it means I've turned into an icicle. It's 45 degrees outside and our furnace isn't working. It's FREEZING in here!

Doesn't it get way colder in Ohio than that? That is the kind of weather I gripe about and you mid west/back east people tell me i am a baby and how its -42. I just thought that was typical for Ohio, early, but common.

It is typical, but usually the furnace is working when it gets this cold so we don't complain as much

you should probably get that fixed. or a blanket. No matter how cold it gets here I hate the heater and turn the vent off in my room. I am like allergic to it or something. whenever that thing is on i sneeze like....well someone who sneezes alot. lol

Umm yes Amanda, quite the difference between dealing with Ohio cold with and without a heater.

But if you think about it, her allergic the heater thing totally makes sense... the heater in my car, if it's on to high, makes me sneeze as well (my allergies are really sensitive anyway I guess), but for someone who isn't really used to that at all... yeah.

It's hard to explain, but I guess I can see that.

I am not arguing that a heater can make people sneeze. I'm saying sitting in a house in 45 degree weather with no heater is cold, lol.

Oh, I'm not arguing either point... I can just see it happening. Esp if I lived in Cali.

But yes, that is cold. Although, I'm not sure how they do it in my apartment because right now the thermostat turns on the air... so I've never actually used the heat.

It's always hot in my apartment though for some reason...

Oh yeah I didn't realize the heater was not working. I wasnt disuputing the cold without the heater, I just thought the cold was common place for you guys. thats all.

Did you get your furnace fixed?

Did you get your furnace fixed?

Nope. Since it's the weekend the only plumber in town would charge a crapload so we toughed it out. I'm sure my Mom will call tomorrow

SparkleHugs

Just so ya know, the plumber will only fix the plumbing you need a heating man out. lol I would suggest my father, but he only works my area. lol

Have you tried looking at the pilot, maybe it just burned out and needs relighting?

It was actually in the 60's today...good enough for a t-shirt and jeans!

And we are officially on the waiting list for the heat man to come.

Yeah, 46 is really uncommon around here. it usually doesn't get that cold. I don't ask for sympathy from anyone who has to deal with the winter climate you all do.

But seeing as I currently do not have a comforter at my new house, I am effing freezing every night.

Ugh, you have my sympathy Sparks. I have to have a comforter even when it's 90 outside or I can't sleep

It was 73 today. And I just found out it was foggy this morning so the schools cancelled. In a strange way, I miss waiting by the radio in the morning to see if school's cancelled. LOL

SparkleHugs

Yup...the fog can really make it difficult to see on the open country roads. They don't want any bus drivers driving into a cornfield or something

SparkleHugs

well if you just follow the road, drive super slow, that wont happen. I have driven in some super thick fog in a windy country road with cliffs and survived, it's all about paying attention. If it is so bad, why don't they do something to make it easier to see on the roads like lights or something?

I don't know really. It's always been a rule that when it gets very foggy, which isn't really that often, school closes. Plus they're not even close to using up their 5 weather days yet so it's all good.

HipHopChristian

I know, our cousin told me they close school here for fog also. I dunno, they don't do that back in good ol' IL.

Katlin
Oct 18th, 2007, 07:43 PM
I've heard of a few hour delay for fog, but never a full cancellation. It eventually clears up.

lost_n_justin's_smile
Oct 18th, 2007, 10:30 PM
The rule up here is...if the fog is bad it usually warrants a 2 hour delay, which means school would start at 10:10 instead of 8:10. If that's the case the buses leave the bus garage at 8 to start picking up kids...if they don't feel the fog is clear enough by 8 for the bus drivers and kids who drive to school to get there safely, they close.
