Who says she can't recover? lol
It was a bad performance but it wasn't a career killer.
As a fan, I am really disappointed with the performance itself and her lack of awareness on stage. You could tell she didn't want to be there and that hurt cause she should at least put on good show for her FANS.
For the people who don't stalk celebrity news( like us daily forum readers) she didn't anything that bad expect not live up to the hype of her comeback performance.
And was still able to get the neutral good out of it.
1. She proved she's not the fat bald girl that tabloids made her out to be. She looked good for the most part.
2. Damn near every celebrity there was praising her ,like the legend she is, before and after the performance.
3. Theres no doubt that out of 7.1million that watched the 2007VMAs(23% up from last years...) some of them heard "Gimme More" and realized that she still makes good music.
Anyway, I'm sure something went wrong before the performance that cause it to be propless and made her less energetic. All the other stage performers had prop items. Britney had nothing... it was almost literally a naked performance.
aleronihead
Sep 11th, 2007, 10:53 AM
^People had all the faith in her before the performance. It was the fact that she couldn't even live up to her own standards that shocked people.
People were only speaking kindly afterwards because they don't want to publicly kick her when she's down, that would just be cruel.
I didn't say she can't recover, I'm saying that is the press she's getting right now, it's career damaging press.

Yes, it was.
Britney's entire career has been based on her performances and publicity stunts, so this whole thing was right up her alley. She could have taken complete advantage of it and actually redeemed herself, but she didn't. I think she honestly believes she's a legend and could do no wrong. That's what happens when you have 'yes' people around you all the time. They didn't stop her and warn her of the damage she could do to her career. Now it's too late. Nobody (besides you guys) will be anticipating another "comeback" from her. The industry will be completely different if she tries to come back in a few more years (hoping she seeks help by then) and there won't be a place for her. Why keep trying to do something that she just doesn't have anymore? She needs to throw in the towel. She's already accomplished alot in her short career. Her and her kids are pretty much set for life. She may not be the next Madonna like people had hoped but she will be remembered as the girl who fell from grace. It sounds harsh, but it's better than being completely forgotten.
kristina
Sep 11th, 2007, 12:01 PM
^ I don't know. I think she could give it another shot.
However, if she sucked the second time she attempted to comeback. Then yes, it's over. Hopefully she learns from this.

Sep 11th, 2007, 12:13 PM
for those who say no one says her career is over needs to look outside Brit's camp. Papers and other casual people all say she is over based on that career. It may not be true (she may bounce back [with some Criss Angel magic]) but people say so otherwise and they actually believe that.

Theres a difference in being disappointed in a performance and actually having a BAD performance where everyone agree it was horrible.
Ive seen performer do worst that usually but Ive never watched a performance where I felt awkward watching care it was so bad.
It's kinda a nail in her careers coffin when your only good at dancing and lipping and yet you failed at that!!
She doesnt have a talent so that kinda why its different...ya know? I know saying she doesnt have a talent is harsh...but after that I kinda dont care about her anymore. She was simply an ok dancer and now shes lost that so...
If she made a damn accoustic album and sang live maybe she could earn my respect or take dance classes up the ass and out dance yonka!

Britney's entire career has been based on her performances and publicity stunts, so this whole thing was right up her alley.
And Christina's career is based on her voice, and she has sounded like **** in 80 % of her performances. JUST SHUT THE **** UP! Grow the eff up already, you can be the only person horrible and sad enough to actually enjoy when a person is reaching rock bottom. It's always easier to talk **** about somenone when they are at their lowest.
And i'm only telling this to you, cause the other people who are critizising (including me) are actually being mature or at least funny about it, you're just being a retard as always. I was SO EXCITED for the performance and so was everyone else! I had high hopes for her, I like seeing people succeed. But she was lipsyncing out of sync, going through the recycled dance moves like a robot. When It was over I was upset. People are not trying to bash Britney when they are saying the performace was bad, they were disappointed and upset. If she went out there and killed it people would be happy for her.

