View Full Version : what one line reflects where your life is right now?
dari

i know that we all have our favorite lines...but if you had to choose only one line from any song, what line would best describe the state of your life right now at this moment? (doesn't have to necessarily be a bruce song)
i was just thinking today how this could change in a minute if something happens to change something about your life.

Now baby I don't wanna be just another useless memory holding you tight
Or just some other ghost out on the street to whom you stop and politely speak when you pass by
Vanishing into the night
Left to vanish into the night

As a guy, I shouldn't be admitting this or run the risk of being kicked out of the secret guys clubs, but...
I am so in love with my wife (Boss RKS), every day is such a joy. With Valentine's Day coming up the song that has really been in my mind is I Want You (from Main Point).
Therefore, the line (repitiously sung) is "I Want You."
Maybe I shouldn't sign this post to remain anom...Ah heck with it.

I have two...
"Got a head on collision, smashing in my guts man, I'm caught in a crossfire that I don't understand"
and "God have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of."
I'll explain on a seperate thread. I was going to post something nice and happy today, then a bomb dropped at work, and a friend's daughter was kidnapped. Not a great day here.
BossMD, I envy you. I dream of having a wife, heck even a girlfriend that I can say that about. With Valentine's Day coming up, makes me even more upset about that.
BigBonesBilly, I'm sorry :(. I hope that everything can work out for the best.

I don't know what lyric fits the mood I'm in now. I know this is totally silly, but today I found a pic of me and George Clooney from the Warner Bros/In Style party. I'm the little face over his left shoulder above the Golden Globe. You have to click on #3 to see my pic. Some computers show it better than others. When I get my pics back, I'll try to post them. Maybe "I'm walking on sunshine" or I guess the feeling groovy lyric still works.

Not a Bruce song....
"I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"...(or it goes something like that....

some lines which are high on the list (for many reasons) are:
All I know's since I found you, I'm happy when I'm in your arms.
and:
When you need me call my name. Cause without you my life wouldn't be the same...
or:
I had a dream our love would last forever, I had a dream tonight my dream comes true... rendevous...

I'm a Registered Nurse who is currently on Night Duty (2245 - 0715 hrs) so right at this moment the first verse of DITD descibes my life EXACTLY.
"I get up in the evening, and I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the moring, I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired, man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire, you can't start a fire without a spark"
In fact the whole song kinda descibes the way I feel when I'm on nights - guess I go into a bit of a depression once a roster! Only one more night to go then back to normal YAY!

"I got a new suit of clothes and a pretty red rose,

We just had our 8th anniversary this week, and I'll join the others on this board who will openly admit that we're Happily Married Men.
Plus, she bought me the Anthology DVD for an anniversary present --- "Thank you, baby! Thank you, honey!"
I will, however, also admit the Seger line about where did the last 20 years go strikes a chord. It just doesn't seem like it's been 16 years, or that I'm now 8 years older than Bruce was when he was saying: "Clarence! We're .... ADULTS!"

Two hearts are better than one.

Another great topic, dari. I admit I checked this out yesterday and didn't post. Not much changed for me since then.
1. As another happily married man I have to quote from "Lucky Town" too.
"We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walking a hand slips free
I'll wait for you and should I fall behind
Wait for me"
2. This one I try to think of every day:
"I'll be on that hill, with everything I've got"
The thing about Bruce's music is there is always a song that speaks directly to my experience. Kylie's post reminded me of when BITUSA was first released. A local radio station announced a new Springsteen song and I heard
Dancin in the Dark. It was exactly where I was in my life then, and I remember laying in bed and thinking that song was about me. It sort of gave me hope and inspiration that I could rise above....and eventually get out of the dark. Many years later, I finally did!
NCBF - If you're out there I'm thinking about you as I type this because when BITUSA came out I was exactly the age you are now. Take Care and all the best to you in 2001.

"We all know that money, don't buy you love
You just get a job and somewhere to live
You have to look for happiness, within yourself
And don't go chasin' thinkin' it is somewhere else
I'm not feelin' it no more, I'm not feelin' it anymore
I'm trying to give you the score, I'm not feelin' it anymore"
" You spend your life waiting
For a moment that just won't come
Well don't waste your time waiting
Badlands, you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand
As the price you've gotta pay
We'll keep pushin' till it's understood
And these badlands start treating us
good"

"Oh, the price you pay, oh, the price you pay,"
"Now you can't walk away from the price you pay"
I chose these lines because they remind me of the "TEXAS SEVEN". The last two guys surrendered at the Holiday Inn here in Colorado Springs which is 4 blocks from where I live!
Let's just say that folks in this area feel very grateful that all of the fugitives have been captured!

Mine is:
" I want to know if love is wild and I want to know if love is real."
Still hoping to find passion and the real thing! A lot of you are really lucky!
