......it has been 3 YEARS since she last performed, so she is bound to be nervous. she looks great considering she had two kids, nice and toned. it wasnt the best performance i must say.

but who is actually going to REMEMBER it in a few months/years??

does anyone remember the 2004, 2005, 2006 VMA's??
cos i sure dont...the 2007 VMA's was completely ****e along with them.

yeah this performance might be brought up now and again but i still believe britney can still do it...and I am sure i am not the only one who believes that.

please please i hope she gets her act together now...for her own sake.

cos i miss the old britney and i will always love her and remember her how she was. hence why everyone will always root for her.

as justin once said about her ''you can never count someone like her out''

actually i rememeber all the vma performances from her, with nsync and her together. i remember all of them. and for her comeback im sorry it sucked....all the hype mtv made it to be, and it looked like crap....she couldn't even lip-sync right... she looked like she was on crack... or something...her head was just not there. i give props to alicia keys since she was the only one that actually SANG...even though kid rock and tommy lee were duking it out while she was performing lmao.

(edit) shes is just a hasbeen.... don't get me wrong i still like her music. but her, shes just a trashy *****. later that night after she bombes the awards she goes out with no panties on and gives a free show to the paps again!! what kind of class is that for a mother of 2!
im 26 and i have more class than that and i don't even have any kids. i think she needs to take a long hiatus...make up with her mom, and clean up her act. at the rate she is going with her free shows, she won't be having her kids much longer.

She knew this was her comeback performance & did even try to make it look good? No.

She just doesn't care no more, she has lost it & needs help before it's too late and I'm not just talking about it being too late for her career.

One word can defeat this arguement, Madonna.

People will still remember it.

I do and so do many others since Mtv now plays reruns of them before the show to refresh our poor minds.

You still believe?

Agreed.

as justin once said about her ''you can never count someone like her out''

Agreed, but this performance isn't helping her out. Mtv is to blame for all the hype.

At the end of the day, this was her comeback performance - she needed to live up the hype & failed. Can't blame MTV for anything, hell you can't blame no one for that performance bar Britney & her so-called team of people.

It doesn't matter if it's 3 years or 10 years. She wasn't ready to perform. She didn't rehearsh. The entrance wasn't thought out. She should have come out with a bang, but she was just standing there. We all know Britney for her dancing, but she barely moved.

There is no excuses. She needs to either get herself together and put her all into it, or just pack it in

She did.

I just don't think she will ever be ready, her time is up it seems.. sad to say because I was 100% supportive last night.

Not making anu excuses, but I heard MTV made her change the whole performance last minute... She still should have went out there and totally looked like she was confident about it though. But she just looked bored.

Yea. Even at best, her stage was not that exciting compared the other artists who performed, but if she would have been more confident, it would have made that performance 100x better.
She gave up on herself.. live on stage.

she did horrible. am i still a fan? Yes i am.

no one has to agree with me and i can be 100% wrong but i honeslty think she was used once again by MTV.
She looked as if she did NOT want to be there. She has a HOT new single, n MTV knows this, they used her name EVERYwhere, i almost forgot it was the VMAs and thought it was a britney special.

but its watever, she didnt look good and she did a horrible job, doesnt make me less of a fan. every britney fan, KNOWS britney, shes a performer at heart, and for her to give us wat she gave us last nite...somethin wasnt rite. and Yes i blame MTV.

ill blame her if she goes on tour n decides to do wat she did last nite...then i would be pissed at Her.

all my opinion tho of course.

I don't think it was about being nervous, it was about the fact that she didn't seem to have any ambition to at least try to make it work. it was just very obvious that she didn't seem to want to be where she was. what she was doing just there got her where she is today.
if I were her I'd try to find a new path to life rather than sticking to that dead end.

she either really redefines herself and finally starts being herself she might get it done, but I doubt she's got the strength for it (which isn't meant to sound harsh, it's just for the better).

she's just "warming up", i personally think that if she were to make a comeback, she shouldn't have done it at the vma's, she should've at least taken some baby steps by perhaps doing little performances on talk shows here and there until she's 100% confident on being back on stage again.

having said this i dont even think the mtv performance was that bad in the first place.

i still think she needs to re-invent herself by putting on some clothes though, try something different and people might respect her more rather than pity her and see her as a "mess"...i think she's trying to prove she's still got it but she can still do that with clothes on!

