BRITNEY’S BACK…BITCH
New Album Set to Debut With About 350k in Sales, Backstreet Boys, Avenged Sevenfold, Josh Turner Trail

October 31, 2007

There’s no such thing as bad publicity folks.

Britney Spears’ Blackout album will debut on next week’s HITS chart at #1. As it is, the beleaguered grown-up teen diva looks on target to sell around 350k, give or take, which ain’t bad at all.

Gimme more indeed. Eat your heart out, Perez Hilton.

For ZLG’s Barry Weiss, next week’s chart will be a treat as he pulls a mean trick, with Jive’s Backstreet Boys joining labelmate Spears by vying for the week’s second-highest debut with a total for their Unbreakable album that could top 100k.

The boys to men will battle it out with WB’s art-metal band Avenged Sevenfold, who will rely on a strong presence at youth lifestyle retailer Hot Topic with their self-titled fourth album to challenge with sales between 90-100k.

MCA Nashville’s Josh Turner is up next as his new album, Everything Is Fine, lives up to its title with a one-week sales estimate of 80k, mas or menos.

Andrea Bocelli’s best of on Decca is in line to sell between 50-60k, but at this time of year, it could go ever higher, though the requisite PBS drive doesn’t start until December.

Thanks to Carrie Underwood, the market was up 5% vs last week, down nearly 17% vs same week last year and now down 14.5% year-to-date. Now that’s scary.

I think that they base that off of first day sales, and seeing as how people bought multiple copies, I don't think that it's safe to use that data...

I'll admit that I bought the album. It isn't vocally, creatively, or artistically impressive, but its Britney, none of her work has ever been any of those things. However, the album has hot beats and hot songs. That's what she's good at-making beat-driven music. It isn't a bad album, good job Britney. I'm happy for you. :)

it's Carrie, bitch! :D

It doesn't matter where Brit Brit's album debuts, because it's not going to stick...hers never do. Carrie's will doubtless have greater longevity, and you can bet the bank on that one. Kinda the same scenario as when Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" beat out "Some Hearts" for the #1 debut. Yet, which album had more legs? Mhhhhhm. :music:

you would expect her to sell alot more if she sold 100,000+ copies on the first day :o I guess those were just the hardcore fans...

Carrie didn't get beat out for a number one debut this year, she already had her amazing debut

COADF still outsold Some Hearts worldwide, and it took COADF half the time to reach those numbers.

Carrie is just a lucky country singer when it comes to sales.

Of course it did WW. That's essentially a given when you're going to compare a mainstream pop artist to a Nashville country act. I assumed that everyone would know that I was referring to US sales. There's really no market for country music overseas, whereas the brand of beat-driven pop music produced by the likes of Britney and Madonna is enormously successful wherever you go.

I know you were referring to US sales, I just found it unfair since Madonna's success started decreasing there a long time ago while Carrie is basically America's sweetheart, plus being a country artist makes it easier for her to pull big numbers.

She will definitely have greater longevity than Britney though:p
