This Old Guitar

Caught some of the Born to Run documentary on VH1 Classic last night. Bruce was talking about his old guitar.

I am almost certain he still plays the same guitar in concert. ( I have yet to see him on this tour)

When does he use it? What songs?

I've been trying to find out the same information.....is it being used on the current tour? I didn't see it in Philly #2 on Saturday night. And, seems like I only saw it once one of the last times I saw him....I can't remember exactly where, but I'm thinking Shea. I don't believe he had it in the Seeger Sessions or D & D Tours, but I can't remember for sure.

Seems to me like he was bringing it out for BTR for some of the shows, and that was about the only time one saw it. But, like I said, I can't remember which tour that was.

I noticed that he did use the guitar on Promised Land and Night during the Today show concert.

Does he only use it on the old songs?

He doesn't use it anymore. He used one thats a verge replica but I could tell on the screen at CAA Night 2 that it wasn't it. Thats as much as I know. I believe he must have used it too on the today show. You can tell by the body not being as beat up and the pickups are the joe barden pickups like nils brown strats.

"The" guitar has vintage Fenders and a weird and warpped body from all the abuse and water he pours on himself. I think that guitar was retired and put away to leave to his kids.

The day Bruce was on the boardwalk in Asbury doing the photo shoot with the old Camaro One of Bruce's roadies, I think the guy's name is Wayne, he was carrying around the old Esquire. It appeared the reason he had it out was it was going to be in the photo shoots , but they never used it. But it was definitely the guitar. I got a couple close up pictures of it. I will try and figure out how to post them.

I didn't see the old guitar at the CAA rehearsal. He played the replica on BTR.
