Mariah Carey's highly-anticipated forthcoming album is entitled "Sweet Soul Odyssey" and it's earmarked for a December release via Def Jam Records. The follow-up to "The Emancipation of Mimi" is expected to boast collaborations from Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael Cox (Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans), Johnta Austin (Fantasia, Monica), Stargate, Nate "Danja Handz" Hills (Nelly Furtado, Leona Lewis), Terius "Dream" Nash (Nivea, Rihanna), Kasseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean (Jennifer Hudson, Angie Stone) and Will "Will.I.Am" Adams (Nicole Scherzinger, Kelis).

Announced producers and collaborators

Bryan Michael Cox visited Anguilla and contributed four new songs to the album.[3] T.I. was interviewed by VIBE to talk about his forthcoming album T.I. vs. T.I.P., films, and future projects. He said that he is one of the producers of one of Carey's upcoming albums.[4] According to an interview with MTV, producer Scott Storch is going to work with Mariah Carey.[5] In an M&C article, DJ Toomp has stated to work on a collaboration with Carey.[6] In an STLtoday article it was mentioned that Ne-Yo is working with Carey in 2007.[7] In an [[MTV News]] Segment, it was mentioned that will.i.am worked with Carey on her upcoming album.[1] Polow Da Don said that he'll be working with Carey for her new album.[2] A Rap TV interview with Jermaine Dupri confirms that he has contributed 5 new tracks to the album.[8]A July 2007 HipHopDX post stated that rapper Q-Tip had recently worked with Carey, among others.[9] It was also recently revealed that material provided by Cool & Dre will be on the album.[3] In an interview in the September 2007 issue of Interview Magazine, Mariah was quoted as saying "Swiss Beatz and I have been working together. He was really young when I first met him and now he's got all these Warhols - I'm like, This dude is rich! He's great. I'm really excited about a couple of songs we've done together.[4] "Terius "The Dream" Nash (responsible for writing Rihanna's "Umbrella) told Blender Magazine that he was working on Mariah's new album.[5]

Rolling Stone Magazine writes: Mariah Carey's last album The Emancipation of Mimi was the breakout hit of 2005 selling more than 5 million copies (in the U.S. alone). For the follow-up, she's hewing close to Mimi's glossy, club-ready sound, with beats from Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox and Will.i.am. "Seriously, I can't wait to put this record out," says Carey. "I'm in the studio day and night trying to cook it to perfection. If the last album was dinner, treat this as dessert."[10]
