I've seen Bruce and ESB over a hundred times since early 70's all over the world.Including backstage in Germany and Los Angeles.
I can put up with his political rap most of the time over the last 3 tours BUT,
If the tour is going to be roughly 21 songs a night, down from the 23-25 songs during the Rising Tour, It frightens me that his duet "spot" with Patti is going to be one of her songs.:noway:
I can think of many obvious selections or even some from Tracks Disc 4.
Let her wait til her 5 show tour in January with her band, and not waste 5 good minutes that we can appreciate another Bruce rariety.
Is Anybody out there?
Finally, what 3-4 songs will he play in Rockefella Plaza?
Devils Arcade?

I heard from third party that Stevie said Long Walk Home is on the bill for nyc as of now..........
Also, heard Max may be a spy during the show for footage to be aired on Conan.......Johnny Carson's seat is still not definite...they need the ratings, and what better than a blow by blow from Max.......

In my book 5 minutes of a two hour concert doesn't qualify as a big tour problem. In fact one of Patti's songs would win my vote over BTR.

Agreed
but the 21 songs I think was "light"
Most of his shows average 22-24 songs in the beginning of the tour and then as it goes along he gets up to the 24-26 average, maybe another 1 or 2 if they are stadium shows.
My guess for the Today Show 5 or 6 songs
Radio Nowhere
Long Walk Home
Girls In Their Summer Clothes
Promised Land
Thunder Road and/or Darlington County

Hey 77,
I am a longtime fan too (these shows mark my 30th anniversary of fanhood) and remember the Bruce marathons but...
Cut me a break!!! 21 songs is light??? The man is 58 years old and he is one of the younger dudes in the band. Quality is way more important than quantity here and 21 is a whole lot more than you will hear from most bands. and BTW, the fans are not getting any younger either. At the rehearsal shows, way more people were trying to get into the seats than onto the floor :).
Bruce and Patti did do one duet at the rehearsal show #2, from her new album and it was quite good (suprisingly for me).
Hope you enjoy yourself 77, you are now "Livin in the Future" , I sure did.

actually, I agree with him..She put me to sleep during the Holiday Shows..Or was that the Sambuca! - either way, she's a drag at this level. She works on her own level but not here..

Prediction..........My Last Post..........
I love Bruce but Patti is almost as bad as Paul's better half Linda( Souls of the Departed).
I am an independant voter but as i read all the lyrics to all the songs i find Springsteen AGAIN putting politics above when he could hardly speak good english which was up until 1986 just look at the videos of him.
So i may sell all my ga tickets for all the shows and watch frasier.....

I think that part of the problem is that Bruce doesn't hear Patti as the audience does. I'm pretty sure his monitors sound different than the distortion that we hear out in the crowd. Every time I on the 2003 tour her vocals on Into the fire were a screechfest. Except once in Rochester or Indianapolis, I can't remember, but I do remember it as being hauntingly good. I think this is what Bruce hears. Too Bad he can't hear what we hear.

too bad there's no way for Bruce to hear how bad it sounds for us, I bet he would be shocked and horrified. (not Patti, the sound overall). Her voice would sound much much better if it didn't distort and bounce around while the soundmen twiddle their thumbs and Landau counts the T shirt sales.
Wow, imagine if Bruce actually walked around the arean during soundcheck to see what's like it different locations. That wouldbe amazing! No one ever does that

Hey look BRUCE is an artist, part of his art is directlyt linked to his view of society. If you don't like the artist stay home, if you like part of it and not the other part-well you have to decide on balance what you want to do. But ORTHY who are you to curse and say sing. Pay your money and listen, if you dont want to listen then STAY AT HOME. Trust me, considering that you have a moron like Kurt Cobain on your avataar really leads me to believe that your opinion matters!

I don't find anything wrong with Bruce speaking up about this country's politics. He doesn't bang you over the head with it, he is simply stating his opinion and speaking up when a lot of people won't. And all the points that he brings up are completely valid and we as Americans should be thinking about these things.

Clarence better hit the treadmill and get into tour shape. Better not see him sitting in a recliner for half the show. Come on Big Man.

EXACTLY,
if the show is going to be shorter, there is no time for paying customers to not only have to deal with his public service announcements, but also listening to him whore himself out for his wife's so called "solo career" which is going no further than my solo career.
If Bruce let me sing a song nightly(believe me you don't want that), his kool aid drinking minions would be running out to buy my record and defending how great I was.

To be honest and thought provoking..many of the people complaining that their markets didn't get shows are probably lucky. You will get a better show later when he announces a 2nd American leg. I am glad that Cleveland is a month into it because i got a feeling that the first few weeks are going to be a little rough. Obviously, Bruce is Bruce and it will still be very good but i think some of the veterans understand my point. Even Steve (who i refuse to call Stevie btw) when asked on the Today show, kind of made a joke of how much they have rehearsed. His sarcasm spoke volumes to me. The shows will be well worth attending at any juncture but even places like Philly might not be as spectacular as usual. But Philly will get another set of dates too so i don't feel bad for them.

Regarding Patti, I have nothing against her as a harmony singer for the E Street Band, which was her initial reason for being hired. Not sure how essential her acoustic guitar is either. But singing backup, no problem. I also enjoyed her first 2 solo cds - nothing great, but decent, especially "Rumble Doll". Haven't heard much of the new one. I think some people are particularly cruel here in the way they talk of her, and that is probably unnecessary, but not surprising. Sometimes I wonder if I'm on a board that actually "likes" BRUCE. But regarding Patti, I have to agree - I'd prefer the harmony role, and if it came down to hearing her song versus "The Promise" or "Streets of Fire" or "Downbound Train", after all, I AM there to see and hear Springsteen music, and there's no time to waste.

Having now listened to the rehearsal show from beginning to end, i gotta say a) patti's song works in the context of the show and b) it's not there as a freebie from bruce to give her visibility.
Listen to the show he's presenting, the story he's trying to tell about disillusionment, the loss of freedoms, the struggle to fight back. he picked her song to help tell that story.
And adding on to that point, Steven has some great songs that would fit the theme as well. How about ending the show with "I am a Patriot"?

I can see some of that point, and I love Stevie's music, but again, it comes down to this being a Springsteen show, and I'd just rather hear his songs. Once the tour is over, and Steve or Patti tour, then the time will come to showcase their material.
Realistically, I'm not sure how many tours are left for this band, and there are so many songs we'd all like to hear.
