to defend her actions. They are they are. She has had brain farts way too many times and that is basically the main reason I find it hard to respect someone like that. It’s like respecting someone who just screws up time and time again. And let’s face it, these things are NOT hard to avoid. And these are not minor mistakes, if they are, I don't know what kind of world you guys live in.

A comeback is coming back after a prolonged absence, or triumphing over adversities. The term is perfectly appropriate.

A return to formerly enjoyed status or prosperity: The film star made an unexpected comeback.
A return to popularity: Wide ties are making a comeback this year.

Well I've always heard it the way I described it but those work also.
The second one really doesn't apply to Britney considering she's always been popular no matter which way good or bad. Like most artists/celebrities are.

ppl called back to basics a comeback to....def. not because of strippedīs sales....just that it took a long while.
britney will sell massive the first weeks, thanks to fans...but i have absolutely no idea how itīs gonna fair cause i havenīt heard anything, but her behavioour says alot....i donīt see britney as a new madonna, so sheīs gonna be pretty much over in some years if she canīt do anything creative on her own and stop acting like an idiot (flashing, drinking etc)
