View Full Version : Where are the preshows for Philly?

H&H

i've been pretty much staying away from the boards because i want the setlist to be a surprise to me. but i've been on the lookout for a who's in philly thread and a philly preshow thread and i've seen neither.

well, i'm both nights at philly (sect. 124 on friday and GA on saturday). so where are the preshows, folks?

and to all you reading this, i'm still desperately seeking a GA or great lower single for oakland -- and will need the same for both L.A. shows. available for trade for similar for these shows only are the following singles:

fri. 10/5 philly: sect. 104
sat. 10/6 philly: sect. 101 & GA
mon. 11/12 DC: GA

ah, cross-pollination. :D

so is this a joint pre-show or is livedaily just piling on theirs? either way works for me as i know folks on both boards.

thanks, bushy.

BigJohn will be having his LD famous tail gate complete with brand new grill.....

paging John .......where are you setting up this puppy?
In the back left corner of the Wachovia lot closest to the Linc under the highway? This tail gate should come with a LD moderator warning as the spoiler of all things fun, pinky ! will be there

I like the old man,

He is the only starter that they could depend on the ENTIRE year.

He is also pretty consistant

OK, so this thread got lost and muddled with baseball talk. I am coming in late on Saturday for the show.....is there a get together Saturday? And if so, where exactly? Remember, I have NEVER been to Philly, so explain in extreme detail where the good folks of LD will be :)

I think bigjohn is bringing a grill, other than that bring what you drink and what you eat. my girl usually goes overboard on snacks & stuff, so we should be Ok as far as that goes.

bigjohn
Oct 3rd, 2007, 09:51 AM
I am not sure if i am bringing a grill. I may be stopping in South Philly to get a sandwich to bring down. I just did not have time this week to head out for a grill, food etc...

So, I guess its basically BYOB/F

See you Friday...Off to the ballpark...

John, I'll call you a little later

Bigjohn, feel free to give my cell through PM.

Saturday we will be in Lot D, hopefully near the port a potties on the Broad St. side. Just call and we'll get you there. Will be in the lot by 3:15.

DJ Brett Gash is setting up in lot D south of the Wachovia Center, under the rt 95 ramp. We'll have food and beverage for those traveling, $5 will give you access to a keg of Sam Adam's Octoberfest. Brett's a great guy and lives for these parties. He'll play whatever Bruce related music you care to hear...

Stop by and say hello. If you like what you hear stay a while.

Rather than start a seperate thread, I'll ask here....

Where do I go for a real cheesesteak sandwich? Hopefully close to Wachovia if possible. (and on the West Wing, they told Matt Santos to order it with cheese slices or something - is this legit?)

If they told him to order it with cheese slices they were trying to get him in trouble. Cheesesteaks are served with cheese wiz although you can get them with prov (alone) as well. Wit means with onions.

Pat's and Geno's are the famous touristy places not too far from Wachovia. I've been told Jim's on South and 4th are good - and the Copabanana across the street makes the worlds best margaritas to boot.

Here are directions to Pat's - Geno's is across the street:

http://www.patskingofsteaks.com/directions.htm

From the show follow the last direction (Broad St. north, right on Wharton).

If you can't get down to south philly where the originals are Pat's is the best IMO just down south broad to passyunk very close to wach. They make it the way it's supposed to be made w/ thin cut rib eye, spanish onions and soybean oil... Geno's is a distant 2nd if line is too long

I am coming in late Saturday, about 5:30 pm. What is the best way to get from the airport to the Arena? Is there public transportation or do I take a cab? How far away from the airport is the arena?

I hope to be there around 6 ish if all goes well and hope some folks are still hanging out, as I know he doesn't come on until 8:30 or so.

Any plans for a get together afterwards? I know it is a saturday night and I will be on Left Coast time so I know I'll be amped.

Also, where is a decent sports bar to watch my beloved Angels Sunday as I don't leave until Monday afternoon.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mickey, you going to Philly?

scootbigman
Oct 5th, 2007, 10:34 AM
A cab would be the way to go, unless you can get on the Holiday Inn shuttle from the airport. A bit sneaky but cheaper.

It's not a train I know anything about but I'm guessing you would have to go into Center City then back, Well over an hour I think.

randy

you should find all the sports bar in Philly rather empty this weekend

The Iggles aren't scheduled to lose at all this weekend and the Failies aren't losing until late that night.

Of course a REAL sports fan would be watching Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur at 10am EDT.

Your too funny Andrew. A real football fan watches REAL football, not that boring random running back and forth on a long field sport with nets at either end thingee you speak of.

My beloved Raiders are also off this weekend.....uuumm, correction, my First PLACE Raiders ;) Need to get that in while I can.

If there was no traffic the airport to the arena would take 10 minutes. They are a about 5 miles away on the same interstate. Cab is the way to go - I guess that means taking your luggage to the concert?

If you are looking for a good sports bar just follow the people who look like they are going to a funeral.........

The plan all along was to skip Philly, let them work out the dust bunnies and hit Albany for the overnight bar bash.
Have a great show though