You're mad at me yet Britney's the one partying 24/7 in Las Vegas while her kids are at home without their mother? It's no wonder she's going through a custody battle because this obviously isn't the first time she left them home with the nanny while she was out on the town. She chose to perfom at the VMA's while Kevin Federline was at home throwing their son a birthday party, yet you feel sorry for me!? Unbelievable, but not surprising coming from you. While Britney Spears struggled at the Video Music Awards in Las Vegas, her ex-husband Kevin Federline threw a backyard pool party Sunday – for their two sons' birthdays, PEOPLE has learned.
Personal assistants were seen picking up banners, balloons and an ice cream cake, all in the theme of the animated movie Cars, for Jayden James, who turns 1 on Wednesday, and Sean Preston, who turns two on Friday.
Spears's parents, Jamie and Lynne, stopped by for the party at Federline's San Fernando Valley home, joining about 20 guests. They had also visited their grandchildren the day before, while their daughter was hitting the club scene in Vegas before her widely panned VMAs performance.
Spears, 25, and Federline, 29, are embroiled in an increasingly fierce custody battle over their boys. They currently have 50-50 custody, but Federline is seeking more time, serving subpoenas on people in Spears's inner-circle to show problems in her parenting skills.
It may not have been the same day but that still doesn't excuse her excessive partying habits. Does she honestly need to go out EVERY night? She may be unstable but she's not a freakin' vegetable! People act like she needs someone to feed her and wipe her ass. Give me a break!

Based on you recurrent posts about popstars who are in some way "competition" or something similar to your favourite star who you sound obsessed in every post you make? HELL YEAH! You have almost 24 000 posts to prove it.
i'm done with this. Gotta continue improving my deadlift technique. buh bye.
Ironic that you've read every single one of my posts yet I'm the one with a sad life. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Who said i read evrey post by you. I'd rather shoot myslef with a bazooka than do that. Besides i said you have 24000 post "TO" prove it, not "that" prove it. Sad and dumb.

for someone who's been here for 1 year and 6 months with over 8,000 posts versus someone who's been here for 8 years and 9 months with 23,000 posts
you do the math...

That doesnt prove anything. I'm still not obssesed over someone who doesnt know i exist. I doubt a post count in the internet can determine how sad your life is. Now being obssesed over someone who doesnt even know you to teh point of being hapy about her every mistake all her "competition" makes, that is anotehr story. Besides typing 9000 stupid posts don't require much time, being obsssed with soemone is a different story. :) you do the math.

Then why were you counting posts to being with? You cannot tell the amount of time someone obsesses over someone offline, but online you can and posts can tell that. Mo-Xtina did not spend her 23,000 posts on Britney.

Damn, you didnt get what i said. I did not say it because of the amount of posts (which i find always a stupid indication when argueing, since a post might take 10 seconds), i said because of the content of them. His often posts (the ones he seems to do everyday, not that anyone ha sto start reading all the 24000 posts by him, just teh ones that you or me or whoever else reads when entering a thread any day), show a complete obsession, and usual bashing to his fave artist's competition, not only adressing to britney, and that i find unhealthy to the max. one thing is to joke about a celebrity (ie I'd shoot her, he needs to die, or every day usual stupid comments we all make, that are just a "joke" and in no way we're seriously gonna shoot anyone or enjoy that person's death), another thing is to actaully enjoy a breakdown, or to enjoy someone doing bad in life, or enjoy someone getting borderline. That is the sad thing, and whoever feels that way need sto be in a shrink, to enjoy someone's disgrace is in no way a sign of mental stability.
I can't stand tom cruise, but if he ever reaches a really low point in his life, i'm not gonna enjoy it or be happy about it, same with Rihanna or Fergie. Get what i say now?

I'd rather "struggle" for a mention than have the world LAUGH @ something I consider a profession. Imagine seeing your "peers" on tv talking about how much they were let down.

At the end of the day , Britney is still the same talent-less Brithey , praised or laughed at.
People know she can't sing and her dancing is stiff. She's still a huge artist. All she is now is a huge artist that can't put on a sexy show anymore.

I didn't even watch the VMAs and I don't find "enetertainers" entertaining. I don't watch people like Madonna and Janet. So I never had any real intentions on caring how she did , but I just knew the stans would flock to it. And like I said "she owned the vmas".
