Do ya think there's just a bit of a double standard? What do ya say the odds are that a male teacher would be doing 17 years in the joint???

Teacher sentenced in student sex case

The former substitute teacher who seduced the captain of the Strongsville High School football team left a courtroom in handcuffs Tuesday, but she will walk out of jail on Friday.
Christine Scarlett could have received up to 17 years in prison for the sexual battery of her former student, Steven Bradigan, who was 17 in 2002 when the four-year affair began. She pleaded guilty in May.
But Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Dick Ambrose spared her from any hard prison time, opting instead to shock her with three days in the County Jail, followed by 180 days' house arrest and five years' probation.
Scarlett, 40, a married mother of three, gave birth to Bradigan's son in 2003. Ambrose said that his sentence took into account her otherwise clean record and her genuine remorse and that it was designed not to punish the 3-year-old child.
"From the bottom of my heart, I am extremely sorry for hurting you and your family," Scarlett said, addressing Bradigan and his parents in court.
"I will always have to live with what I did, knowing it was the wrong thing."
Bradigan, a special-education student with a hearing impairment, told the judge that Scarlett tricked him into having an affair to become pregnant. His words caused her to break into tears.
