Sources close to wild living singer Britney Spears have now said that she took a number of anti-depressant pills just minutes before taking the stage at this week's MTV VMA Awards.

Onlookers were aghast when she performed a dance routine on stage at the glitzy Las Vegas do but barely seemed to know what she was doing.

According to the source, the singer was nervous about her come back performance and flew into a rage when she saw what her hair looked like in a mirror causing her to lash out at staff, including her hairdresser.

Apparently this is when Britney took the pills which are designed to relax her, but maybe in this instance were a little more than she needed.

it does kind of make sense though when you think about it...she was sooooo out of it when she performed. she looked like she was sooooooo relaxed and confuzed... and taking anti-depressant pills can do that to you. and who knows how many she took...so i don't think its a rumor.

Even so, I doubt the effects would kick in just like that. She looked like something else was on her mind and was trying to ignore it as she perfromed.

It doesnt do anything for a performance it doesnt it for you emotions. My firend is on them and so are many actors...this is the dumbest thing I have ever read! That would not make her stumble 3 times or do a bad lip job!

lol sorry hunny but they dont take no 2 weeks to start showing signs that you're taking them. im a nurse, believe me they dont take that long. now..theres no way that they would have made her THAT out of it if she took them like when she was backstage before she went onstage. if she would have taken them..say the day before, or way early that morning..she would have showed some signs but not that much
