I am sorry for posting this request because I have seen this information here b4.
How does the whole wristband thing work?
I have been very blessed to get 2 GA's for DC (11/11) and am excited to be bringing my 12 year old son to his first show.
Also, anyone planning any DC preshow fun? What time? Where?
Thanks in advance.

I just came from St Paul show and did the GA/Pit thing.
Posted on the ticket offices doors were instructions to arrive between 2 - 5 pm to receive a numbered wrist band for the lottery. You must have a GA ticket and each person must be present. They will not give two wrist bands to a person with 2 GA tickets.
At the time we received our numbered lottery wristbands they passed out written instructions for the rest of the process. From reading other post the lottery has pretty much been the same at every venue.
In St Paul the instructions were.
1. Return to the designated lottery drawing assembly place which was a smaller auditorium in the Xcel complex at 5:15. I would be on time as they did the drawing fairly quickly.
They had large signs for people to line up behind according to your last four digits of your lottery number, In St Paul about 1200 people got lottery wristbands so the signs were 0001 - 0100, 0101 - 0200, continueing on up to 1101 - 1200.
A guest fan drew the winning lottery number out of a clear container that they mixed thoroughly in front of everyone right before the drawing.
In St Paul they announced before the drawing that 480 people would be let into the pit area. So after the drawing they took the winning number and the 479 following numbers and lined them up separately from the remaining lottery participants. The pit lottery winners were led in lottery number order into the concert hall after everyone had there pit wrist bands.
Shortly after the remaining lottery participants were led in the order of their lottery wrist bands starting with the first person following the lottery winners (pit people's) last number. They did check wrist band numbers as they filed us in to make sure people did not switch order. No other concert goers were let into the concert hall until all the lottery participants were in. The 700 people who did not make it into the pit were all within 10 rows from the rail. Still a great view.
Hope this helps. Good luck on the lottery but don't let it ruin your show if you don't get in. I didn't make it and the show was fantastic!

St. Paul seemed to be VERY well organized and was helped by the fact that they were able to get everyone lined up BEFORE the number was picked by letting people into the adjacent Roy Wilkins Auditorium, which is used for smaller concerts and events. There was an Xcel staff person in the bleachers using the PA system in the auditorium and telling folks how and where to line up. Everyone could hear what was going on. They outlined everything clearly before the number was drawn (i.e., they gave out 1100-some wristbands and that 480 would be let into the pit). The number was picked by a young fan, who was brought up to the bleachers so that everyone could see the number being picked.
I don't think all venues have the option of a large indoor space adjacent to the arena where everyone could get organized and hear what's going on during the lottery. I've never been to DC, so I don't know how Verizon Center has handled these kinds of things in the past. Anybody know?
Both shows in DC are likely to draw a large number of people for wristbands, as 11/11 is a Sunday and the next day is a federal holiday.

Green Turtle will be next to the GA Line entrance. So this GA line will have a party atmosphere until the drawing.

GENERAL ADMISSION & PIT LINE PROCEDURES
The Bruce Springsteen General Admission (GA) floor is divided into 2 areas, the front pit area and the remainder of the GA floor. There is a lottery procedure to determine access to the front pit area. If you have a GA ticket, it is not necessary to participate in the lottery. Your GA ticket guarantees you a spot in the remaining floor area. All GA ticket holders must enter at the 6th Street NW Entrance of Verizon Center.
Sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed to general admission (GA) ticket holders on the day of the show, between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, on the 6th Street side of Verizon Center. For those ticket holders that arrive after 5:00pm, non-sequential GA wristbands will be distributed. A starting number will be randomly chosen by a fan at 5:15pm. This number will be announced and displayed at the 6th Street entrance. The fan holding the wristband that matches the starting number drawn will be the first in line (i.e., if numbers 1-100 were issued and number 10 was drawn, the line would start with 10, then 11, 12, 13 through 100, followed by 1 -9).
The purpose of the random number wristband distribution is to insure that all fans have the same chance of being first in line, eliminating the need to arrive early.
At 5:30pm two lines will be formed: one for the front GA pit and one for the remaining GA floor area. Patrons will be let in the building starting at 5:50 p.m., ten minutes prior to the general public at 6:00 p.m.
Doors for the general public will open at 6:00pm.