Is this a joke? Of course everyone is going to remember this. She bombed, killed her career literally in front of our eyes. so Lame. As someone who used to like her, I was hoping she'd do great but she dropped the ball ALL on her own. Can't blame a single other person.

You make yourself look stupid when you're not.

This is not her warming up at all, it was her comeback performance - her warming up sh*t was her House of Blue's act. It's no good defending that performance, even I thought we'd get something amazing but we all got an egg on our faces but certain people just don't want to say 'that was the worst performance of her entire career'. Get real guys.

why should she have to look like she's breaking her neck whilst dancing just for her to make a COMEBACK?

'that was the worst performance of her entire career'...bzatch please, it's not asif she slipped on a banana skin or embarrassingly ripped her hotpants cos her ass was too big...she was purely dancing and yes, i know that she can do better but i just think the performance was decent and for people to call it a "disaster" and that she "bombed" at the vma's is a ridiculous exaggeration if you ask me, if that was someone else's performance they wouldn't have gotten this much flack but of course brit does cos everyone loves to hate her!

plus she's been through alot, not only through a divorce but fighting for her kids who she loves dearly plus post natal depression, maybe even a problem with nerves or getting that natural "high", she probably feels low all the time (as she's always drinking multiple cans of red bull)...what kind of fan would diss her like that, knowing that she's hit rock bottom yet still expect her to entertain?...a selfish one that's for sure! i think her fans should be more understanding!

PLEASE Britney is in a league of her own, you guys always say that yourselves so don't compare her performances to other artists. It is VERY clear that this is not the caliber of Britney and is FAR from it as well. Everyone believed in spite of her personal issues the one thing people still thought was she can BRING IT on stage and do what she is famous for and she failed. POINT BLANK, PERIOD.

There is no excuse, personal issues, heels etc...other celebs have gone through that and even FELL OFF A FLIGHT OF STAIRS and continued to put it all.

In the same breath you are saying that her performance was crap and didn't entertain, and telling us that we're overreacting. Pick one.

By ANY standards Britney's performance was awful. I don't recall EVER seeing anyone going to a major awards show with hair that bad. She looked like a failing hooker prancing around in her underwear. She didn't DANCE - she waved her arms (and her gut) around uncertainly. She didn't even bother ATTEMPTING to lip the words partway through, she just gave up. Her expression was almost vacant.

Then, the excuses. Her heel broke? No, it didn't. It bent once because she put her weight down on it wrong. That's not the heel's fault, that's the fault of Britney's poor co-ordination.

She can't dance in heels? She didn't have to wear them. And if she can't, again, that's her failing. Beyonce does it all the time. So does Christina - even Christina dances better than that!

She was upset about Sarah's comments? False, nobody knew about Sarah's comments (NOBODY) until she came out with them AFTER Britney's performance.

MTV pulled the real performance? Funny how we had videos from rehearsals DAYS before. Funny how the dancers are dancing crisply, knowing exactly what they are doing, and pulling it off perfectly. And their dancing heavily involves contact with her, so it's not a matter of 'Britney was supposed to fly' or whatever.

She's depressed and worried about her kids? If she cares that much she wouldn't have tried to bring her career back yet. She could've waited.

No. There is no excuse.

I kind of feel bad that so many fans are justifying this and making excuses. I'm not saying don't be a fan....but aren't you disappointed? Don't you think you deserve more respect from Britney for standing by her for so long?

More than anything, I was just insulted and disappointed with the performance.

I am only holding her to the standards she set for herself in the past. She failed to deliver in a sad way.
